1About this product
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk office furniture
product line by Steelcase is subject to continuous
quality control during manufacture and distribution.
This ensures fault-free functionality.
The product has been designed and manufactured in
accordance with the state of the technology (in
Germany at the time of design) and recognised
safety regulations; nevertheless, hazards can occur.
Please follow the respective safety instructions!
Malfunctions that could impair safety must be
eliminated immediately. We reserve the right to
make technical changes to the products for technical
reasons.
Steelcase applies a quality management system that
meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001.
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk with the Memory
control panel has the CE marking.
The electric height adjustment unit type plates are
located on the power lift housing, on the columns,
and under the desktop near the control panel.
1.1 Intended use
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk is exclusively designed
to be used as office furniture for both private and
commercial use. Any other use or use beyond the
specified intended use is considered improper use.
Intended use also includes following all
instructions in the user guide.
1.1.1 Foreseeable misuse
Improper use of the product can result in danger to
life and limb as well as property damage. For this
reason, improper use is prohibited. In the event of
improper use, Steelcase assumes no liability for any
damage that could occur and does not guarantee
that the components will function properly.
Possible improper use includes:
■Lifting loads.
■Use as a climbing aid.
■Use for the permanent storage of objects with a
total weight exceeding 75 kg.
■Outdoor use.
■Use in damp rooms.
This list does not claim to be exhaustive.
1.1.2 Users with limitations
Risk of injury or damage to the desk!
This desk can be used by children 8
years of age and older, as well as by
persons with reduced physical, sensory,
or mental capabilities, or lack of
experience and knowledge, if they are
supervised, or have been instructed in
the safe use of the desk, and
understand the dangers associated with
using the desk.
Children are not allowed to play with the
device.
Children are not allowed to carry out
cleaning tasks or user’s maintenance
tasks.
Unsupervised use of the desk by
children
can cause serious injury and death.
Remove and secure the mains cable
when the desk is not in use.

2.1 Safety instructions
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk may only be used and
operated in perfect technical condition and in
compliance with this user guide.
The user of the Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk undertakes
to follow the safety instructions and warnings in this
user guide.
In addition to the user guide, the general and local
regulations on accident prevention and
environmental protection must be made available
and followed.
2.2 Safety information and
warnings
To prevent personal injury and damage to property,
this Bedienungsanleitung contains warnings at the
appropriate locations. The symbols and signal words
have the following meaning:

Type plate: symbols –explanation
Double insulation. Double insulated
cables minimise the risk of electrical
shock.
For indoor use. Indicates that
placing the product outdoors is not
allowed.
CE marking. Used to symbolise the
conformity of the product with the
applicable requirements that the
European Community places on the
manufacturer.
Recycling symbol. Used to indicate
conformity with the regulations for
Waste Electric and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) and the Electrical
and Electronic Equipment Act
(ElektroG). Electrical and electronic
products must be disposed of
separately from household waste at
the end of their service life.
The CE marking is located on the underside of the
desktop and can be viewed at any time.
3.2 Components
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk essentially consists of
the following components (the variant descriptions
can be found in the respective chapters):
■Desktop
■Horizontal structural profile section (bolted to the
desktop)
■Software and hardware-supported stopping
device with a sensor for system protection
■Columns with bolted steel pipe runner (88.5 x 48
x 1.5 mm), including adjustment screw for
compensating floor unevenness, and a cable duct
■Plastic cap, top left/right
■Desktop support, top left/right
■Electrical height adjustment:
–Lift 2: Electric motor (650 to 1250 mm), in
column, including software-supported
stopping device and sensor
–Power lift for lifting height adjustment
–Standard: Memory control panel with display
for height indication; programming function
for four desk heights
3.3 Factory setting on delivery

The control panel cable is connected to
the power lift. This is under the desktop.
Electrical height adjustment
5 Operating and adjusting describes how
to operate the electrical height
adjustment unit.
The electrical height adjustment unit enables the
adjustment and fixed programming for four optimum
desk heights (sitting height and standing height).
The electrical height adjustment unit essentially
consists of the following components:
■Lift 2: Electric motor 650 to 1250 mm
■Control panel
■Power lift

Danger of crushing and shearing!
Body parts or objects could be crushed or sheared off as a result of the electrical height
adjustment process.
Maintain sufficient lateral clearance (at least 25 mm) to all surrounding objects, walls, etc.
throughout the lifting range.
Set up the desk in such a manner that there is sufficient space for lift movements and for
the performance of maintenance tasks.

4.1 Safety instructions
Risk of injury or damage!
The fastening screws could tear if the desk
is lifted by the desktop or the attached
components.
Always grab the desk at the underframe
to transport or move it.
4.2 Interim storage
Whenever the Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk is
temporarily stored before setup, the following
conditions must be met:
■Intact transport packaging
■Sufficient carrying capacity of the floor
■Dry floor
■Level placement surface
■Temperature range: +10°C to +40°C

4.3 Checking the delivery
contents
After unpacking, check the product immediately for
damage sustained during transport and for
completeness; inform the manufacturer of any
damage as soon as possible.
4.4 Disposing of the packaging
material
The packaging consists of the following materials:
■Outer cardboard packaging
■Cardboard edge protectors
■Plastic strapping
These materials are recyclable. Please ensure that
the packaging material is correctly sorted by type
and returned to the recycling process.
4.5 Assembly
Please follow the provided assembly instructions to
assemble the Migration SE product.
4.5.1 Dismantling the product
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk can be dismantled into
its partially assembled components.
4.5.2 Re-assembly
Follow the separate assembly instructions in this
regard.
4.6 Electrical connection
Check the electrical equipment of the
desk. Fix loose connections or damaged
cables immediately.
Attach or detach connectors only when
the equipment is de-energised.
The plug of the desk must be easily
accessible at all times.

4.7 Setting up the product
Setup and use of the product require detailed
planning.
The partially assembled components for the Solo
Sit-to-Stand Desk are supplied directly by the
manufacturer.
The setup location must meet the following
requirements:
■Sufficient carrying capacity of the floor
■Level placement surface
■Temperature range: +5°C to +35°C
■Max. rel. humidity: 80%

4.8 Height levelling
To compensate for uneven floors, you can raise each
foot by up to 10 mm with an adjusting screw.
For a desk that has already been assembled: before
levelling, remove any objects from the desktop.

5.1 Safety instructions
The product may only be used and operated in
perfect technical condition and in compliance with
the user guide.
Before adjusting the height of the desk, ensure that:
■The desktop is level. In case of uneven floors,
you can adjust the height using the adjusting
screws on the feet.
■That no person or object (e.g. open doors or
windows) is in the lifting range, or protrudes into
the lifting range.
■No one is on the desk.
■The maximum permissible desk load-carrying
capacity is not exceeded.
Optimum desk height
The adjustment to the optimum desk height (sitting
height) is crucial for the correct sitting posture at the
workstation. The correct desk height setting for the
workstation can be found in the workstation analysis
(pursuant to the German Occupational Safety and
Health Act, the German VDU Workplace Ordinance,
or accident prevention regulations, for example). See
also BGI 650: Computer and office workstations.
Guidelines for design.
Danger due to voltage!
Contact with voltage can cause severe
injury or death due to electric shock.
Attach or detach connectors only when
the equipment is de-energised.
Do not open the housing of the
following components:
–Power lift
–Columns and control panel
Danger due to voltage!
The metal parts of the desk can become
energised if live cables and connections
are damaged.
Do not earth electrical devices on the
desk frame.
Risk of injuries and damage!
The fastening screws could tear if the desk
is lifted by the desktop or the attached
components.
Always grab the desk at the underframe
to transport or move it.
Ensure that the connecting cables of all
devices on the desk are long enough.
5.2 Height adjustment of the
product
On the Lift 2 variant, the height of the Solo Sit-to-
Stand Desk is adjusted via an electrically powered,
variable lifting mechanism.
5.2.1 Lift 2 variant
The Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk can be variably
adjusted by means of an electric motor to a height
between 650 mm and 1250 mm (Lift 2 variant).
Before first use, ensure that:
■The product has been assembled correctly
■The control panel is connected to the power lift
■All safety instructions have been followed
For the power connection
Insert the mains plug into a power point
supplying 220/230 V.

5.2.2 Memory control panel
Four different memory positions can be entered with
the Memory control panel.

panel.

Press the appropriate “Up or Down” button
to reach the desired desk height.
=The desktop moves up or down.
Release the “Up or Down” button.
=The desktop stops at the desired point. The
display indicates the desk height.
Control panel –lock/unlock
Swipe to the right of the display to “lock or
unlock” the control panel.
=The control panel is locked or unlocked.

Configuring memory positions
Press the “Up” or “Down” button until the
desired height is reached.
=The display indicates the desk height (e.g.
73 cm).
Press the “SAVE” button.
Press the desired “Memory position”
button (e. g. button “2”)
=The display indicates S 2.
The display indicates the desk height after
roughly 2 seconds.
Calling up memory positions
Press and hold the corresponding memory
position button (e.g. button “1” or button
“2”, etc.).
=The desktop is moved until the stored
desktop height is reached. The desktop
movement is stopped whenever the button
is released before the memory position has
been reached.
Limiting height adjustability
These settings can limit the desktop
movement range (for example if there is a
rolling file cabinet under the desk or a set of
shelves above it).
The stopping positions for the rolling file
cabinet become the new lowermost end
position, and the shelf stopping positions
become the new uppermost end position.
Move the desktop to the lower half or the
upper half of the movement range.
Press and hold the “SAVE” button for 10
seconds
=The position is saved.

Changing the displayed unit –CM/INCH
Simultaneously press and hold the buttons
“1”, “2” and “Up” for three seconds; then
release the buttons.
=The letter S and a number (e.g. S 7) are
indicated on the display.
Press and hold the “Up” button until S 5 is
indicated on the display.
=S 5 is displayed.
Press the “SAVE” button.
=If the display was previously set to
centimetres (cm), it will now be switched
over to inches (inch) and vice versa.
Resetting to factory settings
This function can be used to reset the
system to the factory settings.
Press and hold the buttons shown below for
3 sec.:
aPress buttons “1” and “2” and the
b“Up” button
=The letter Sand a number (e.g. S 4) are
shown on the display
Press the “Down” button until S 0 is shown
on the display.
=The display indicates S 0
Press the “SAVE” button.
=The system has now been reset to the
factory settings.

6.1 Safety instructions
The following information always applies to resolving
problems:
Danger due to voltage!
Contact with voltage can cause
severe injury or death due to electric
shock.
Attach or detach connectors only
when the equipment is de-
energised.
Do not open the housings of the
following components:
- Power lift
- Columns
- Control panel
PLEASE NOTE
Risk of damage to electrical equipment!
Do not use the mains cable to pull
the plug out of the socket.
Error messages displayed on the Memory
control panel
If faults occur during operation of the desk, please
check whether it is being operated in accordance
with the user guide. In most cases, this will help you
find and eliminate the problem.
For the Memory control panel, some faults that could
occur are indicated on the display.
The tables below should help you to determine the
cause and correct the error or fault.

7.1 Safety instructions
Only use suitable tools for all these
operations.
A damaged mains cable must be replaced
by the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s
customer service staff or similarly
qualified personnel to prevent hazards.
7.2 Functional check
The components of the Solo Sit-to-Stand Desk
must be checked for correct functioning at regular
intervals. Pay particular attention to the electrical
connections:
■The electrical equipment of the desk
must be checked regularly. Fix loose
connections or damaged cables
immediately.
■Attach or detach connectors only
when the equipment is de-energised.
■The plug of the desk must be easily
accessible at all times.

7.4 Maintenance work
For maintenance work, please contact our Customer
Service Department. (see 9 Service ).
Before adjusting the height of the desk, make sure
that the desktop is level. If the floor is uneven, align
the desktop with the adjusting screws on the feet.
Ensure that there are no objects in the movement
range of the lift column!
Danger due to voltage!

the equipment is de-energised.

Unintentional lifting or lowering of the
desktop can cause injury.
For maintenance work on all non-
electrical components of the desk,
detach the electrical connection of the
height adjustment unit from the mains.

The fastening screws could tear if the desk
is lifted by the desktop or the attached
components.
Always grab the desk at the underframe
to transport or move it.
PLEASE NOTE
Risk of damage to lift mechanism!
The values stored in the power lift do not
match the settings of a different desk.
After dismantling the desk, e.g. for transport
reasons:
Reassemble the two side frames
only with the appropriate
desktop cross-member of the
same desk.
Follow the separate assembly
instructions in this regard.
PLEASE NOTE
Using unapproved spare parts can
cause damage to the desk.
Only components provided by Steelcase
may be used as spare parts. Coordinate
the installation of differing parts with
Steelcase.
Comply with the specified
maintenance and inspection
intervals.
7.4.1 Exclusion of liability
Steelcase assumes no liability or warranty in the
following cases (see Liability, Page 2 ):
■Inadequate monitoring of the product
components (functional checks).
■Improper maintenance.
■Maintenance by a third party.
■Maintenance by unqualified personnel.
■Use of components and adaptations that do not
originate from Steelcase.
■Unapproved modifications to the product with
regard to its design and configuration.
■Deliberate incorrect operation.
■Improper use (see 1.1 Intended Use ).

7.4.2 Cleaning and care
PLEASE NOTE
Moisture could damage the control
panel and the power lift!
Keep the control panel free of moisture
and liquids.
Keep the power lift free of moisture and
liquids.
Only use polishing and cleaning agents that are
suitable for the respective materials (wood, plastics,
metals, etc.).
Clean the desk surface regularly and if visibly
soiled.
Use cleaning agents that are suitable for the
respective materials to regularly clean hidden
and visible components.

Disposal

8Disposal
If you want to disassemble and dispose of the Solo
Sit-to-Stand Desk permanently, proceed as
follows:
Disconnect the desk from the electrical power
supply.
Separate the resulting parts according to
–reusable components,
–material groups to be disposed of (wood,
metals, plastics, electrical parts, etc.),
and ensure that they are recycled. Compliance with
all applicable regional regulations is required.
In case of disassembly, ask the manufacturer for
recycling instructions.

Unter einer oder mehreren der folgenden Bedingungen kann es zu
einem Haftungsausschluss der Firma Steelcase kommen:
▪Bestimmungswidriger Gebrauch des Produktes.
▪Einsatz des Produktes, der über das Maß einer sinnvollen
Zweckbestimmung als Büromöbel geht.
▪Betreiben des Produktes mit defekten oder
funktionsuntüchtigen Sicherheits- und Schutzvorrichtungen.
▪Verwendung von Bauteilen und Adaptionen, die nicht von
Steelcase stammen. Bei fremdbezogenen Teilen ist nicht
gewährleistet, dass sie beanspruchungs- und
sicherheitsgerecht konstruiert und gefertigt sind.
▪Planungen von Drittanbietern, die nachweislich zu einem
Fehlgebrauch des Produktes führen.
▪Nicht genehmigte Änderungen des Produktes in seiner
Konstruktion und Ausführungsweise.
▪Belastungen des Produktes, die über die vom Hersteller
angegebenen Belastungsgrenzen gehen.
▪Unsachgemäße Instandhaltung, Instandhaltung durch Dritte.
▪Mangelhafte Überwachung der Produktkomponenten
(Funktionskontrollen).
▪Unsachgemäße Entsorgung und Rückführung des Produktes
oder der Verpackung in den Wertstoffkreislauf.
▪Weiterverkauf an Dritte, wenn diesem/diesen die
Bedienungsanleitung nicht mitgeliefert wird.
▪Katastrophenfälle durch Fremdkörpereinwirkung und höhere
Gewalt.
Bei umfangreichen Montage-, Wartungs- und Entsorgungstätigkei-
ten ist unbedingt für diese Aufgaben qualifiziertes Fachpersonal
heranzuziehen.
