Spare screws are included with each part. Occasionally, you may be instructed to keep spare or
unused screws for a later stage. Keep these spares in a safe place and label them correctly.
Please make sure you don’t mix up the screws. They look quite similar, but the threads do vary slightly.
Using the wrong screws may damage the parts.
When securing parts together using multiple screws, fit each screw loosely to ensure all the parts are
correctly aligned before gently tightening them firmly, but not overtight, in the order in which you
placed them.
The screwdriver can be magnetized by stroking it with a magnet (fridge magnet, etc.) enabling it to
hold the screws and make assembly easier.
If a screw is tight going into a metal part, do not force it as you may shear the head off. Remove it and
put a tiny smear of Vaseline, soap or light oil on the thread. That will lubricate it and make it easier to
drive home.
During the course of this build, you will receive many pieces that you will assemble immediately –
following the instructions in the corresponding stage – and other pieces that you should store safely
to one side, for use in future assembly stages.
Left and Right! When building your Porsche 917KH, the left or right hand side refers to each side as
you are sitting in the car.

WARNING: Some parts are assembled using magnets. These magnets can cause serious injury if they
are swallowed. Keep away from children. If you suspect a magnet has been swallowed, seek medical
help straight away.

Before installing the
dashboard (63A) onto the
dashboard frame (27A), route
the four cables (blue, green,
white and red-white) between
the tubular frame (31A) and
the wiring board (31C) as
indicated by the red arrow.
Position the dashboard onto
the frame as shown.
Connect the cables (34D, blue)
(34E, green), (35H, white),
and (35I, red-white) from the
dashboard to the four cables of
the corresponding colour from
the circuit board (32D). The
yellow cable is not connected
for the moment.

Temporarily remove the fire
extinguisher pull (28E) from
the dashboard frame (27E)
and set it aside safely.
Carefully turn the assembly
over and locate the two
screw holes just ahead of the
seats. Use two MP screws
(supplied with Stage 64) to fix
the dashboard (63A) to the
dashboard frame (27A) at
these points.
Next to the front left wheel,
drive an MP screw (supplied
with Stage 64) through the
indicated hole to secure the
dashboard (63A).
You’ll need to use the long
thin screwdriver between the
‘V’ of the frame (highlighted
in orange) to reach the holes.
Pass the screwdriver through
the area highlighted orange
to access the hole.

Replace the fire extinguisher
pull (28E) in the dashboard
frame (27A).
Next to the front right wheel,
drive an MP screw (supplied
with Stage 64) through the
hole in the same manner.
Pass the screwdriver through
the area highlighted orange
to access the hole.
Disconnect the right and left
headlight LED cables (35F).
Store them away safely for now.

Align the front floor panel (65A) with the underside of the chassis (25A) as shown and position it
in place. Secure it using four PM screws.
The dashboard and front floor panel have been mounted onto the chassis.

CONNECTING THE RADIATOR

Fit the radiator front panel
(66B) into the radiator (66A)
and secure in place using two
MP screws. Press the right and
left radiator sides (66C and
66E) onto the shaped pins of
the radiator as shown.
Push each of the ends of
a metal hose (66F) into a
connector (66G), then fit
a coupling (66D) into the
connectors in the orientation
shown. Repeat this process to
make a second metal hose.
Note that the left radiator
side (66C) has two holes in
one edge (orange arrows).
