Verifone MX800 Series Pinpad
Ethernet Installation
Note: no drivers are required for the installation via Ethernet.
Using an Ethernet cable (RJ45) through a router or switch this option requires the purchase of a Router or
switch and network cable.
Note:Before the pinpad can be used in CRE/RPE it may need to be upgraded to the latest firmware.
If your pinpad is connected via an Ethernet connection it will need to be sent to pcAmerica for the
upgrade, for more information please contact your pcAmerica sales representative at 1-800-722-6374.

When using the pinpad via serial the following will need to be done:

Connecting the Hardware
Before you begin, make sure your Verifone MX800 series
pinpad is plugged in and properly connected to your
router/switch via a network cable.
You can connect your Verifone MX800 series pinpad to your PC
through either a router or a switch via cat-5e cable (see image
below).
NOTE: WHILE THE DEVICE WILL PHYSCIALLY BE ABLE TO BE ACCESSED BY EVERY COMPUTER OVER THE
NETWORK WITH AN ETHERNET CONNECTION, THE PINPAD MAY ONLY BE INTERFACED WITH ONE COMPUTER AT
A TIME!

Checking the Correct IP Address Settings
1. Select Start.
2. Select Run and type in cmd. This will open the
command prompt.
3. At the command prompt type in: ipconfig /all then hit Enter.
4. This will display the IP address and other information that you will need to configure the pinpad (pictured
above).
5. We will need to copy the IP Address, the Subnet Mask, the Default Gateway, and the DNS Servers.

Entering the Configuration Menu
In order for the MX800 series via Ethernet to work correctly, the pinpad must be configured through
the configuration menu.
1. To check the correct configuration the device
must be displaying either screen pictured left,
where either the PCA CRE/RPE logos are rotating
or on the top of the screen it says FORMAGENT.

2. Using a narrow tool such as a paperclip press the
button in the hole to reset the device, it may take
a minute or so.
3. After some time with the device configuring you
should see a screen (pictured left) asking for a
password.
Default password: 166831
Note: If the above password does not work then you
can also try: 166832
4. This will display the System Mode, which is where
all the settings for the MX800 series pinpads are
checked and set.

Checking the Correct Interface Settings
1. At the System Mode screen select CONFIGURE.
2. The Configure (1) screen is where you will set how
the device integrates with the computer.
3. Select USB PORT.
4. Select Disabled.
5. Select the Left Arrow to go back to the
CONFIGURE (1) screen.

6. You will want make sure that the Ethernet
configuration is setup properly.
7. Select ETHERNET PORT (NETWORK PORT).
8. Check STATIC.
9. Select Address and using the keypad, enter an IP
Address similar to the one of the computer. For
example if the IP Address of the computer was
192.168.1.101 then we will enter an address of
192.168.1.102.
10. Select Mask and then enter the Subnet Mask.
11. Select Gateway and enter the Default Gateway.
12. Select DNS1 and DNS2 and enter both the DNS
Servers.
13. Select the Left Arrow to go back to the
CONFIGURE (1). Select the Left Arrow once again
to go back to the System Mode screen.

Restarting the Device
1. At the System Mode screen select FILE MANAGER.
If no changes have been made select RUN
APPLICATION, which will get you back to the
screen where the software can be started and
transactions can be made.
If changes have been made you can select
RESTART, which will restart the device and will
make it where the software can be started and
transactions can be made.

Configuration in CRE/RPE
1. Select the Options/Manager and enter your password (where applicable).
2. Select Setup and then Setup Screen and re-enter your password if necessary.
3. Select the Hardware tab and choose the correct pinpad that you are connecting for the PinPad Type
(e.g. VerifoneMX850).
4. Select Ethernet for the PinPad Connection.
5. Enter the PinPad IP Address (which you entered into the pinpad earlier).
6. Enter 9001 for the PinPad IP Port.
7. While at the setup screen select payment
processing and then other options in order to
do cash back on your terminal. Simply by
entering an amount for Max Debit Cashback.
8. Be sure to select Update to save your changes.

Other Required and Optional Pinpad Configuration
Before the pinpad can be used in CRE/RPE the firmware may need to be updated.
If your pinpad is connected via an Ethernet connection it will need to be sent to pcAmerica for the

The MX800 series pinpads have the ability to have custom images or logos uploaded to it.
If your pinpad is connected via an Ethernet connection it will need to be sent to pcAmerica to have
images uploaded to it, for more information please contact your pcAmerica sales representative at 1-
800-722-6374.

Using the MX800 Series Pinpads
The MX800 series can take a credit, debit or EBT card at any point past the login screen of CRE/RPE.
To verify that it is able to do so you can either look at the area where the card is swiped or at the screen:
On the screen you will see an image that says
Place Your Add Here and beneath it Please Slide
a Card.
On the terminal you will see arrows blinking in
sequence, showing that the device is ready to
take a card.
