WMS WebControl
Congratulations on choosing WMS WebControl®! You now have a device
at hand for operating WMS products on mobile devices. An app is availa-
ble for iOS devices (iPhone or iPad) and other smartphone operating sys-
tems (e.g. Android).
Other devices can operate the WMS products directly on the browser.

Operating instructions, manuals and software are protected by copyright.
Copying, duplication, translation or conversion into any electronic medium
or into a machine-readable format, as a whole or in part, without prior written
consent by WAREMA is not permitted. All further rights to the software are
specified in the supplied license agreement.
2 Safety instructions
We have developed and tested the WMS (= WAREMA Mobile System) prod-
ucts and this software in compliance with basic safety requirements.
Residual risks nevertheless remain!
 For this reason, please read this manual before commissioning and operat-
ing the controls.
 It is very important that you adhere to the safety instructions listed in this
section and the warning information contained in this manual. Failure to
do so will void any warranty claims against the manufacturer.
 Keep this manual for future use.
2.1 Meanings of symbols
and pictographs
The safety information contained in these instructions is marked with warning
symbols.
CAUTION
Reminder to be careful.
Failure to comply may result in property damage.
The i symbol designates important information and helpful tips.
 The square indicates an instruction or a prompt for action. Perform the de-
scribed step.
The triangle denotes an event or the result of a preceding action.

2.2 Intended use
WMS products make it possible to connect different devices like sun shading
products and lighting equipment as well as window drives and sensors.
CAUTION
The WMS WebControl is for indoor use only. It is not water-proof.
The operating range of radio remote controls is limited both by legal regula-
tions for radio systems and structural factors. Adequate radio reception must
be ensured when planning the project. This is especially the case where the
radio signal must pass through walls and ceilings. The control unit should
not be installed in the immediate vicinity of metal components (steel beams,
reinforced concrete, fire doors).
 Therefore, check that the unit is functioning properly before installing/setting
it up permanently. Both the WMS WebControl and the WMS components be-
ing controlled must have good radio reception.
2.3 Target group
These instructions are intended for persons who wish to operate their sun
shading products using an app or browser.

3 Introduction
3.1 Functions
Using WMS WebControl, you can comfortably operate WMS products on a
mobile device from your home using your own WLAN network.
Separate apps are available for iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad,
and for Android devices (smartphone, tablet).
Laptops can control WMS products via the browser.
You can create, change and delete rooms, channels and scenes, and assign
names for these.
The project data is stored directly on the device.
Up to 20 rooms can be created with up to 10 channels or scenes each. A
maximum of 32 scenes can be created.
An SD card slot enables you to create a backup copy of the project and up-
load a firmware update.

You require a configured router ➎.
One WMS WebControl ➊ can be connected per router.
To make the electrical connection, only use the supplied accessories to en-
sure that the system will operate properly.
"DHCP" must be enabled on the router in order for the IP address to be as-
signed automatically. If this is not possible, please read the information pro-
vided under "DHCP" (Chapter 9 on page 36).
Therefore, check that the unit is functioning properly before installing/setting
it up permanently. Both the WMS WebControl ➊ and the WMS components
➏ being controlled must have excellent radio reception.

3.4 Installation
The WMS WebControl is supplied with power via the included plug-in power
supply unit ➍.
 Connect the USB power supply unit ➍ to the WMS WebControl ➊ using the
included USB cable.
 Connect the WMS WebControl ➊ with the locally configured router ➎ via the
included LAN cable ➌.
 Plug the USB power supply unit of the WMS WebControl ➊ into the power
socket.

Status LED ➋ lights up red.
The WAREMA WMS WebControl tries to obtain an IP address from the DHCP
server in the router.
If the WAREMA WMS WebControl gets an IP address within one minute, the
status LED flashes green.
If an IP address is not assigned after 1min., the status LED flashes red. To
obtain an IP address after that, see Chapter9 on page 36.
If a project is already stored in the device, the status LED lights up green
permanently.

4 Commissioning
4.1 Commissioning via the
WMS studio software
A comfortable method of loading new projects to the WMS WebControl is
made available by the WMS studio software as of version 2.0.0 (see the
"WMS studio software" software manual, art. no. 890396). You will require an
SD card with the format FAT32.
4.2 Commissioning using
the browser
If you have an existing WMS network, commission the WMS WebControl by
following these 4 steps:
1.  Add the WMS WebControl to the WMS network. See Chapter
4.3
2.
 Start the WMS WebControl in your browser.
The WMS WebControl interface appears.
 Enter the password and set the time.
 In the "Configuration" menu item,
create rooms, followed by channels and scenes.

3.  Assign the WMS channels in the "Configura-
tion" menu item.

4.  Connect the WMS WebControl with the app. See Chapter

4.3 Adding the WMS
WebControl to the
WMS network
Before you can map the structure of your existing WMS network on the
WebControl, you need to add the WMS WebControl to your existing WMS
network.
The WMS WebControl is recognised by the WMS network as a new control
panel. For this reason, you require the operating and installation instructions
for your control panels to add it to the existing WMS network.
Example To add the WMS WebControl with the large WMS hand-held transmitter (in-
structions
art. no.: 890374, Chapter "Commissioning functions, learning in, scanning
table) to the WMS network, perform the initial steps as described in the hand-
held transmitter instructions.
The hand-held transmitter scans for receivers.
If they are found (in this case, the WMS WebControl), the display in the upper
LED row flashes red (new receiver).
 If multiple receivers are indicated by the LEDs, verify that it is the right receiv-
er, i.e. the WMS WebControl, press the Info button on the WMS Hand-held
transmitter.
 The WMS WebControl flashes in response, i.e. the WMS transmitter LED
flashes red.
 Now press the stop button on the WMS Hand-held transmitter to store.
The WMS WebControl is now integrated in the WMS network.

4.4 Access through a
browser
After you have connected the WMS WebControl, open your browser.
If you are using a PC, enter "http://webcontrol" in the address bar of the
browser.
If you are using a MAC, enter "webcontrol.local" into the address bar.
The screen interface jumps to the "Operation" menu item.
If this procedure is not successful on your Smartphone and/or PC, the web
address of the WMS WebControl was not recognised by your router. In this
case, open the client table of your router (use the router manual for this pur-
pose). It contains the associated IP address of the WMS WebControl (it will
look something like this:
IP 192.168.0.100). In addition, the IP address can be read out under "Sys-
tem" in the app.
Then enter the number in the address bar of your browser.

Another method of determining the IP address is to use other software pro-
grams, such as the free "FING" app. After you download this app, you can
use it to search your network for users.
WMS WebControl is listed under the name "Microchip Technology". This will
help you quickly find the required IP address.

4.4.1 Password use
Because a project does not yet exist when you access the system for the first
time, you will need to click on the "Configuration" menu.
You will then be prompted to enter a password. For initial access, please use
the following preset password:
Password "5858".
You can change the password at any time. To do so, click the "Change pass-
word" button in the "Configuration" menu. You can assign a browser pass-
word with up a maximum of 10 characters. Please remember the password
you have assigned.
ONLY use letters and numbers for your password; do NOT use special char-
acters.

If the system is not used for > 1 hour, the assigned password must be en-
tered again.
Assigning a password is not mandatory. If you do not wish to use a pass-
word, leave the password field blank and click the "Accept" button.

5.1 Setting the clock
The "Configuration" menu contains the "Set date/time" button. A settings win-
dow opens. Enter the correct date and time using the pull-down menus.
Only place a checkmark next to "Send system time" if you are using
time-controlled modes and no other system clocks are active in your WMS
network (for example, a WMS Central transmitter). Otherwise, two different
times could be sent that would be selected randomly by the system (see
also the explanations in Chapter 7.4.1.1 WMS studio Software Manual, art.
no. 890409).

5.2 Creating and editing
rooms
 Click on the "+" button to create rooms.
A window appears in which you can enter the name of the room (for exam-
ple, "Living room").
 Click "Create".
The room is then created and appears in the left column of the menu.

The "Living room" now appears in the left column.
When a room is selected by clicking, you can edit it using the icon. For
example, you can change the name.
The icon can be used to delete the room.
To create another room, click the next to the .
A new room is created.
The icon activates a mode in which the created rooms can be moved.
To rearrange the rooms, move the mouse onto the corresponding room in
the list view and press and hold the left mouse button to drag and drop the
room into the desired location.

 After making the settings, press the "Store" button.
Your settings are adopted.

In this way, you can create a total of 20 rooms of 10 channels or scenes
each. A maximum of 32 scenes can be created (with the numbers 0 to 31).
Follow the instructions step-by-step. Always create a room first so that you
can then (as described below) create the associated channels.
5.3 Adding channels to a
room and editing them
For the room that you created and selected in the overview, you can now
create different channels (for sun shading products such as roller shutters,
external venetian blinds, etc., but also for light).
To do so, click on the icon next to "Channel" in the right column of the
overview.
A window appears for entering the name of the channel.
To adopt the WMS channel in the channel you created, proceed as de-
scribed in Chapter 5.5.
The channel, in this case the roller shutter, is selected by clicking; it turns red
and the icons , and , which are already familiar to you from creating the
room and channel, appear.
The and icons are used in the same way as before (rename, delete).
The copy icon in the right column behind the channel has an expanded
function here:
It is not used to simply duplicate the existing channels:
When you click on the icon, a symbol appears next to the rooms in the left
column. This indicates the rooms that still have space for additional chan-
nels.
Now click on the + sign next to the desired room in the left column. For ex-
ample, click on next to "Kitchen". This duplicates the roller shutter channel
with its actuators in the kitchen.
If you have multiple channels of the same type in a single room, it is useful
to give them specific names (for example, roller shutter 1, roller shutter 2...).
This can also be accomplished later using the icon to rename the chan-
nels accordingly.
The icon activates a mode in which you can move channels that have
been created.
Select the room you would like to edit by clicking on it.
To move a channel, move the mouse onto the corresponding channel in
the list view and press and hold the left mouse button to drag and drop the
channel into the desired location.
The structure you create (kitchen, roller shutter...) appears in the same way
in the app on your mobile device (smartphone, etc.) and on the "operation"
page of your browser the next time you open it.

5.4 Creating scenes
The WMS WebControl enables you to comfortably store frequently occurring
room situations in "scenes".
 Open the "Configuration" menu and select the room (in this example, the
kitchen) for which you would like to store a scene.

 Click on to the right of "Channel".
You can select the "scene" in the pop-up window.
 Place checkmarks next to the channels that you would like to group in a
scene.
 Accept your selection with the "Create" button.
Never use the same scene number for different transmitters (e.g. WMS Hand-
held transmitter and WMS WebControl) in combination with the same plug
receivers (you would overwrite the first scene).
If you have already created scenes in another project, begin numbering the
scenes from the end, i.e. backwards from 31, to avoid overlaps.

5.5 Copying the structure
of the WMS network to
the WMSWebControl
The following section describes how to copy channels using the WMS Hand-
held transmitter as an example.
The
WMS Hand-held transmitter must be within radio range of the WMS WebCon-
trol.
 In the WMS WebControl, go to the "Configuration" menu and select the de-
sired channel (e.g. Roller shutter 1) in the corresponding room (e.g. Kitchen).
 Wake up your WMS Hand-held transmitter, for example, by pressing any
product button.
 Select the channel of the WMS Hand-held transmitter that you wish to copy
(in this example, press the "Roller shutter" product button).

your WMS Hand-held transmitter, art. no.890374.)
 Briefly press the learn button on the WMS Hand-held transmitter.
 Adopt the transferred channel in the browser using the "L adopt" button.
The L LED on the WMS Hand-held transmitter lights up green and thus con-
firms that the step was successful.
When the WMS Hand-held transmitter indicates that the transfer was suc-
cessful, the website of the WMS WebControl also indicates that the transfer
was successful with a message in the "Configuration" menu. After this, the
channel type icon is displayed in front of the sun shading product name.
 Repeat this step as often as necessary until all channels have been trans-
ferred to the WMS WebControl.
