Tools: Philips Screwdriver, Hammer
Skill Set: Good manual dexterity
Estimated Time: 9 min. per chair
Steps: 1. Base –2 min.
Turn the chair upside down and start hitting the bottom of the cylinder with a
hammer or a mallet while pulling the base upwards.
2. Cylinder –1 min.
Hold the cylinder and pull it upwards while hitting the surrounding area of the
mechanism near where the cylinder is attached with a hammer or a mallet to loosen
the cylinder.
3. Upper Back –2 min.
Pry upper back cushion form plastic shell with screwdriver & use Philips screwdriver
to remove (8) screws holding the upper shell to the arm
4. Lower Back –2 min.
Pry lower back cushion from plastic shell with screwdriver & use Philips screwdriver
to remove (3) screws holding arm to lower shell
5. Arms –1 min.
Turn chair over & use Philips screwdriver to remove (6) screws three form each side
6. Mechanism –1 min.
Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the four (4) screws off the mechanism to
separate the mechanism from the seat.
Optional: The cylinder can be left attached on the mechanism if both cylinder and mechanism
are for disposal.
The casters may further be removed from the base and the steel pins pulled off from
each caster for recycling.
