WARNING WARNING identifies a dangerous situation, which may result

not avoided.
NOTE Note identifies possible damage to property that may result
from non-observance.

2.2 Safety regulations for the method of operation
National standards, regulations and legislation
Siemens products are developed and produced in compliance with the relevant
European and international safety standards. Should additional country-specific or
local safety standards or regulations concerning the project planning, assembly,
installation, operation or disposal of the product apply at the place of operation,
then these must also be taken into account together with the safety regulations
mentioned in the product documentation.
Electrical installations

zWork on electrical installations may only be carried out by qualified
electricians or by instructed persons working under the guidance and
supervision of a qualified electrician, in accordance with the electrotechnical
regulations.
zIf possible de-energize products on which commissioning, maintenance or
repair work is being undertaken.
zLock areas that have been de-energized so that they cannot be switched back
on by mistake.
zLabel connection terminals with an external source of voltage using a
'DANGER external source of voltage' board.
zSeparately route feeders to products and fuse these with their own, clearly
marked fuses.
zFit an easily accessible disconnecting device in accordance with IEC 60950-1:
2005 outside of the installation.
zEarth according to local safety regulations.
Assembly, installation, commissioning and maintenance
zIf you need aids like a ladder, the aids must be safe and suitable for the work to
be carried out.
zWhen starting the fire control panel ensure that unstable statuses cannot occur.
zEnsure that all points listed in the following section 'Testing the product
operability' are observed.
zYou may only set controls to normal function when the product operability has
been completely tested and the system has been handed over to the customer.

Testing the product operability
zPrevent the remote transmission from triggering for no reason.
zWhen testing building installations or controlling devices from external
companies, you must work with the responsible people.
zThe activation of fire control installations for test purposes must not cause
injury or damage to the building installations. The following instructions must be
observed:
‒ Use the correct potential for activation; this is generally the potential of the
building installation.
‒ Only check controls up to the interface (relay with blocking option).
‒ Make sure that only the controls to be tested are activated.
zInform people before testing alarming equipment and allow for any potential
panic responses.
zInform people of any noise or mist that may be produced.
zInform the relevant points that will receive alarms and faults before testing
remote transmission.
Changes to the system layout and products
Modifications to the system and to individual products may lead to faults,
malfunctioning and safety risks. The written consent of Siemens and the relevant
safety bodies must be obtained for modifications or additions.
Modules and spare parts
zComponents and spare parts must comply with the technical specifications
defined by Siemens. Only use products which have been specified or
recommended by Siemens.
zOnly use fuses with the specified fuse characteristics.
zWrong battery types and improper battery changing lead to a risk of explosion.
Only use the specified battery type or an equivalent battery type recommended
by Siemens.
zBatteries must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Observe
national guidelines and specifications.

Disregard of the safety regulations
Before they are delivered, Siemens products are tested to ensure they function
correctly when used properly. Siemens disclaims all liability for injury or damage
caused by misuse or the disregard of the instructions or danger warnings contained
in the documentation. This applies in particular to:

Overview of FDM1101-Rx

The manual call points FDM1101-Rx are for manually triggering alarms in the case
of fire. They consist of a cover and a switching unit. Two back boxes are available
as options for surface-mounted feed lines. Back box FDMH295-R does not have
pre-drilled holes for surface-mounted feed lines. Back box FDMH295-S has two
holes and grommets on its top and can be used for surface-mounted feed lines
with a cable diameter of 5 mm.
The activation button can either be actuated using a resettable plastic insert or a
breakable glass insert.
A protective cover can be optionally used to prevent unintentional triggering of
alarms.
The manual call points have the following characteristics:

3.2 Setup
3.2.1 Connections
Manual call points FDM1101-Rx have 4 connection terminals on their rear for the
detector line. At the end of the collective detector line, a control-panel specific line
termination element (EOL) must be connected with the connection terminal.

Manual call points FDM1101-Rx have a red LED. Only the optical fiber can be seen
from the outside.

3.3 Function
3.3.1 Danger levels
Manual call points can transmit the following danger levels to the control panel:

Comment
The evaluation of the danger level and the decisions to be taken (e.g. activation of
remote transmission) are configured in the control panel.
3.3.2 Test mode
A test mode can be set on the control panel to test the manual call point. When in
test mode, alarms from the manual call points are not forwarded by the control
panel.
The manual call points can be tested using the key.

4Project engineering
4.1 Compatibility
Compatible with all fire detection systems with collective/SynoLINE600 signal
processing. Refer to 'List of compatibility' (doc. no. 008331) for details.
4.2 Ranges of application
The manual call points are intended for use in places where a fire can be detected
by people who can manually trigger an alarm.
4.3 Installation site
The manual call points must be installed in easily accessible places at a height of
1.3 ... 1.6 m.
