SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Read all instructions Failure to follow all instructions listed below
may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term “power tool” in
all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Work area
a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite
accidents.
b. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. Electrical safety
a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in
any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or
unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges
or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric
shock.
e. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the
risk of electric shock.
3. Personal safety
a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired
or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position
before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or
plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool
on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result
in personal injury.
e. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use
of these devices can reduce dust-related hazards.
4. Power tool use and care
a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.
b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such
preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate
the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the
power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before
use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance
with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular
type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the
work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from
intended could result in a hazardous situation.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Warning: Before using your electric
Pendulum Jigsaw be sure to read the
instruction manual carefully.
1. Fitting the Saw Blade (See fig2)
Note: When changing blades, set pendulum
action switch to “0”.
The pendulum Jigsaw is equipped with a toolfree
blade holder which can only use with the bayonet
type blade (Fig2A). To open the blade holder,
rotate the ring anti-clockwise (jigsaw upside
down) and hold in position. Then fully insert the
blade into the blade holder slot with blade teeth
facing forward and release the ring, which will self
rotate and clamp over the top of the blade. Push
the blade into the blade holder again to ensure it
is locked in position. Ensure the edge of the blade
is located in the groove of the support roller. To
remove blade, hold the blade and rotate the ring
anti-clockwise then lift out the blade.
Warning:
- Blade teeth are very sharp.
- Blade self-eject out swiftly. Do not point at
people.
- Blade will be spring ejected so protect your
eyes.
- For best cutting result , ensure you use a blade
suited to the material and cut quality you need.
2. Assembly clear blade guard
Remove the clear blade guard by pinching
the clear blade guard slightly and then slide
downward, pull out the guard, fit the blade as
below instruction. (See fig3)
To replace the clear blade guard, pinch the clear
guard, press inwards from bottom of wireframe
safety guard, (See fig4). Slide upward until it
reach the top.

3. Using the parallel guide (See fig5)
The parallel guide allows you to make an accurate
parallel cuts using the metric scale. Release the
quick set mechanism on the parallel guide. Put
it into the required position and lock quick set
mechanism again. Slide the parallel guide in from
the appropriate side (left or right) accordingly.
Make sure that the guide surface of the parallel
guide points downwards.
4. Assemble Dust extraction adaptor
Note: only use the equipment with a compatible
vacuum chip extractor to attach, inset the extractor
into the back of the jigsaw, rotate the vacuum
hose on to the extraction nozzle and test whether
it is securely held in place. (See fig6)
5. Operating the trigger switch (See fig7)
To operate the Pendulum Jigsaw, depress the
trigger switch. If you wish to use the Pendulum
Jigsaw continuously, the trigger lock button can
be pushed in after the trigger switch has been
depressed. To release the lock button push in the
trigger switch again.
6. Pendulum action switch adjustment (See
fig8)
The adjustable 4-stage pendulum action makes
it possible to adjust the blade penetration on the
upward stroke for the various working materials.
Optimal cutting performance is thereby achieved.
The saw blade is lifted from the workpiece on the
downward stroke. This results in improved chip
ejection while substantially reducing frictional
heat and increasing the life expectancy of the saw
blade.
The pendulum action can be adjusted to one
of four stages with pendulum action knob. The
setting can be changed while the machine is
operating:
Stage 0: Pendulum action off
Stage 1: Low pendulum action
Stage 2: Moderate pendulum action
Stage 3: High pendulum action
7. The following rules should be observed
- The pendulum action should be off when
working with thin materials such as sheet metal.
- Shut off pendulum action when using rasps or
knifes.
Fig 7
Fig 8
Fig 5
Action
switch

SF800XPL SJ800XPL-M-060525.indd 11 2006-5-26 18:34:45

- If smoothly cut edges are desired in soft material,
select low stage or shut off pendulum action.
- Use low pendulum action when working with
hard materials such as steel.
- Use high pendulum action when working with
most soft materials such as wood and plastic.
The optimum setting can be determined in
practical trials on scrap material.
8. Stroke rate selection (See fig9)
With the thumbwheel, the required stroke rate
can be selected (also while running).
1-2 = Low stroke rate: for metals other than
almuinum
3-4 = Medium stroke rate: for aluminum and PVC
5-6 = High stroke rate: for wood
The stroke rate required depends upon the
material and the working conditions: fast enough
to make reasonable progress, but slow enough
to keep a clean cut and to avoid straining the
machine. Generally, finer saw blades use a higher
speed, coarser blades use a slower speed. After
working for longer periods at low stroke rate allow
the machine to cool by running it at maximum
stroke rate and no load for approx 3 minutes.
9. Using the pendulum jigsaw
Before using the saw and connecting the mains
cable make sure the trigger switch is in the off
position. Press the trigger switch and wait until
blade has reached maximum speed. Place the
front of the baseplate on the workpiece and line
up the cutting line with the line you wish to cut.
Push slowly forward. Keep the baseplate flat
against the workpiece.
10. Cutting metal
An appropriate cutting agent (such as light oil,
small amounts of soapy water, etc.) should
always be used. If there is no available liquid
cutting agent, grease can be applied to the back
surface of the material to be cut.
11. Cutting grooves/window holes (See
fig10)
For wood: Align the blade direction with the grain
of the wood. Then position the rounded part at
the front of the base plate on surface to be cut,
slowly lower the saw into material at chosen
point of entry. Lower the saw in a pivoting action

until blade has cut through to other side, do not
move saw along intended cut line until the blade
has cut through and base plate is laying flat on
material. For other materials: In materials other
than wood when cutting window holes, first use a
drill or similar tool to drill a hole from which initial
cutting will begin.
12. Angular cutting
To adjust the base plate bevel angle, loosen
the angle adjustment clamping mechanism by
turning the lever counter-clockwise (see fig11).
The base plate can now be rotated from 0º to 45º,
left or right. Bevel angles are stamped onto the
bracket on the underside of the base. Hold the
base plate at the desired angle and firmly tighten
the angle adjustment screw, by turning the lever
clockwise for operation. (See fig12)
Note: The base plate clamping lever is fitted with
an engagement/disengagement mechanism. To
disengage the lever, in order to reposition the
lever handle when the clamping mechanism
becomes too loose or too tight, simply pull the
lever backwards to disengage the mechanism.
The lever can now be rotated to the left or
right, in order to tighten or loosen the clamping
mechanism. (See fig13) If the angle adjustment
screw becomes too loose, it will rotate with the
lever. Use a screwdriver to prevent the angle
adjustment screw from rotating, pull the lever
backwards to disengage the mechanism, move
the lever to the right, re-engage the mechanism
and then turn the lever clockwise to tighten the
clamping mechanism while holding the screw
with the screwdriver. (See fig14)

13. Using the laser generator
1. The laser generator is for the purpose of
precision cutting. Make sure the batteries are
fitted in the laser generator before carrying out
precision cutting. To fit the batteries, remove the
battery storage cover as shown, insert the 2 x
1.5V battery (supplied), then replace cover. (See
fig15a and 15b)
Note: Ensure the correct battery polarity before
fitting the batteries.
2. To use the laser generator, simply press down
the on/off switch, (See fig16a), the laser generator
then projects a visible red line on the workpiece
surface, make your mitre cut along the red line.
(See fig16a and 16b)
Note:
- The saw dust may block the laser beam, clean
the laser generator periodically.
- Switch off the laser when you stop the machine.
The laser does not off automatically.
Caution
Switch off the laser when stop the machine, take
out batteries if you do not need to use the laser
for a long time.
Never stare directly into the laser beam and never
point the beam at anybody.
WORKING HINTS FOR YOUR
PRODUCT
1. Here is some advice on the pendulum action
control: the saw blade is only pressed against the
material on the return stroke/working stroke. It
is moved away from the material on the forward
stroke. The result is better removal of chips, less
friction and therefore a higher output.
2. To avoid the jigsaw springing up and down
when sawing sheets, support the sheet on
timbers. When sawing metal, apply a coolant oil
along the cutting line.
3. Adjust the speed and the pendulum action
settings to suit the material to be sawn. We always
recommend that you carry out a test cut first.
4. To use the jigsaw put the front end of the base
plate on the material and turn the machine on.
Press the machine from above on to the material
and guide the jigsaw along the cutting line.
5. Do not use too much pressure to achieve the

best progress when sawing, use light pressure on
the saw blade.
6. When sawing along a marked line use the
marking on the splitting guard as a guide.
7. For exact cutting, clamp a timber batten on to
the material as an aid or use the parallel guide.
8. For mitres/bevels, set the base plate in the
required position.
9. Set the base plate to its rearmost position for
cutting close to an edge.
MAINTENANCE
Warning: Ensure the jigsaw is
disconnected from the mains power
supply before attempting any maintenance.
1) Keep the jigsaw ventilation slots clean and free
from obstructions. If available, blow compressed
air into the vents to clear any internal dust (safety
goggles must be worn when undertaking this
process).
2) Keep the outer case of the jigsaw clean and
free from grease. Do not wash with water or use
solvents or abrasive. Use only mild soap and
damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid
get inside the tool. Never immerse any part of the
tool into a liquid.
3) Your jigsaw requires no additional lubrication.
There are no user serviceable parts in your power
tool.
4) Always store your power tool in a dry place.
5) If you see some sparks flashing in the ventilation
slots, this is normal and will not damage your
power tool.
6) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by a special cord or assembly available
from the manufacturer or its service agent.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1 If your jigsaw will not operate, check the fuse
and the power at the mains plug.
2 If the jigsaw is not cutting properly check the
blade and support roller, replace blade if worn.
Also check the cutting angle, the blade must be at
exactly 90° to the base plate for normal use.
3 There are no user serviceable parts in the jigsaw.
If a fault can not be found return the saw to an
authorised dealer for repair.
