Procedure
1.Removeanyattachmentfromtherearofthe
machine.
2.Lowerthetractionunitadapterandback
thetractionunitintopositioninfrontofthe
attachmentadapter.
Note:Makesurethelockingleverispivotedto
theleft(unlockedposition)asviewedfromthe
rearofthemachine.
3.Slidetheattachmentadapterontothetraction
adapter.
Important:Thelongarmoftheliftarm
assemblymustbeunderthetractionunit
rearframeassembly(Figure6).
CAUTION
Youcouldpinchyourngersbetweenthe
attachmentandtractionunitadapters.
Alwaysliftandmovetheattachment
usingthehandleonthebackofthe
attachmentadapter(Figure6).
4.Pivotthelockinglevertotherighttolockthe
adapterstogether.
5.Securethetoplinkofeachchaintotheoutside
oftheliftarm(Figure6)usingabolt(3/8x2-1/2
inches),2washers(3/8x7/8inch),aspacer,
andalocknut(3/8inch).

Operation
Readthissectiononrakingbeforerakingatrap.There
aremanyconditionsthatdeterminetheadjustments
tothetooth-rakeattachment.Thetextureanddepth
ofthesand,moisturecontent,weeds,andtheamount
ofcompactionallcanvaryfromcoursetocourse,or
evenfromtraptotrapatthesamecourse.Makethe
adjustmentsontherakeforoptimumresultsinyour
area.
TrainingPeriod
Practicerakinginalarge,leveltraponthecourse.
Practicestarting,stopping,turning,raising,and
loweringtherake;enteringandleavingthetrap;etc.
Practiceatamoderateenginespeedandaslow
groundspeed.Thistrainingperiodwillhelpyouto
gaincondenceoperatingthemachine.
Note:Donotbackupthetractionunitwiththe
attachmentlowered.Damagetotheattachmentwill
occur.
RakingTips
Ifthesandisdeepenough,youcanrakerightupto
theedgeofthetrapinlevelareas.
Ifthesandfeathersouttotheturf,stayfarenough
awayfromtheedgetoavoiddisturbingtheunderlying
soil.
Donotraketooclosetoashort,steepbank.The
sandwillmerelyowdownintothebottomofthetrap.
Sometouchupwithahandrakemaybenecessaryon
steepbanks,smallpockets,etc.
RakingPattern
Rakethetrapaccordingtothepatternshownin
Figure9.Thispatternavoidsunnecessaryoverlap,
holdscompactiontoaminimum,andleavesaneat,
attractivepatterntheinsand.
Enterthetrapstraightintothelongdimension,where
thebankistheleastsevere.Drivethroughthecenter

ofthetrapalmosttotheend,turntoeitherdirectionas
sharpasyoucan,andcomerightbacknexttotherst
pass.Spiraloutwardasshowninthedrawing,and
leavethetrapatarightangleinalevelarea.
Leavesteep,shortbanksandsmallpocketsfor

Whenenteringthetrap,donotlowertherakeuntilthe
rakeisoverthesand.Thisavoidscuttingtheturfor
dragginggrassclippingsorotherdebrisintothetrap.
Lowertherakewhilethemachineismoving.
Whenleavingthetrap,startraisingtherakewhenthe
frontwheelleavesthetrap.Asthemachinemoves
out,therakeliftsanddoesnotdragsandoutonto
thegrass.
Youwillsoongain,throughexperienceandpractice,
therequiredtimingforenteringandleavingthetrap
properly.

Youcanchangethepositionoftheraketoincrease
ordecreaseitsaggressivenessinthesand.Mount
thedrawbarandtherakeasshowninthefollowing
gurestoattainthedesiredaggressiveness.

SettingtheTransport
Position
Completethefollowingproceduretoincreasethe
heightoftherakewhentransporting:
1.Lowertherakeandliftassemblyaslowas
possible.
2.Disconnectthechainsfromtheliftarmsand
reconnectthemhigher.
Note:Toensureproperoperationofrake,returnthe
chainstotheoriginalslackpositionbeforeoperating
therake.
InspectingandCleaning
theRakeandTractionUnit
Afterraking,cleanthemachinethoroughly.Because
youusethismachineprimarilyinsandandsandis
extremelyabrasive,washoffthesandaftereachuse.
Ifyoucleanthemachinefrequently(beforethesand
hasachancetocake),cleanitwithastreamofwater
fromahosewiththenozzleremoved.Ahigh-pressure
streamcoulddrivethesandintowearareas,whereit
couldactasagrindingcompound.
Note:Iftheattachmentadapterstickstothetraction
unitadapter,insertaprybarorscrewdriverintothe
pryslottodisengagetheparts(Figure14).
