Safety
The following basic safety tips are given to ensure safe installation, operation, and
maintenance of Stratasys equipment and are not to be considered as comprehensive on
matters of safety. Although the F3300 printers are designed to be safe and reliable, access to
areas of the printer are potentially dangerous.
Safe Environment
• Connect equipment to a grounded facility power source. Do not defeat or bypass the
ground lead.
• Know the location of equipment branch circuit interrupters or circuit breakers and how to
turn them on and off in case of emergency.
• Know the location of fire extinguishers and how to use them. Use only ABC type
extinguishers on electrical fires.
• Know local procedures for first aid and emergency assistance at the customer facility.
• Use adequate lighting at the equipment.
• Maintain the recommended range of temperature and humidity in equipment area.
• Do not use this product in an environment containing volatile or flammable compounds.

About the F3300 Printer
The Stratasys F3300 3D printer is the first product in a new F3000 series platform. The F3300
is a multi-extruder Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer designed for the smart
manufacturing floor. It incorporates the latest in innovative technology to provide leading FDM
performance in throughput, part quality and reliability. It can produce jigs, fixtures and
production parts that exceed expectations in build time, cost and quality. It will also allow users
to achieve results in ROI with traceability, data analytics and future expansion possibilities. The
Stratasys F3300 printer provides advanced 3D printing for intelligent industrial performance.

How to Use This Guide
This guide provides information for selecting an appropriate location for the F3300 printer. This
guide also provides instructions for unpacking and preliminary set-up. Information of special
importance is presented in one of three formats:
A Warning: indicates a procedure that may cause injury to an operator if the
procedure is not followed.
A Warning: will precede the paragraph of instruction to which it relates.
A Caution: indicates a procedure that may cause damage to equipment if the
procedure is not followed.

Selecting the Installation Site
Decide where to install the printer based on the following:
1. Space Requirements
2. Environmental Requirements
3. Electrical Requirements
4. Compressed Air Requirements

Dimensions and Weights
Make sure that the installation site floor space can accommodate the printer’s weight and
dimensions, plus required clearances. The installation location must be a flat level surface that
is stable and capable of holding 1452 kg (3200 lbs).
The F3300 printer does not have casters. Due to the size of the printer, a forklift
is required to move the crated system to an un-boxing location and to the final
selected installation site.
The F3300 printers are capable of generating vibrations depending mainly on
part build geometry and material characteristics. This consideration will need to
be taken into account if locating the printer near vibration sensitive equipment.
Warning:
Due to the physical size and weight of the F3300 printer, it is required to use a
forklift or pallet jack when moving the printer.

Minimum Operational Clearances
Sufficient side clearances allow for proper air circulation and maintenance access, while the
recommended front and rear clearances also allows enough room to open doors to the oven
and electronics bay. The top hinged covers require additional overhead clearance to fully open.

Environmental Requirements
• Printer shipping temperature shall be in the range of -40°C to 70°C (-40°F to 158°F). In
freezing temperatures, bring the printer indoors and leave crated until the it reaches room
temperature.
• Air quality conditions with excessive solid particulates (conductive or non-conductive) may
result in system damage.
• Air quality conditions in which airborne oils are allowed to accumulate on or within the
printer can damage the plastic components.
• System operating temperature shall be in the range of 15°C to 30°C (60°F to 86°F), with
relative humidity range of 20% to 80% non-condensing.
• System storage temperature shall be in the range of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F), with
relative humidity range of 20% to 90% non-condensing.
• Altitude shall not exceed 3000 m (9843 ft).
• Material storage shall be in the range of 13°C to 30°C (55°F to 86°F), with relative humidity
less than 70%.
• Noise emission (acoustic): <65dBA when idle and when building

Electrical Requirements
The facility power is required to meet the following power quality and nominal voltage
requirements:
• 50 Hz/ 60 Hz dedicated circuit (47 to 63 Hz)
• 3-phase, 5-wire wye (L-L-L-N-G), 208VAC, 30A circuit with frequency range (47-63Hz.)
• Input voltage tolerance is ±10% from nominal (187 to 229VAC)
• Peak operating current: 23A
• Dedicated circuit: 30 A
• Leakage (touch) current: <1.0mA (under all conditions)
• Site must include a disconnecting means that is readily accessible and within sight of the
printer during operation. Possible connection methods include cord and plug attachment or
direct wiring.
• The connection method and required disconnecting means shall be installed in accordance
with all applicable electrical codes and approved by the authority having jurisdiction.
• Site must be equipped with appropriate lockout tagout kit for equipment.
Operation of the system outside this range is not recommended and degradation of the system
performance and shortened component life expectancy will be experienced.
The system is to be operated on a 3-phase service meeting the recommendations for power
quality given in IEEE Standard 141-1993. Facilities who are unsure of their power quality
should contact their service provider.

Compressed Air Requirements
The system has an onboard pressure regulator. The system has onboard particle
filtration, water, and oil separation.
• Supply pressure at the system: 90-110 psi
• Minimum flow of 13 SCFM
• Less than 35°C (95°F)
• Non-lubricated
• Non-condensing
• Connection: Dimensional standard A-A-59439, 3/8” Body Size (also
conforms to ISO 6150-B-15 standard)
• DIN ISO 8573-1 Quality of Particles: Class 4, Humidity and liquid
water: Class 4, Oil: Class 2

There are 3 options for coupling the compressed air source:
• Clamp a 3/8 inch ID hose to the installed female removable fitting (the female has a 3/8
inch hose barb).
• Attach the female half of the quick disconnect to the male coupling half (i.e., if the
installer does not want to use the hose barb). The female coupling must receive a male
nipple meeting dimensional standard A-A-59439,Body Size 3/8"/ISO-6150-B-15.
• Remove the installed male/female quick disconnect and attach to the 1/2 inch NPT(F)
thread.
This method will not allow a quick disconnection from the air supply.

LAN Requirements
If utilizing a LAN connection for communication and file transfer functions, the LAN connection
is a 100 base T, Ethernet protocol, RJ45 connector. One 4.57 m (15 foot) CAT6, 10/100 base T
cable is supplied with the printer, located in the Welcome Kit. The printer will function in either
DHCP or Static IP configurations.

Preparing for Installation
Inspect Crate for Damage
Before opening the shipping crate, inspect the crate for signs of exterior damage. Report
evidence of excessive damage to Stratasys and the shipping company.
Required Tools and Equipment
• Basic hand tools (impact drill or standard drill with #2 square bit and 13mm socket)
• Utility knife
• Forklift truck of sufficient size with 193 cm [76 in] minimum length forks to raise the system
from the shipping base
• Ladder
• Two or more people
Moving the Crated Printer
The F3300 shipping crate is designed to be lifted and moved by forklift from the designated
locations on the sides of the shipping base (Figure 6). Move the crate to a flat, open area with
at least 254 cm (100 inches) of clearance on all sides.

Warning:
The crated printer weighs 1724 kg (3800 lbs). Make sure that equipment and
personnel are capable of moving the system.

Unpacking the Printer
1. Remove each of the individual crate panels (one at a time) from the crate assembly using
the sequential procedure described below. Observe the following notes:
a. Remove the screws (14) securing panel #5 to the top of the crate. Remove the panel
(Figure 7).
b. Remove the screws (10) securing panel #4 to the top of the crate. Remove the panel.

Make sure that there is at least 254 cm (100 inches) of clearance around the base of
the shipping crate for removing shipping materials.
• Each individual crate panel can be identified by the number printed on it.
• Black dots on exterior of crate panels indicate wood screw locations.
• Use a drill with a #2 square drive bit to remove wood screws.
• After removing a side crate panel, move counter-clockwise to the next side
crate panel.
• Use a ladder or scaffold to access the top of the crate.

c. Remove the screws (15) securing panel #1 to the front of the crate. Carefully lift and
remove the panel.
d. Remove the screws (10) securing panel #2 to the front of the crate. Remove the panel.

e. Moving counter-clockwise around the crate, remove the screws (10) securing panel #1
to the side of the crate. Slide the panel away and remove it from the crate.
f. Remove the screws (8) securing panel #3 to the side of the crate. Remove the panel.

g. Moving counter-clockwise around the crate, remove the screws (10) securing panel #1
to the back of the crate. Slide the panel away and remove it from the crate.
h. Remove the screws (10) securing panel #2 to the back of the crate. Remove the panel.

i. Moving counter-clockwise around the crate, remove the screws (10) securing panel #1
to the remaining side of the crate. Slide the panel away and remove it from the crate.
j. Remove the screws (3) securing the final panel #3 to the base of the crate. Remove the
panel.

2. Carefully pull away and remove the plastic shrink wrap from the printer.
Caution:
If necessary, use a utility knife to cut away any remaining plastic shrink wrap
material. Use care when cutting the plastic shrink wrap to avoid scratching the
printer’s surfaces.

3. Remove the screws (20) and retention boards (4) securing the protective printer bag to the
shipping base. Carefully remove the bag and from the printer.

4. Remove all protective foam pieces from the top of the printer and the touchscreen display.

5. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, remove the screws (16) securing the printer’s structural
lifting channels (2) to the shipping base retention brackets (4).

6. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, remove the screws and washers (8 sets) securing the
retention brackets (4) to the shipping base. Remove the retention brackets.

7. Spread the forklift forks to 41 cm (16 in) to fit inside the structural lifting channels
underneath the printer.
8. Using the forklift and the structural lifting channels (Figure 16), lift the printer above the
shipping base.

9. Carefully remove and set aside the shipping base from beneath the printer.
10. Gently lower the printer to the floor.
11. Remove any remaining tape on the external surfaces of the printer.
12. Inspect the printer’s exterior for dents and scratches. Immediately report any damage to
Stratasys and the shipping company.

Access the fork lift openings from the front of the printer (Figure 16).
