05 1. Preparation.
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and any transport damage. Inspect the goods in the presence of your
forwarder. Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange for
an inventory (determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of
the forwarder. Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer
responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
The correct use of the till. supine standing frame requires a precise and
careful instruction of the accompanying person. We ask you to read th-
rough the Instructions for use carefully prior to initial commissioning of the
supine standing frame, and to observe the descriptions. Cushioned parts
may become warm when exposed to direct sunlight. Cover these parts or
protect the equipment from direct sunlight.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The product packaging is used for protection during transport and should
be stored in case the product needs to be transported again. Should you
have to return the product for repairs or in case of a guarantee claim,
please if possible use the original box so that the product is optimally
packaged. Should you no longer require the packaging materials, sepa-
rate and recycle them. Do not leave packaging materials unattended, as
they are a possible source of danger.
1.3.2 Product
Separate the raw materials used in the product for recycling according to
their classification (see material information under Point 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these
instructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use.

2.1 Material information
The sub-frame and the individual elements are made from steel (corro-
sion-free and cathodic-dip coated or powder-coated), aluminium and
plastic. All body supports (except for three-dimensionally adjustable knee
pelotte pads) are padded and covered. The footrests are made from
wood and have grip tape stickers. The covers are made of 100% polyester
and are flame resistant (according to DIN EN 1021-1+2). Dierent materials
consisting of polypropylene, polyester or polyurethane were used for the
padding.
2.2 Handling and transport
The till. supine standing frame is not intended for carrying, since it is
equipped with castors. If carrying cannot be avoided due to obstacles,
this may only be done without the user. Make sure that all movable parts
are tightened. Subsequently, at least two persons should stand next to
the supine standing frame, hold on to the left and right of the base frame
and carry it to the desired location. In order to transport the supine
standing frame, reduce all adjustments to their most compact size (upper
body support, leg supports, height to lowest setting etc.).
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
The till. supine standing frame is a medical product of risk class 1 for indoor
areas and is used for standing training in the event of significantly impaired
or non-existing ability to walk or stand.
2.3.1 Indications
The till. supine standing frame is designed for users with significantly
pronounced impairment of standing and walking, especially due to:
• a complete or incomplete hemiplegia/hemiparesis, if applicable, with
inclusion of the torso musculature due to a condition of the brain (e.g.
stroke, brain tumour)
• a complete or incomplete paralysis of the arms and legs (tetraplegia/
tetraparesis) and, if applicable, with inclusion of the torso musculature
due to a condition of the brain (e.g. multiple sclerosis, brain injury), the
spinal column (e.g. poliomyelitis, paraplegic syndrome with trauma or
tumour) or the peripheral nervous system/muscular conditions
(e.g. Guillan-Barré syndrome, muscle dystrophy)
• a complete/incomplete paralysis of the legs (paraplegia/paraparesis)
and, if applicable, with inclusion of the torso musculature due to a
spinal condition (e.g. paraplegic syndrome with traumatic/
inflammatory/tumourous thoracic and lumbar lesion) or conditions
of the peripheral nervous system/muscular conditions
(e.g. polyneuropathia, muscular dystrophy)

The till. supine standing frame is used to assume a standing position to
achieve positive eects of an upright body position and/or to prepare
for gait training. The vertical position has a positive eect on the
cardiovascular regulation, the bone metabolism, the peristalsis and
urinary diversion. Standing training is used to prevent decubitus, a
thrombosis or joint contractures, it promotes head control, arm function
and spatial awareness. Spatial awareness is supported by possible
change in location of the aid by careful rolling in supine position, if the
clinical picture and the spatial conditions permit it.
2.3.2 Contraindications
In general, a doctor or orthopaedist should determine if there is any
contraindication. Any type of pain is to be considered a contraindication.
Strong contractures of the leg joint chain, extreme misalignment of the
spine and above all severe foot deformities, which cannot be compensa-
ted with shoes, can present a contraindication for the standing treatment.
The risk of secondary damage cannot be excluded. If necessary, standing
training can still be carried out on the doctor's instructions with an appro-
priate orthotic fitting. The extent to which the correction of misalignments,
contractures and deformities can be carried out must be clarified indivi-
dually.
In addition, very spastic or very flaccid patients, especially those with a
higher body weight, can be dicult to position in raising aids. It must also
be clarified whether the user can be brought into a complete stretching
position. For many users, initially only standing in a bent position is possible.
Never correct posture using force or strong pressure!
Depending on the clinical picture and therapy it must be clarified, how
long the user may remain in the supine standing frame. The following
symptoms may occur in some cases:
• Circulation problems
• Pain in the leg and back areas
• Epileptic spastic seizures
• Uncontrollable dystone tone fluctuations or stretching spasms

2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended purpose / warning guide-
lines
• Make sure that the supine standing frame is used by one user only.
• Never leave the user lying/standing in the supine standing frame
without supervision.
• The correct use of the supine standing frame requires precise and
careful training of the accompanying person.
• The max. load (see Point 6.1) must not be exceeded.
• Do not use the supine standing frame with defective, worn or missing
parts.
• For reasons of fire safety, the supine standing frame may not be placed
close to an open fire or any other strong source of heat such as electric
or gas heaters.
• Only use accessories and spare parts made by Schuchmann, otherwise
you will endanger the user.
• Only use the supine standing frame if all components have been
correctly mounted and adjusted.
• When adjusting the supine standing frame, there is the risk of the limbs
becoming trapped or crushed.
• Users who have diculty reading must have someone read these
Instructions for use aloud so that they understand how to use the
supine standing frame.
• Pay attention to the instructions for use and warnings for the sub-frame
with motor support (see Point 4.13 onwards).

2.8 General settings
The till. supine standing frame is delivered completely mounted and in
the smallest possible adjustment, unless any pre-adjustments have be
requested. Before the user is placed in the supine standing frame, a
pre-adjustment must be carried out.

2.9 Getting in and out
After all pre-adjustments have been made,
first lock all five castors for entering/exiting.
To do this, press down the locking device (A)
on each castor using the tip of your foot (B).
To release the castors, press the locking de-
vice up again using the tip of your foot (C).
The brakes only work reliably on level ground!
Now bring the reclining surface (D) to the
horizontal position (see Point 3.3 and 3.4)
and adjust the transfer height. When
transferring from a wheelchair, choose
a low height, a high one when doing a
transfer from a carrying position. If available,
fold the thorax and pelvis pelotte pads (see
Point 4.3) to the side and also release the
harness on one side (see Point 3.8).
Now you can move the user in the wheelchair / buggy etc. close to the
supine standing frame and lock the wheelchair / buggy. Lift the user out of
the wheelchair / buggy together with a second person or by using a lifter.
Place him on the supine standing frame, close first the harness and then
the thorax and pelvis pelotte pads (if available).
When adjusting the supine standing frame, there is the risk of the limbs
becoming trapped or crushed.
Now you can undertake the fine adjustments on the individual
components. Please observe here the guidelines on the adjustment of the
respective components (see Point 3).
Only have the user get in and out of the product on stable and at ground.

2.10 Transfer
till. can also be pushed carefully and slowly
during use (e.g. to other rooms). Here we
highly recommend transferring the user in
the supine and lowest position.
The following measures must be taken
beforehand:
• all fine adjustments to the individual
components must have been carried out
(see Point 3).
• the user must have been secured against
unintentional falling out of the frame (see
Point 3.8).
• the supine and standing position must
have been reduced to the smallest
possible adjustment (see Point 3).
The following holding and pushing points are
provided on till. for transfer:
For size 1+2 in the supine position:
• Shoulder (A) or push bar (C - if available)
and leg supports (B) at the same time
For size 1+2 in the standing position:
• Push bar (C- if available)
• Back (D) and leg supports (B) at the same time
For size 3+4 in the supine position:
• Shoulder (E) or push bar (G) and
leg supports (F) at the same time
For size 3+4 in the standing position:
• Push bar (G)
• Back (H- nor above the hip) and leg supports (F) at the same time
Make sure that always the two points mentioned are used when pushing in the
standing position without push bar to guarantee safe transfer.
Make sure that when transferring size 3+4 in the standing position, the user
must not be pushed above the hip at the back and that in general there is the risk
of tripping over the sub-frame when pushing.

Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in
the respective area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the
risk of injury.
As standard, till. is equipped with a tool (A)
for adjustment work, with the help of which
all provided hexagon socket screws can be
adjusted. The adjustable screws are marked
with a blue washer (B).
All adjustments (except for the upper body sup-
port length) can also be adjusted retrospecti-
vely. Make sure that during use all adjustments
may be changed only in the supine position to
exclude sliding down of the user!
3.1 Height adjustment (via gas pressure spring)
To adjust the reclining surface height forsizes
1+2 operate the lever (C), which is fitted as
standard on the frame body (D) or optionally
on the push bar (E), in both cases on the left,
and keep it pulled.
Now bring the reclining surface into thed-
esired position upwards or downwards and
release the lever (C) again.
For easy lowering of the reclining surface,
place a foot onto the tread surface (F)
and press the reclining surface downwards.
In upright position, after successful footrest
adjustment, the height adjustment can be
lowered until the floor.

3.2 Height adjustment (via motor)
The adjustment of the reclining surface
height for sizes 3+4 (optionally also for size
1+2) can be done using an electrical motor. It
has a safety switch o (see Point 4.13.6) and is
controlled manually (A).
To lower the reclining surface, press button
(B) and to raise press button (C). Release the
respective button as soon as you have
reached the desired height.
Sizes 3+4 of till. are equipped with an addi-
tional safety system for maximum stability in
any situation. This safety system ensures that
the reclining surface can only be raised to a
predefined height, if the reclining surface is in
the adjustment range of 45°-90° (see Fig. 1).
If during height adjustment the red arrow
(D) reaches the red marking at the central
column (E), the safety system automatically
stops the height adjustment.
In order to carry out another height
adjustment, the reclining surface must first
be brought to an angle between 0°-45° (see
Fig. 2 and Point 3.4). Then you can continue
with the height adjustment to the maximum
reachable height.
To determine the reclining surface angle
there is a scale (F) on both sides at the
adapter, with the help of which you can
orientate yourself quickly and easily and read
the angle.

3.3 Angle adjustment (via gas pressure
spring)
In order to change the angle of the reclining
surface for sizes 1+2 (see Point 3.4 for the
sizes 3+4) please operate the lever (A), which
can be found by default on the body (B)
or which is optionally mounted to the right
of the push bar (C) and keep it pulled. Now
bring the reclining surface into the desired
angle and release the lever (A) again
To determine the reclining surface angle
there is a scale (D) on both sides at the
adapter, with the help of which you can
orientate yourself quickly and easily and
read the angle.
To secure the reclining surface against
unintentional angle adjustment, we oer an
additional safety bolt (E) (see Point 4.11).

3.4 Angle adjustment (via motor)
The angle adjustment of the reclining
surface for sizes 3+4 is done using an
electrical motor (see Point 3.3 for sizes 1+2). It
has a safety switch-o (see Point 4.13.4) and
is controlled manually (A - see Point 4.13.5).
The reclining surface can be adjusted in a
range from 0° to 90° (see Fig. 1). In order to
change the reclining surface angle, press
buttons Band C. Using button Bmove the
reclining surface into the horizontal and
with button Cinto the vertical. Release the
respective button as soon as you have
reached the desired angle.
Keep in mind that sizes 3+4 of till. are
equipped with an additional safety system
for maximum stability in any situation. This
safety system ensures that the reclining
surface can only be adjusted from 45° to
90° if a predefined height has not been
exceeded (see Point 3.2).
To determine the reclining surface angle
there is a scale (D) on both sides at the
adapter, with the help of which you can
orientate yourself quickly and easily and read
the angle.

3.5 Upper body support
till. is available in size 1+2 with a standard
upper body support. In addition to this
version, there is also a contourable upper
body support (see Point 4.4) for size 3+4.
Both variants can be adjusted in length.
Before any adjustment to the length,
remove the padded elements (see Point
3.5.1 + 3.5.2) and bring the reclining
surface (without user) into the horizontal
(see Point 3.4). Afterwards loosen the
hexagon socket screws (A) for size 1+2.
For size 3+4 you must loosen the hexagon
socket screws (B) in the lateral profiles.
Once you have loosened the respective
screws, pull out the body (C) for an extension
or push it in for a reduction. To do this, get
a good hold of if or use for sizes 1+2 the
push bar (D)and support, if needed, the
adjustment by taking along the upper body
support pad (E).
Bring the reclining surface rst into a horizontal
position before carrying out any length
adjustment!
The length adjustment of the upper body
support may only be carried out without a user!

3.5.1 Pad elements (for easy upper body support)
The reclining surface growth is compensated
by adding/removing pad elements (A = end
piece + B = intermediate piece), which are
fixed by means of hook and loop closure.
Remove the pad elements (A+B) prior to
every adjustment to the upper body support
(see Point 3.5) and reattach the required
combination of pads.
The upper body support pad (C) and the
intermediate pieces (B) all have a loop
tape surface (D) at the lower edge to
accommodate an additional pad. The
intermediate pieces (B) as well as the end
piece (A) all have a hook tape (E) on the
back and can thus be randomly attached
to the individual loop surface (F) of another
pad.
To remove a pad, simply pull it o the one one
positioned above it. Pad elements that are
not required, can be stored under the upper
body support pad (C) in the back area.

3.5.1 Pad elements (for contourable upper body support)
The reclining surface growth is compensated
by adding/removing pad elements (A = end
piece + B = intermediate piece), which are
fixed by means of hook and loop and press
studs (C). Remove the pad elements (A+B)
prior to every adjustment to the upper body
support (see Point 3.5) and reattach the
required combination of pads.
At the lower edge of the upper body
support pad (D) there is a connection piece
(E). To this, up to three intermediate pieces (B)
as well as one end piece (A) can be axed
using press studs (C).
Depending on how the upper body support
length is adjusted, the intermediate pieces
(B) must be removed or added and the end
piece (A) might have to be moved upwards
by 1-3 positions (F).
To remove a pad, loosen the press studs on
both sides of each pad (C). Please store pad
elements that are not required in a dry place.

3.6 Adapters for leg supports
For till. there are two dierent adapters for
the leg supports (standard + abductable).
Using the hexagon socket screws (A) on the
rear side of till., the level can be adjusted
from 0-5 cm for both variants. For the
abductable variant the angle can also be
adjusted (see Point 4.5).
3.7 Leg length
till. is available with two leg supports
(standard + flex). Both variants can be
adjusted in length. Compared to the
standard version, the angle of the flexible leg
(flex) can also be adjusted (see Point 4.6).
For the "standard" version undo the screws
(B) to adjust the overall length of the leg.
For optimal positioning of the knee, release
the twist grip (C) and bring the leg into the
desired position.
For the "flex" version there are two setting screws that are essential for
the length adjustment of the leg. If you loosen the upper hexagon socket
screw (D), you can lengthen or shorten the thigh dimensions by pulling or
pushing. When you loosen the lower screw (E) you can bring the lower leg
dimensions to the desired length.
Tighten all screws again after each adjustment!
