1. Preparation before use
1.1 Transport
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults and check
it for any transport damage.
Inspect the goods in the presence of your forwarder
Should transport damage have occurred, please cause an inventory (determination
of the faults) to be made in the presence of the forwarder. Please send a complaint
in writing to the specialist dealer responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
Correct use of BASTI requires precise and careful training of the accompanying
person. We ask you to read through the Instructions for use carefully prior to initial
commissioning of the seating aid, and to observe them.
1.3 Safe disposal of the packaging material
Please assist in disposing of the packaging material professionally in order to pro-
mote the recycling of resources. For this reason, separate the packaging materials
for recycling according to their classication. Do not leave packaging materials
unattended, as they are a possible source of danger.
1.4 Location of the instructions
Ensure that these Instructions for use remain with the product. Additional copies
are available at www.schuchmann-reha.com.

2.2 Areas of application, intended use
BASTI, the multifarious bathing and shower lying aid, suits solely for use in bath
tubs, showers, sandboxes and on the beach. It supports children and youths
without the capability of sitting upright unassisted and it gives additional stability
through straps. Use over and above that is not intended.
CAUTION!
2.3 Not intended use / warnings
• BASTI should only be used by one child/youth at the same time.
• Never leave child unattended on the bathing and shower lying aid.
• Correct use of BASTI requires an prior instruction of the caregiver.
• Max. load of 75 kg should not be exceeded.
• Never use BASTI if any part is faulty, worn out or missing.
• Do not place the chair near an open re or other sources of strong heat, such
as electric bar res, gas res etc. due to the risk of re.
• Do not use any accessories or replacement parts not manufactured by
Schuchmann, because this may affect your child’s safety.
• Do not use the chair unless all components are correctly tted and adjusted.
• BASTI is not suitable for the transport of persons.
2. Product description
2.1 Materials
Main frame is made out of stainless steel, is corrosion-free and black powder-
coated. Frames of back-/headrest and lower leg support are made out of
aluminium, are corrosion-free and black powder-coated. The internal structure of
the snap-lock joints and the Bowden cable are made out of stainless steel and are
corrosion-free. The removable and washable fabric consists of 100% polyester.

Make sure after positioning that the snap-lock joint latches!
2.7 General settings
With BASTI every shower or bath becomes as easy as possible. Backrest and lower
leg support angles adjust easily into the desired and for the child comfortable
position. Due to the foldable headrest even hair washing becomes effortlessly.
Thanks to the low seat height a minimum of water is necessary.
2.7.2 Adjustment of headrest
Headrest is adjustable from 0° to 90°. Push
simultaneously the buttons on both sides and
bring the headrest into the desired position. After
positioning, release the loop and make sure that
the snap-lock joint latches.
2.7.3 Adjustment of lower leg support
Lowerlegsupport is adjustable from 0° to 90°. Push
simultaneously the buttons on both sides and
bring the lower leg support into the desired posi-
tion. After positioning, release the loop and make
sure that the snap-lock joint latches.
2.7.1 Adjustment of backrest
Backrest is adjustable from 90° to 180°. Pull loop
on the back of the backrest and bring the back-
rest into the desired position. After positioning,
release the loop and make sure, that the snap-
lock joint latches.

Make sure that all Velcro closures are closed!
2.7.4 Mounting of chest harness
To mount the chest harness, place it at the
desired position around the backrest and x it
with the Velcro closure on the back of the back-
rest. In addition the width is adjustable through
Velcro closures along both sides.

Mounting
To mount the head cushions, place them at the
desired position around the headrest and x it with
the Velcro closure on the back of the headrest. Both cushions are horizontal ad-
justable.
3.2 Additional special fabric
• including a deepening to stabilise
the seating position
• with Velcro closure
This special fabric stabilises the seating position
of young children and provides the basis for an
upright position.
Mounting
Bring the backrest almost in a parallel position to
the seating surface and pull the fabric over the
frame. Fix it with the Velcro closure underneath
the seating surface.

3.3 Additional belt

Mounting
To mount the additional belt, place it at the
desired position around the frame and x it with
the Velcro closure.

Mounting
Plug the rear crossbar of BASTI rst into the rear sockets (A) and then into the
quick-release locks (B). The rear sockets (A) are adjustable in the width and can
be adapted to all sizes of BASTI (see Point 3.5). Open the quick-release lock (B)
to remove BASTI.
Make sure that all Velcro closures are closed!

3.5 Adjustment of shower stand
The rear sockets (A) and the quick release locks (B) must be placed different for
the various sizes of BASTI.

4. Maintenance and care
4.1 Care
Wipe all frame elements with a sponge or clean damp cloth. The fabric can be
removed and washed at 30°. Please do not tumble dry and use any abrasive
detergents.
4.3 Spare parts
Please refer to your specialist dealer for any spare parts (see item 7.5) and mention
the serial number.
4.2 Maintenance
A visual inspection is recommended daily. Periodically inspect for cracks, breaks,
loose parts, missing parts and/or malfunctions. Remove the product from service
when any condition develops that might make operation unsafe. Please refer to
your specialist dealer for any failure or malfunction (see item 7.5).

6. Warranty
1. In addition to our general business terms we grant a guarantee of 2 years
for all frame elements.
2. All faulty parts will be replaced at no charge, unless there is a material or
constructions fault.
3. Repairs are just to be carried out by authorised specialist dealers or the
manufacturer.
4. If the product has been tted with any accessories that have not been
supplied by Schuchmann, the warranty shall lapse.
5. The manufacturer is not liable for damages caused by components and
spare parts, which are not released by the manufacturer.
6. The result of incorrect handling, natural wear, excessive stress or violent
damage of the product shall not be covered by the guarantee.
7. Warranty lapses, if modications or design changes have been done by
unauthorised persons.
8. Custom-made products are not returnable.
9. We reserve the right to change our designs and materials relating to the
state of the art and common product development.
