retractableawningtoprovide
shadingfromthesunand
protectionfromthewind
automaticallyandconveniently.
Thesunandwindsensors
continuallymonitorsunintensity
andwindspeed,triggeringthe
controlunittoextendorretract
theawningasneeded.
TheOutdoorDSMfeatures
advancedcircuitrythatassures
factorypresetaccuracyand
provenreliability.Itaidsin
protectingfurnitureandcarpeting
fromfadingandsavesonheating
andairconditioningcosts.The
systemiscomprisedofplug-in
components,soinstallationis
sim pleandquick.
INSTALLATIONPROCEDURES
1.Makesurethatthesunsensorisfacingthesunandnot
shadedbytreesorotherbuildingstructures.Itshouldbe
mountedashighaspossible,nomorethan100feetfromthe
OutdoorDecoratorSomfy-Matic.Thedetectionangleisup
to100degreeswidefromthecenterofthesensorface.
2.Thewindsensorshouldbeplacedclosetotheawningor
shadingsystemtomakesurethewindspeedismeasuredat
theproduct.Guardagainstinstallingthewindsensornear
anobstructionsuchasachimney,gutterortheawningitself.
Thewindsensorshouldnotbemorethan100feetfromthe
OutdoorDSM.
3.Mountthesunandwindsensorjunctionboxinaconcealed
locationsuchasunderaneave.
4.Connectthemotorcabletothe4-conductorreceptacleon
thetopofthecontrolbox.Thesensorcableconnectsto
the3-conductorreceptacle.
5.Plugthepowercableintoaweatherproofreceptacle..

SETTINGTHEWINDANDSUNLEVELS
TESTPROCEDURES
1.PressingtheUPbuttonwillmovetheawningin,whilethe
DOWNbuttonwillextendtheawningwhenpressed.Ifthe
motordoesnotmoveinthecorrectdirection,theincorrect
modelOutdoorDSMisinstalled.Theappropriatemodel
OutdoorDSMmustbeobtained..
2.PressingtheSTOPbuttonwillstopthemotorinitspresent
position.
3.WhenthemonitoredsunintensityisgreaterthantheOutdoor
SomfyMaticsetting,theDOWNdirectionwillactivateafter3.5
minutes.ThesunLEDwilllightforaslongasthiscondition
exists.IfthesunintensityislessthantheOutdoorDSMsetting,
theUPdirect ionwillactivate,ifpreviouslydown,after12
minutes.ThesunLEDwillblinkduringthistimeperiod.
4.WhenthemonitoredwindspeedisgreaterthantheOutdoor
DSMsetting,theUPdirectionwillactivateafter2seconds.The
windLEDwilllightaslongasthisconditionexists.Whenthe
windspeeddropsbelowthesetvalue,theSomfyMaticwill
returntonormalmodeafter15minutes.ThewindLEDwill
blinkandthemotorsarepreventedfromoperatingduringthis
timeperiod.
5.WhentheAUTObuttonispressed,theAUTOLEDwillturnon
oroffdependingonitspreviousstatus.Manualmodeis
desig natedbytheLEDbeingoff.IftheOutdoorSomfyMaticis
inmanualmode,thesunlevelhasnoinfluenceonmotor
control.Thewindspeedisconstantlymonitoredandactedon
regardlessofAUTOsetting.
1.Pressingthesunsetbuttonforlessthan2secondswilldisplay
thecurrentsunsettingontherowofyellowLEDs.OneLEDwill
lightfor5secondstosignifythelevel.TheOutdoorDSMis
factorypresetattheexactmiddle.
2.Pressingthewindbutton(whichisonlyaccessiblebyinsertinga
thintoolsuchasapencilpointthroughanopeninginthefront
plate)forlessthat2secondswilldisplaythecurrentwindsetting
ontherowofredLEDs.OneLEDwilllightfor5seconds,
signifyingthepresentlevel.ThewindspeedLEDsaredivided
asfollows;thebottomLEDis12m.p.h.,witheachhigherLED
increasinginincrementsof3.ThetopLEDisequivalentto31
m.p.h.TheOutdoorSomfyMaticisfactorypresetto22m.p.h.,
orthemiddleLED.
3.Depressingthewindorsunswitchformorethan2secondswill
causethecoincidingrowofLEDstoturnoninsequence.
StartingfromthebottomLED,orlowestlevel,tothetopLED,or
hightestlevel,thesequencewillrepeatuntilthesetbuttonis
released.WhentheLEDmatchingthedesiredlevelislit,release
thebutton.Thiswillestablishthenewthresholdsetting.

ToverifyproperoperationoftheDecoratorSomfyMaticafterinitial
installation,pleasefollowthefollowingsteps.
1.Verifyproperoperationofthemotor;pressingthe
UPbuttonshouldbringtheawningin,pressing
DOWNshouldextendtheawningout,andtheSTOP
buttonshouldstoptheawningatitspresent
position.
2.TheAUTOLEDshouldturnonandoffwhenthe
AUTOswitchispressed.
3.ThesunlevelLEDsshouldlightifthesensoris
activatedbyeitherthesunorotherlightsource,
suchasaflashlight.
4.ThewindlevelLEDsshouldlightifthesensoris
spuneitherbyhandorothersource ,suchasa
gardenhoseorfan.
5.Toresetthelock-outdelay,interruptthepowertothe
Somfy-Matic
