Dear customer,
You've just become the owner of a KONTIKI™ 2, the new
generation automatic cleaner for 10 to 50 ma above-ground
pools (if they include a self-priming filtration unit whose
total system flow rate is 5 to 7 m3/h).
Before using the appliance read this manual carefully. It
contains all the information needed in order to get the
most from your pool cleaner in complete safety.
For any further information your retailer, a pool professional,
will be able to advise you on how to use and maintain
your pool cleaner.
They will be able to supply spare parts and will provide
qualified After Sales service.

2/Assembly
KONTIKI™ 2 COMES PARTLY ASSEMBLED.
YOU ONLY HAVE TO FIT
• THE DISC,
• THE DEFLECTOR WHEEL
AND ASSEMBLE THE HOSES :

THE DISC
Fix the disc on to the body of the KONTIKI™ 2; position it in the
groove provided.
The KONTIKI™ 2 disc has been specially designed to ensure
the complete cleaning of round or oval above-ground pools thanks
to very low peripheral adhesion.

THE DEFLECTOR WHEEL
Fix the deflector wheel to one of the two adapters
and then fit the female end of the adapter to
the inner pipe of the KONTIKI™ 2.
The deflector wheel facilitates movement of the
KONTIKI™ 2 around the pool and prevents it from
getting stuck in the steps.

THE HOSES
The hoses on your KONTIKI™ 2 consist of several 1-metre sections.
The ideal length of hose for your pool is equal to the greatest
distance that your KONTIKI™ 2 will be able to travel from where it
is plugged in (i.e. the skimmer) up to the furthest corner of the pool,
plus a 1-metre section.
Do not use a greater hose length than you need to.
When you've worked out the total length
required, fit the hose
sections into one another.
Place one hose deflector 2 metres from the
cleaner and the other hose deflector 2 metres
from the skimmer; this will ensure the cleaner
moves around as it should.
To connect the hose to the KONTIKI™ 2, fit
the male end of the hose to the male end
of the adapter, which has already been fixed
to the cleaner.
NOTA : KONTIKI™ 2 moves randomly, i.e. following the twists
and turns of the hoses. Make sure you position the hose deflectors
in the right place because that affects the hoses and facilitates
the movement of the KONTIKI™ 2. (Don't hesitate to change the initial
setting by moving the hose deflectors nearer
to or further way from the cleaner).
In fact, more effective cleaning can be
achieved when KONTIKI™ 2 travels slowly.
Conversely, cleaning performance will be
impaired If it travels too fast.

THE KONTIKI™ 2 HAS BEEN SPECIFICALLY
DESIGNED FOR 10 TO 50 m3ABOVE-GROUND
POOLS, PROVIDED THEY INCLUDE A
SELF-PRIMING FILTRATION UNIT WITH A
TOTAL SYSTEM FLOW RATE OF 5 TO 7 m3/h.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PUMP, OTHERWISE THE PERFORMANCE
OF YOUR KONTIKI™ 2 WILL BE LESS EFFECTIVE.

Check that your filtration unit is in good working order and that
the skimmer, the filter and the prefilter in the pump are clean.

Stop filtration.

Place the skimmer flap inside the pool.
Remove the skimmer cover and basket.

Fix the male end of the second adapter to bottom of the skimmer.

Fill the hose with water to get rid of the air in it; this will prevent
any unpriming of the pump.

Fit the female end of the hose to the female end of the adapter;
do this as quickly as possible to avoid emptying the hose.
The end of the hose should always be in the water.

Refit the skimmer cover if possible.

Restart the filtration system of your pool.

During the season you can leave the cleaner in the water (careful :
never leave the hose in the sun; leave it either in the water or in a
shady area).
KONTIKI™ 2 works at its best at a water temperature of around 20°.
Below 20°, the performance of the KONTIKI™ 2 may be less effective.
Don't wait for your pool to get very dirty and full of algae before using
your KONTIKI™ 2 : your filtration system can get clogged very quickly.
Don't allow large pieces of debris to remain at the bottom of your
pool; they can clog the cleaner's suction valve.
Make sure there no obstacles likely to obstruct the cleaner.
4/Recommendations
The KONTIKI™ 2 requires very little maintenance :
•After use, check the suction valve for clogging.
•Also make sure the hoses are not blocked.
IMPORTANT : During the season we recommend that you
leave your KONTIKI™ 2 in the pool. If you wish to take it out of
the water before using the pool, remove the hose but
do not coil it up.
Never expose the hose to direct sunlight.
5/Maintenance, storage
Wash the cleaner and the hoses in clean water.
Leave them to dry and store them in a dry frost-free area.

THE KONTIKI™ 2 ISN'T WORKING :
•The KONTIKI™ 2 is designed specifically for 10 to 50 m3 above-
ground pools equipped with a self-priming filtration system ensuring
a total system flow rate of 5 to 7 m3/h.
Check to make sure you're using the right pump; if you're not,
your KONTIKI™ 2 won't work and if your pump is too powerful,
the suction valve in the cleaner is liable to get damaged and
immobilise the cleaner.
•Check the suction valve in your KONTIKI™ 2 for damage. Damage
can occur in two cases :
- Either your pump is too powerful (over 0.5 hp (or 375 watts)
with a flow rate above 7 m3/h), in which case the KONTIKI™ 2
is not suitable for your pool. We would recommend in its place
the MALIBLUE 2 by Aquasphère.
- Or the suction valve has been damaged by a piece of debris or has
become worn through intensive use of the cleaner, in which case
the valve should be replaced.
Undo the inner pipe ring to disconnect the outer pipe and the
motor housing from the body of the KONTIKI™ 2 unscrew
the outer pipe . Push on the transparent inner pipe to reveal
the suction valve . Remove the damaged suction valve together
with its retaining ring .
To fit the new suction valve , follow the above steps in reverse
order : fit the retaining ring to the new suction valve and
the valve to the transparent inner pipe . Pull on the
transparent inner pipe to replace the suction valve in its housing
and retighten the outer pipe . Replace the assembly in the body
of the KONTIKI™ 2 and retighten the ring on the outer pipe
by forcing it to the stop until it is fully locked in place.
•Make sure the suction valve in your KONTIKI™ 2 is not clogged by
debris.
Disconnect the outer pipe and the motor housing from the
body of the KONTIKI™ 2 by unscrewing the outer pipe ring.
Unscrew the outer pipe and push on the inner pipe to reveal
the suction valve . Remove any debris that has collected in the
valve or in the inner pipe . Refit the inner pipe in place
and retighten the outer pipe .
•Make sure the filtration system is working and that the valve is in
the filtration position.
•Make sure the prefilter basket and the filter are clean.
•Check for impurities in the pump turbine.
•Make sure the suction hose is properly connected.
•Make sure suction is not impeded by any debris.

THE KONTIKI™ 2 DOES NOT CLEAN EVERY AREA IN YOUR POOL :
•For optimum cleaning, filtration start-up time can be reduced.
For example, 6 hours' filtration (3 x 2 hours) will give better pool
coverage than a single 6-hour filtering operation, so it is advisable
to stop filtration every 2 hours (for just 2 or 3 minutes) to enable
your KONTIKI™ 2 to take a new random direction.
•Is the length of your hose right for the size of your pool ?
If necessary, add or remove a section (or more).
•Have you directed the outlet nozzles downwards to prevent the
water expelled from impeding the movement of the KONTIKI™ 2.
•Is the hose in perfect condition? (see “Storage advice”).
•Make sure the first hose deflector is correctly positioned 2 metres
from the cleaner and place the second hose deflector 3 to 4 metres
from the skimmer, instead of the initial 2 metres.
THE KONTIKI™ 2 REMAINS STUCK ON THE STEPS :
•Is the deflector wheel properly in place ?
•if it is, but the KONTIKI™ 2 remains stuck, remove the steps when
cleaning the pool.
THE KONTIKI™ 2 IS MOVING VERY SLOWLY AND THERE ARE AIR
BUBBLES AT THE OUTLET :
•Make sure the system is fully sealed between the cleaner and
the hose, between all the hose sections, between the hose and
the adapter, between the adapter and the skimmer and between
the skimmer and the filter.

KONTIKI™ 2 comes with a two-year guarantee for parts and labour
against manufacturing defects and faulty materials with effect from
the date of purchase.
Any other forms of claim invoking the guarantee are excluded
unless otherwise specified by the relevant legal provisions.
Only Zodiac European Pools specialists are authorised to determine
whether a product may be deemed to be defective.
Any claim must be accompanied by documentary proof clearly
indicating the date of purchase of the product concerned.
Both the product and the accompanying document must be returned
to us by the shop from which the product was bought.
