General
Thank you for purchasing the Minitronic dialog!
The Minitronic dialog provides you with sun protection control de-
veloped especially for controlling awnings and external venetian
blinds. You can either operate your sun protection manually, or
leave the operation in fully automatic mode. The Minitronic dialog
shields your sun protection against damaging weather conditions
and offers a comprehensive range of comfort and safety func-
tions. The control can be operated remotely via up to four radio
remote controls (optional).
If the required sensors are connected, the Minitronic dialog evalu-
ates the data from
Wind
Precipitation
Brightness
and controls the connected sun protection accordingly.

Safety information
We have developed and tested the Minitronic following the funda-
mental safety requirements.
Nonetheless, some risks remain!
For this reason, please read these instructions before setting up
and operating the control!
Keep these instructions for future use!
The safety information in these instructions are marked with warn-
ing symbols. Depending on the respective danger potential, they
have the following hierarchic structure:
DANGER
warns of an immediately threatening dangerous situ-
ation. Possible consequences may include serious
injuries and even death (personal injury), property or
environmental damage.
WARNING
warns of a possibly dangerous situation. Possible
consequences may include light or serious injuries
and even death (personal injury), property or envi-
ronmental damage.
CAUTION
Reminder to be careful.
Possible consequences of negligence may include
property damages.

Intended use
Warning
It is important to comply with these instructions in the
interest of personal safety. Incorrect installation may
lead to serious injury!
The device has been developed to control sun protection devices
and is intended for interior installation.
The approval of the manufacturer must be obtained
for uses outside of the purposes listed here! The con-
sequences of unintended use may include personal
injuries of the user or of third parties as well as prop-
erty damages to the control itself, to connected devic-
es or moveable mechanical parts of the entire system.
Therefore use our product only as intended!

tronic dialog including all necessary components and for persons
operating, programming or setting up the control.

Safety information
WARNING
The electrical installation (assembly)/dismantling
must be performed by a certified electrician in accord-
ance with the electrical installation regulations pub-
lished by the Association of German Electrical Engi-
neers (VDE 0100) or the standards and regulations of
the country in which the device is being installed. The
electrician must observe the installation instructions
included with the supplied electrical devices.
Retrofitting and modifications
We have designed and built the Minitronic dialog with reliability
and safety in mind. All required settings are made at initial com-
missioning. Modification of the unit parameters is only required if
the characteristics of the control unit need to be adjusted, some-
thing is changed in the sensor equipment, or the control unit itself
is replaced.
WARNING
Retrofitting and modifications may impact the safety
of the system or reduce its effectiveness! Possible
consequences may include death, serious or light in-
juries, property or environmental damages.
Contact us or your specialist dealer therefore before retrofitting or
changing the system or the unit parameters if you cannot find any
information on the corresponding topic in the control unit docu-
mentation. This is the only way to ensure trouble-free retrofitting/
modification.

Safety information
Safe working
Whenever you intend to carry out work on motor-operated win-
dows or building facades on which motor-operated sun protection
products are installed, carry out the following steps first:
Switch the system to a de-energized state first of all!
Make sure that the system has been sufficiently secured against
unauthorized or unintentional reactivation!
In any case, use suitable safety devices for personal protection!
Never place or store any items in the motion area of automatically
operated mechanisms (e.g. ladder to the house wall with articu-
lated arm awning)!
WARNING
Danger conditions, malfunctions and property dam-
age to the system are possible due to improperly
executed mounting, connection, repair or mainte-
nance work!
Such work may only be carried out by the service de-
partment or by authorized qualified personnel!
Only use such spare/replacement parts for maintenance
or repair work that have been approved by the manufac-
turer of the system.
WARNING
Dangerous situations, malfunctions and property
damages to the unit are possible by cutting connec-
tions during operation! All connection are required
for proper operation of the control unit.

or detaching connecting lines!

Commissioning
Caution
The necessary sensors must be connected before
commissioning the sun protection control system.

Installation
Follow the points below in the order given:
nFirst determine where the individual components are to be
mounted. Use the instructions given in this chapter to do this.
nThen determine which cables are required to connect the
components with one another. To do this, please refer to the
"Wiring diagrams" chapter. Lay the relevant lines. Do not use
lines of a larger size than specified. It is advisable to use con-
duits when laying the motor line.
nMount and wire the individual components.
nCheck the wiring before switching on the power supply to the
control.
nThen commission the unit. The control will now be ready to
use. The steps required for commissioning are explained in
detail in the Commissioning chapter.
nCheck the correct running direction of the sun protection by
pressing the "Up" and "Down" buttons on the control.
nThen adjust the functioning of the system to the ambient con-
ditions and special requirements.
Caution
Electrical equipment must be mounted to ensure ease
of access (VDE 0100)!

Installation
For flush mounting, the Minitronic dialog requires roughly the
same area as a wall-mounted switch and a deep flush-fitted wall
box. The dimensions can be found in figure 4. The control may
only be fitted in interior areas, in dry and easily accessible loca-
tions. Choose a mounting position so that...
nThe Minitronic dialog can be operated ergonomically at all
times
nThere are no strong heat sources (e.g. radiators, chimney
walls) in the vicinity.
nAvoid any position where direct sunlight will shine onto the
device as this can affect the legibility of the display.
nWork through the points given below in the order given, not-
ing the following diagrams:
Handling the spring terminals:

After removing the insulation on the wires, these are pressed into
the terminal (1), until the insulation on the wires enters the termi-
nal and the line is securely held in the terminal (2). To disconnect
the line, the relevant unlock button needs to be pressed in using
a screwdriver as far as it will go, and the line then removed from
the terminal (3).

nBefore mounting, the transport protection (cardboard between
the control panel and the power unit) must be removed!
Do not fit the control panel onto the power unit in an unas-
sembled state!
nConnect the lines in accordance with the wiring diagram
(connecting the spring terminals, see fig.1). Fitted on the out-
side using casing screws or screws and anchors.

nUse appropriate anchors and screws for mounting.
nThe screw heads must be screwed in flush to the mounting
plate otherwise the control panel will not fit correctly.
nIf preferred, the device can also be screwed onto the flush-
fitted wall box.

nFor disassembly, grip the Minitronic dialog at points 1 and 2.
nThen remove the device from the wall holder in direction 3.

Operation
Manual operation
The sun protection can be moved up and down using the and
buttons. The sun protection can be stopped using the but-
ton or by triggering motion in the opposite direction. If a safety
function (wind alarm, precipitation) is active, manual operation is
blocked. Operation with a radio transmitter (accessory) is identi-
cal to operation on the device itself.
Sun control
The sun control provides you the option to control your sun pro-
tection according to brightness. When the sky is cloudy, for exam-
ple, the awning remains down, whereas when the sun is shining
it is extended out automatically. The automated systems also de-
tects when dusk is approaching and moves the awning back up.
Sun control ON/OFF
Use the button to switch the sun control on. Tap this button
until the symbol for the sun control is shown on the display.
To switch off, proceed in the same way until the display is turned
off.
Precipitation monitoring
When the "precipitation" sensor (optional) is connected, the "pre-
cipitation monitoring" safety function will be available for you to
use. This means that the Minitronic dialog can react when rain,
hail or snow falls and retract the sun protection. The precipita-
tion monitoring function remains active until the sensor no longer
registers any precipitation. The sun protection can then be moved
back out again. In this case, any sun control functions activated
will also automatically trigger this motion. Response sensitivity
and off delay are set on the sensor. To do this, read the operating
instructions for the sensor.

Operation
Precipitation monitoring ON/OFF
Use the button to switch on. Tap this button until the symbol for
the precipitation monitoring is shown on the display. Follow the
same process to switch off.
Wind monitoring
Wind monitoring allows you to retract your sun protection auto-
matically when the set wind limit value is exceeded.
No functions should be activated if the relevant sensors
are not connected.
Sun control
The sun control is a comfort function of the Minitronic. The Wind/
Photo (180°) sensor can be used to record the brightness. If the
"Photo" measurement value exceeds the set brightness limit value
for at least five minutes, a move command is triggered and your
sun protection is extended. If the "Photo" measurement value is
less than 60% of the limit value set for at least 10 minutes, your
sun protection will be moved back in.

The thick black curve represents the brightness curve, and the
top horizontal line is the "lower" value you have set (extend sun
protection). The lower horizontal line is automatically 60% of the
limit value set. The vertical, broken lines indicate the on and off
delay times.
Function of the sun control: The outdoor brightness increases
until point 1 of the curve is reached; the "lower" limit value is
reached here. The "lower" delay starts to run, which means that
your sun protection is not extended at this point. At point 2 of
the curve, the limit value for extension is undershot again before
the "lower" delay time has elapsed. The sun protection remains
retracted. The brightness level increases later on and at point 3 is
still lower than the "lower" limit value. The "lower" delay starts to
run again, which means that your sun protection is not extended
at this point. At point 4 the "lower" delay time has expired, how-
ever, and the limit value is still exceeded - and the sun protection
is extended, at the same time the symbol starts to flash on
the display, indicating that the sun control function has been trig-
gered. A cloud then moves in front of the sun, and it gradually
becomes darker; the "raise" limit value is not reached at point 5.
Nothing happens because the "raise" delay is started first - the
sun protection is not therefore retracted.

Operation
At point 6, the "raise" delay has finally expired and the "raise"
limit value has not yet been reached, and the sun protection is
now retracted, and at the same time the symbol flashes on the
display. This indicates at the sun control has triggered the move
command.
The delay times are therefore a simple way to control the sun pro-
tection. They are used to "dampen" the response behaviour of the
control. This means that the sun protection is moved immediately
when the brightness level changes.
The delay times are permanently set and cannot be
changed. When a high brightness value is set, the sun
protection only moves with strong sunlight; if you set
a low value, the sun protection will move even in weak
sunlight.
Wind monitoring
Strong wind can cause considerable damage to the sun protec-
tion. This is why the Minitronic dialog includes a permanent wind
monitoring function which protects your sun protection against
storm damage when a "wind" sensor is connected. In the event of
a wind alarm, the sun protection is automatically raised and can-
not be operated either by hand or via the sun control. The limit
value for a wind alarm cannot be changed.
Attention
Changing individual settings may impair the safety
of the system or reduce its effectiveness! Better con-
sult an expert if you are not sure about the effect of a
change.

The thick black curve represents the course of the wind speed,
the horizontal line represents the limit value set to retract the sun
protection. The vertical, broken lines mark permanently set on
and off delays. This produces the following responses in the sun
protection:
The wind speed increases until point 1 of the curve is reached;
the limit value for retracting the sun protection is reached here.
The "raise" delay starts to run, which means that your sun protec-
tion is not raised at this point. At point 2 of the curve, the limit
value for retraction is still not reached, the delay time is cancelled
before expiry and the sun protection remains extended.
The wind speed increases later on and at point 3 is still lower
than the limit value. The "raise" delay starts to run again, which
means that your sun protection is still not retracted at this point.
At point 4, the delay time has expired, however, and the limit
value is still exceeded - the sun protection is then retracted. The
symbol flashes on the display and indicates that the wind
monitoring function has been triggered.

Operation
The wind drops again, and the "raise" limit value is not reached
at point 5. Nothing happens because the off delay is started
first - the sun protection cannot therefore be extended. At point 6,
the off delay has elapsed and the limit value is not yet reached.
The wind monitoring function now enables the operation of the
sun protection. The sun protection can now be extended manu-
ally, or, if the sun control is switched on, extended via the sun
control.
The approximate wind speed can be calculated using the table
