maintenance,andstorageofthemachine.Improper
useormaintenanceofthemachinecanresultininjury
ordeath.Toreducethepotentialforinjuryordeath,
complywiththefollowingsafetyinstructions.
•Read,understand,andfollowalltheinstructionsinthe
tractionunitanddethatchingunitoperator'smanuals
beforeoperatingthedethatchingunit.
•Neverallowchildrentooperatethetractionunitor
dethatchingunits.Donotallowadultstooperatetraction
unitordethatchingunitswithoutproperinstruction.
Onlytrainedoperatorswhohavereadthismanualshould
operatethetractionunitordethatchingunits.
•Neveroperatethedethatchingunitswhensick,tired,or
undertheinuenceofdrugsoralcohol.
•Keepallshieldsandsafetydevicesinplace.Ifashield,
safetydeviceordecalisillegibleordamaged,repairor
replaceitbeforeoperatingthemachine.Also,tighten
anyloosenuts,bolts,andscrewstoensurethatthe
dethatchingunitisinsafeoperatingcondition.
•Alwayswearsubstantial,slip-resistantshoes.Donot
operatethedethatchingunitswhilewearingsandals,
tennisshoes,sneakers,orshorts.Also,donotwear
loose-ttingclothingwhichcouldgetcaughtinmoving
parts.Alwayswearlongpantsandsubstantialshoes.
Wearingsafetyglasses,safetyshoes,andahelmetis
advisableandrequiredbysomelocalordinancesand
insuranceregulations.
•Removealldebrisorotherobjectsthatmaybepickedup
andthrownbythedethatchingunit.Keepallbystanders
awayfromtheworkingarea.
•Ifthedethatchingunitstrikesasolidobjectortheunit
vibratesabnormally,stopandshuttheengineoff.Check
thedethatchingunitfordamagedparts.Repairany
damagebeforestartingandoperatingthedethatching
unit.
•Lowerthedethatchingunitstotheground,andremove
thekeyfromtheignitionswitchwheneverthemachineis
leftunattended.
•Ensurethatthedethatchingunitsareinsafeoperating
conditionbykeepingnuts,bolts,andscrewstight.
•Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchtoprevent
someonefromaccidentallystartingtheenginewhen
servicing,adjusting,orstoringthemachine.
•Performonlythosemaintenanceinstructionsdescribedin
thismanual.Ifmajorrepairsareeverneededorassistance
isdesired,contactanAuthorizedToroDistributor.
•Toensureoptimumperformanceandsafety,always
purchasegenuineTororeplacementpartsandaccessories.
