Cleaning 3M™ Versaflo™ Powered Air Systems
▪General advice
▪Follow the hygiene practices established by your employer for
the specific contaminants to which you have been exposed
▪Do not use detergent that contain lanolin or other oils
▪Do not use sterilisation processes e.g. ethylene oxide,
radiation and steam sterilsation
▪Always check the product in accordance with inspection
procedure detailed in the relevant user instruction.
▪If you discover any signs of damage, discard and replace the
product

Cleaning S-Series Headtops
▪Designed to be disposable (entire product or hood)
▪Wipe outer surface with clean cloth/sponge dampened with warm
water/liquid household soap
▪Do not soak headtop
▪Plastic parts can be submerged (remove sweat pad first)
▪Sweat pad can be hand washed or laundered
▪Optional –wipe outer surface with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Do not soak headtop
▪Plastic parts can be submerged
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Hang hood by loop or lay flat and air dry
▪Ensure product is dry prior to use/storage

•Do not wipe with wipe faceshield with strong solvents (MEK,
acetone, toluene)
•Do not wash in a washing machine or respirator washer.

Cleaning M-Series Headtops
▪Headtop shells, visors, visor frames and other plastic parts
▪Wipe with clean cloth/sponge dampened with warm water/liquid
household soap (can be submerged)
▪Optional - wipe outer surface with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Do not wipe with wipe faceshield with strong solvents (MEK,
acetone, toluene)
▪Air dry
▪Ensure product is dry prior to use/storage

▪Forehead sweat pad - can be hand washed or laundered
▪Faceseals (with exception of M-937) can be wiped with clean
cloth/sponge dampened with warm water/liquid household soap. Do
not soak.
▪Optional –wipe outer surface with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪High durability outer shroud –can be laundered or wiped.
▪Optional –wipe outer surface with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Flame retardant outer shroud –can be laundered or wiped.
▪Do not use chlorine bleach
▪Keep separate from other materials that may contaminate with flammable fibres.

▪Inner collar –can be laundered. Do not use chlorine
bleach or fabric conditioner.
▪Do not clean the following:
▪Flame retardant headcover
▪Head, neck and shoulder cover

▪Remove filters and dispose. Do not attempt to clean filters.
▪Remove battery pack and wipe with clean cloth/sponge
dampened with warm water/liquid household soap (Do not
submerge)
▪Optional -wipe with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Wipe turbo unit and belt with clean cloth/sponge dampened with
warm water/liquid household soap (Do not submerge turbo)
▪Cleaning solution must not enter the turbo unit
▪Optional -wipe with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Ensure product is dry prior to use/storage

Cleaning TR-300 Powered Air Turbo
▪Remove filters and dispose.
▪Note: Remove with turbo pointed down. Loose material
will fall down away from turbo
▪Do not attempt to clean filters.
▪Remove battery pack and wipe with clean cloth/sponge
dampened with warm water/liquid household soap
▪Do not submerge
▪Carefully clean around pins (do not bend/break). Ensure
pins are dry before re-use
▪Optional -wipe with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household soap

▪Wipe turbo unit and belt with clean cloth/sponge dampened
with warm water/liquid household soap (Do not submerge
turbo)
▪Cleaning solution must not enter the turbo unit
▪Optional -wipe with hospital detergent/disinfectant
▪Repeat wipe down with warm water/liquid household
soap
▪Ensure product is dry prior to use/storage
