Voordat je op pad gaat, adviseren we je om deze Quick Start Guide door te nemen. Dan kun je daarna
onbezorgd gaan fietsen.
Deze Quick Start Guide geeft meer informatie over het gebruik van je Babboe bakfiets. Daarnaast geven
we je advies en tips over het fietsen op je Babboe bakfiets en uitleg over de garantie en het onderhoud.

GEBRUIKSTIPS
Fietsen op een bakfiets
Fietsen op een bakfiets is anders dan fietsen op een gewone fiets. Probeer daarom altijd eerst de bakfiets
even uit in een rustige omgeving zonder kinderen of lading in de bak en (indien aanwezig) met de elektrische
ondersteuning in de laagste stand. Zo raak je vertrouwd met het sturen en het remmen.
Bij een driewielbakfiets is de stuurbeweging anders dan bij een gewone fiets. Het stuur is aan de bak
gefixeerd en in feite stuur je met de bak van links naar rechts en andersom. Blijf altijd rechtop zitten, ook
bij het maken van bochten. Bij zeer scherpe bochten kun je je hand aan de buitenkant los laten zodat je niet
overdreven mee hangt. Houd deze hand wel in de buurt van de remmen, zodat je kunt remmen indien nodig.
Fietsen op een tweewielbakfiets lijkt op gewoon fietsen. De stuurbeweging is vrijwel hetzelfde, alleen je
voorwiel beweegt zich verder voor je uit dan bij een normale fiets. Kijk bij het fietsen voor je uit en niet naar
het voorwiel en probeer meteen vaart te maken. Ook de bochten gaan makkelijker met snelheid.
Fietsen op een Babboe Flow-E is een unieke fietservaring. Het heeft de stabiliteit van een driewielbakfiets
maar de stuurbeweging van een tweewielbakfiets. Hierdoor voelt het aan als een normale fiets.
De standaard gebruiken
Ga aan de linkerkant van je bakfiets staan naast het zadel. Zet je linkervoet op het bovenste uitstekende
gedeelte van de standaard, plaats beide pootjes van de standaard op de grond en trek de bakfiets met
twee handen aan het stuur naar je toe. De bakfiets staat nu stevig op de standaard. Om de bakfiets van de
standaard af te halen houd je met één hand het stuur vast en met de andere hand het zadel, duw dan je de
bakfiets naar voren, zodat de standaard omhoog klapt.
Parkeerrem
Op alle driewielbakfietsen zit een parkeerrem in de linker remhendel. De parkeerrem verschilt per
driewielbakfiets. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld een knop zijn of een palletje dat je verschuift. De werking is bij alle
driewielbakfietsen hetzelfde. Knijp de remhendel goed in en zet de parkeerrem erop.
Stuur verstellen
Je kunt de hoogte en de hoek van het stuur verstellen. Draai hiervoor de stuurpen aan de onder- en voorkant
los voor de hoek of aan de bovenkant los voor de hoogte. Het streepje op de stuurpen geeft de maximale
toegestane hoogte van het stuur aan. Zorg dat je de stuurpen niet te ver uittrekt. Draai dan de stuurpen
weer vast.
LET OP
Zorg bij een tweewielbakfiets dat het stuur goed recht staat wanneer je de stuurpen weer vast draait.

Zadel verstellen
Afhankelijk van je bakfiets model heeft kun je het zadel verstellen met de quick reslease zadelpenklem of
met een inbusbout. Bij de quick release trek de hendel naar buiten en draai de stelschroef een kwartslag
met de klok mee. Zet het zadel op heuphoogte en vergrendel daarna de quick release door de hendel zo ver
mogelijk tegen het framedeel aan te drukken. Bij de inbusbout draai je de bout los en zet je het zadel op
heuphoogte. Draai de bout daarna weer handvast.
Versnelling
Je Babboe(-E) bakfiets heeft 7 versnellingen. Tijdens het fietsen kun je opschakelen in de versnellingen van
1 tot en met 7 door middel van de ‘shifter’ (rechts op het stuur). De Babboe Mountain modellen hebben een
traploze versnelling. Met de draaigreep kun je opschakelen van een lage trapfrequentie voor vlak terrein naar
een hoge trapfrequentie voor stijgend terrein.
LET OP
Zorg altijd dat je in de eerste of tweede versnelling wegrijdt. Trap daarnaast nooit achteruit, hierdoor kan
de ketting eraf lopen en de bakfiets schade oplopen.
• Bij een Babboe non-elektrische bakfiets houd je je voeten stil en trap je niet verder als je wilt schakelen.
• Bij een Babboe-E bakfiets is het belangrijk dat je blijft trappen, je mag niet in stilstand schakelen.
• Bij de Babboe Mountain bakfiets maakt het niet uit of je trapt of niet tijdens het schakelen.
Banden- en spaakspanning
Om fijn te blijven fietsen moet de bandenspanning goed zijn. Dit betekent een bandenspanning
van 3,5 tot 4 bar. Hoe harder de banden, hoe lichter en comfortabeler de Babboe bakfiets fietst.
Banden lopen langzaam leeg, breng de banden daarom elke twee weken weer op druk. Controleer ook
maandelijks de spanning van de spaken. Slappe spaken kunnen namelijk lekke banden veroorzaken.
Als deze ‘los’ zitten, laat ze dan spannen door een Babboe monteur of bij een erkende fietsenmaker.
Verlichting
Alle bakfietsen hebben verlichting die is voorzien van het Keurmerk Fietsverlichting. De verlichting op de
elektrische bakfietsen bedien je met het display. De verlichting op de niet-elektrische bakfietsen, zet je aan
met de knop op de lamp.
Bevestiging van de driepuntsgordel
Alle familie bakfietsen hebben driepuntsgordels. De lengte van de gordels kun je zelf aanpassen, ze mogen
niet te strak of te los zitten. Wanneer je als volwassene je hand tussen de gordel en de borst van je kind kunt
doen heeft de gordel de juiste lengte.
Gebruik slot
Alle Babboe Pro bakken hebben een solide slot inclusief hendel, alleen de Babboe Pro Trike heeft een hangslot.
Open de bak door de knop op de hendel volledig in te drukken en de deksel voorzichtig omhoog te trekken. Om de
bak te sluiten laat je de deksel voorzichtig in het slot vallen. Je sluit de deksel strakker door daarna licht te duwen
totdat een tweede klik hoorbaar is. Voordat je gaat fietsen draai de deksel op slot met de bijgeleverde sleutel.

FIETSEN MET TRAPONDERSTEUNING
Je elektrische bakfiets heeft elektrische trapondersteuning. Dit betekent dat je tijdens het fietsen wordt
geholpen door een elektromotor. Door de krachtige trapondersteuning zal je gemakkelijk hogere snelheden
halen dan je gewend bent. Probeer daarom eerste de bakfiets even uit in een rustige omgeving zonder
kinderen of lading in de bak en met ondersteuning in de laagste stand.
• Bij het insturen van bochten, vertraag je snelheid voor je gaat sturen.
• Als je stopt met trappen wordt de ondersteuning ook onderbroken.
• Gebruik een lage trapondersteuning als je wegfietst uit stilstand en schakel de trapondersteuning naar
lagere stand als je over een glad of slecht wegdek fietst.
• De trapondersteuning heeft een grens van 25 km/u.
• De trapondersteuning bij de Babboe Max-E heeft een grens van 18 km/u waarbij je kunt bijtrappen tot
20 km/u.
DISPLAY EN BEDIENING
Systeem aan en uitzetten
Druk op de aan-/uitknop om de display aan te zetten. Houd dezelfde knop 2 seconden ingedrukt om deze uit
te zetten. De display en het systeem worden automatisch uitgeschakeld als de snelheid 0 km/u is en de fiets
10 minuten niet wordt gebruikt.
Functies
Er zijn diverse functies beschikbaar zoals het weergeven van de kilometerteller en de ritafstand.
Trapondersteuning instellen
Op het display van de elektrische bakfietsen kun je de gewenste ondersteuning instellen. Dit doe je met de
hulpmodusschakelaar (omhoog en omlaag) of met de plus- en min-knoppen.
Walk-assist (loopstand)
Met de walk-assist kun je met de bakfiets aan de hand de ondersteuning inschakelen. De walk-assist schakel
je in door de walk-assist knop of de plusknop 3 seconden in te drukken en deze tijdens het lopen ingedrukt te
houden. Het 6KM icoon verschijnt op het display en de Babboe bakfiets zal ondersteund worden tot 6 km/u.
Als je de knop loslaat, wordt de walk-assist uitgeschakeld. Houd als je de walk-assist gebruikt altijd beide
handen aan het stuur om te kunnen remmen indien nodig.

ACCU EN OPLADEN
Actieradius
De actieradius is de totaalafstand die je kunt fietsen met de elektrische bakfiets zonder de accu tussentijds
op te laden. De gemiddelde actieradius van je elektrische bakfiets is normaliter 40-60 km. Dit is afhankelijk
van factoren zoals het totaalgewicht in de bak, het wegdek, je rijgedrag, de buitentemperatuur etc.
De minimale actieradius van je Babboe Max-E is normaliter > 25 km.
LET OP
• Om de maximale capaciteit van de accu te kunnen bereiken, dient de accu tenminste 10 keer volledig
opgeladen/ontladen te worden.
• Per jaar kan de capaciteit tot 15% afnemen. Dit is normaal. De afname is afhankelijk van het gebruik
en laadcycli.
Accu plaatsen en loskoppelen
Om de accu los te koppelen moet je eerst het accuslot ontgrendelen met de sleutel. Vervolgens haal je de
accu uit de controllerbox. Bij de -E modellen doe je door deze via het handvat aan de onderkant van de accu
eruit te trekken. Bij de Mountain varianten doe je dit door de accu aan de bovenkant (bij de handgreep)
zijwaarts en daarna uit de stekkerhouder te tillen. Voor het plaatsen van de accu moet je de sleutel in het slot
plaatsen en moet het slot open zijn. Zorg ervoor dat accu in alle richtingen goed vastzit. Beveilig de accu door
het slot te sluiten.
LET OP
• Accu’s lopen langzaam leeg, ook als de bakfiets niet wordt gebruikt. Laad daarom de accu minimaal eens
in de 3 maanden op.
• Als je de accu voor langere tijd niet gebruikt, haal dan de accu uit je bakfiets en bewaar deze voor 80%
opgeladen binnen.
• Accu’s presteren minder bij lage temperaturen. Laat de accu eerst binnen op temperatuur komen voordat
je de lader aansluit.
Accu opladen
Gebruik de lader die je hebt gekregen bij de bakfiets. Laad je accu een keer volledig op voordat je deze voor
de eerste keer gebruikt. Als het led-lampje op de accu of adapter tijdens het laden knippert betekent dit dat
de accu nog aan het opladen is. Blijft dit lampje continu branden dan is de accu vol. Je kunt het laadproces
onderbreken, dit is niet schadelijk voor de accu.

GARANTIE EN ONDERHOUD
Garantie
Om de garantie op je bakfiets te behouden, is het van belang dat je binnen 4-12 weken (of na 100 km) een
controlebeurt laat uitvoeren om de belangrijkste onderdelen te controleren. Dit kan een Babboe monteur
doen maar je kunt hiervoor ook terecht bij een lokale fietsenmaker. Bewaar dan wel de bon als bewijs.
Op onze website vind je welke onderdelen er bij deze eerste beurt gecontroleerd worden.
Onderhoud
Onderhoud aan je bakfiets is belangrijk. Smeer tijdig bewegende delen en zorg ervoor dat de kabels soepel
blijven. Voor het onderhoud van de bak adviseren we een regendek, regentent of bakfietshoes te gebruiken.
Hiermee bescherm je de bak tegen verschillende weersinvloeden. Schade aan de lak maakt het hout
kwetsbaar voor vocht. Je kunt dit behandelen met een blanke lak, geschikt voor buiten. We adviseren je
om jaarlijks een onderhoudsbeurt uit te laten voeren. Bewaar voor de garantie de bonnen van de controle-
en onderhoudsbeurten.
Schoonmaken & behandelen
Maak je bakfiets regelmatig schoon dit bevordert de levensduur. Pas op met water in de buurt van
elektronica en de accu. Bij het schoonmaken kun je het beste de accu uit de bakfiets halen. Gebruik nooit een
hogedrukreiniger. Veel delen van de bakfiets hebben vet/olie of vaseline nodig. Haal dit niet weg, of breng
het na het schoonmaken van de fiets opnieuw aan. Smeer regelmatig de draaiende onderdelen zoals de
ketting en tandwielen.

USER TIPS
Cycling on a cargo bike
Cycling on a cargo bike is different than cycling on a regular bicycle. That is why we recommend that you try
out your cargo bike in a quiet area first, without children or goods in the box and with the electric assistance
(if available) at the lowest setting. It will help you get familiar with steering and braking.
The steering motion on a three-wheel cargo bike is different compared to a regular bike. The handlebar is
fixed to the box and you steer the box from left to right and vice versa. Always remain in an upright position,
even when turning corners. In very sharp turns, you can let go of the outside handlebar to prevent hanging
to one side. Keep this hand in the vicinity of the brakes, so you can brake immediately if necessary.
Cycling on a two-wheel cargo bike is similar to cycling on an ordinary bike. The steering motion is pretty
much the same, except the front wheel is located farther away from you compared to a regular bicycle.
While cycling, look straight ahead and don’t look at the front wheel, and try to accelerate immediately.
Turns are also easier when you have some speed.
Riding a Babboe Flow-E is a unique cycling experience. It has the stability of a three-wheel cargo bike,
but the steering motion of a two-wheel cargo bike. This makes it feel as if you were cycling on a regular bicycle.
Using the kickstand
Stand on the left-hand side of your cargo bike next to the saddle. Place your left foot on the top of the part
of the kickstand that sticks out, place both of the kickstand legs on the ground and, with both hands on the
handlebars, pull the cargo bike towards you. The cargo bike is now firmly set on the kickstand. To take the
cargo bike off the kickstand, hold the handlebar with one hand and the saddle with the other, then push the
cargo bike forward and the kickstand will fold up.
Parking Brake
All three-wheel cargo bikes have a parking brake in the left-hand brake lever. The parking brake differs
depending on the cargo bike model. For example, it may be either a button or a small catch that can be
moved. It works the same for all three-wheel cargo bikes. Tightly squeeze the brake lever and set the
parking brake.
Adjusting the handlebar
The height and angle of the handlebar can be adjusted. To do so, loosen the stem at the bottom and front
to adjust the angle, or loosen at the top to adjust the height. There is a line on the stem which indicates the
handlebar’s maximum permissible height. Make sure not to pull the stem out too far. Once properly adjusted,
tighten the handlebar stem.
PLEASE NOTE
Make sure the handlebar on your two-wheel cargo bike is straight when tightening the stem.

Adjusting the saddle
Depending on which cargo bike model you own, the saddle can be adjusted with the quick release seat post
clamp or with an Allen bolt. If your bike is equipped with quick release, pull the lever outwards and rotate the
set screw clockwise a quarter turn. Put the saddle at hip height, then lock the quick release by pushing the
lever as far up against the frame as possible. If you have an Allen bolt, loosen the bolt and set the saddle at
hip height. Then hand-tighten the bolt.
Gears
Your Babboe(-E) cargo bike has 7 gears. While cycling, you can shift gears from 1 to 7 using the shifter (on
the right-hand side of the handlebar). All Babboe Mountain models have a stepless shifting system. Using
the twist-grip control you can shift gears from a low pedalling frequency for flat paths to a high pedalling
frequency for ascending paths.
PLEASE NOTE
Always make sure you’re in first or second gear when taking off. In addition, never pedal backwards,
this may cause the chain to come off and damage the cargo bike.
• With a Babboe non-electric cargo bike stop pedalling while your shift gears.
• With a Babboe-E cargo bike it is important that you shift gears while pedalling.
• With a Babboe Mountain cargo bike it does not matter if you shift gears while pedalling or not.
Tyre pressure and spoke tension
Tyre pressure must be good in order to have an enjoyable ride. This means the tyre pressure should be
between 3.5 and 4 bar. The harder the tyres, the more comfortable and lighter it feels to cycle on a Babboe
cargo bike. Inner tubes deflate slowly, so adjust the tyre pressure every two weeks. Regularly check spoke
tension as well. Loose spokes may cause flat tyres. When spokes are ‘loose’, have them tightened by a
Babboe dealer or at an approved bicycle shop.
Lighting
All cargo bikes have lighting that bears the bicycle lighting quality label. Lighting on electric cargo bikes is
operated via the display. Lighting on non-electric cargo bikes is switched on and off with the button on the light.
Attaching the three-point belt
All family cargo bikes have three-point belts. The belt length can be adjusted, it should neither be too tight
nor too loose. If your hand can fit between the belt and your child’s chest, the belt is the proper length.
Lock box
All Babboe Pro boxes have a sturdy lock with a handle, only the Babboe Pro Trike has a padlock. Open the box
by fully depre ssing the button on the handle and carefully lifting the lid. To close the box, carefully let the lid
drop into the lock. While gently pressing down, you’ll hear a second click. This means the lid is tightly shut.
Before cycling, lock the lid using the key provided.

CYCLING WITH PEDAL ASSISTANCE:
Your electric cargo bike has electric pedal assistance. This means you’re getting some help from an electric
motor while cycling. You’ll easily reach higher speeds than usual with the powerful pedal assistance.
That’s why we recommend that you try out the cargo bike in a quiet area first, without children or goods in
the box, and with pedal assistance on the lowest setting.
• When turning corners, slow down before entering the turn.
• If you stop pedalling, the assistance will be interrupted.
• Use a low assistance setting when accelerating from a standstill, and switch to a lower setting when
cycling on a slippery surface or roads in poor conditions.
• The pedal assistance is limited to a speed of 25 km/h.
• The pedal assistance on the Babboe Max-E is limited to 18 km/h, but you can continue pedalling to a speed
of up to 20 km/h.
DISPLAY AND OPERATION
Switching the system on and off
Press the on/off button to switch on the display. Keep the same button pressed down for 2 seconds to switch
it off. The display and the system will be switched off automatically when the speed is 0 km/h, and the bike
hasn’t been used for 10 minutes.
Functions
There are several functions available, such as the odometer display and trip distance display.
Setting the pedal assistance
The electric cargo bike’s display lets you set the desired pedal assistance. Use the help mode switch
(up and down) or use the plus and minus buttons to set the pedal assistance level.
Walk-assist (walking mode)
With the walk-assist mode you can engage the assistance while walking your cargo bike. Engage the walk-
assist mode by pressing the walk-assist button or plus-button for 3 seconds and keeping it pressed down
while walking. The Babboe cargo bike will offer assistance up to 6 km/h. Release the button and the walk-
assist mode will be disabled. Always keep both hands on the handlebar when using the walk-assist mode in
case you need to brake.

BATTERY AND CHARGING
Range
The range is the total distance you can travel with the electric cargo bike without recharging the battery.
The average range of your electric cargo bike is typically 40-60 km. This depends on factors such as the total
weight in the box, the road surface, your cycling behaviour, the outdoor temperature, etc.
The minimal range of the Babboe Max-E is > 25 km.
PLEASE NOTE
• In order to achieve the battery’s maximum capacity, it must be fully charged/discharged at least 10 times.
• Each year, the capacity may be reduced by up to 15%. This is normal. The reduction depends on the use
and charge cycles.
Inserting and disconnecting the battery
To disconnect the battery, first unlock the battery lock with the key. Then remove the battery from the
controller box. If you have an -E model, you can do this by pulling the handle underneath the battery. If you
have a Mountain model, you can do this by first pulling the battery sideways from the top (using the handle),
and then lifting it from the plug. To insert the battery, the key must be in the lock and the lock must be open.
Make sure that the battery is securely in place on all sides. Secure the battery with the lock.
PLEASE NOTE
• Batteries will slowly lose their charge, even if the cargo bike is not being used. Therefore, charge the
battery at least once every 3 months.
• If you won’t be using the battery for a long time, remove the battery from your cargo bike and store it
indoors and 80% charged.
• Batteries have a lower performance at low temperatures. Let the battery come to room temperature
before connecting it to the charger.
Charging the battery
Use the charger that was provided with the cargo bike. Fully charge your battery once before using it for
the first time. If the LED light on the battery or adapter flashes during charging, it means the battery is still
charging. If the same light stays on continuously, it means the battery is full. The charging process may be
interrupted, it won’t damage the battery.

WARRANTY AND MAINTENANCE
Warranty
In order to maintain the warranty on your cargo bike, it’s important to have an inspection performed within
4-12 weeks (or after 100 km) to check the main components. This can be done by a Babboe dealer, but you
can also go to a local bicycle repair shop. Make sure to keep the receipt as proof. Our website tells you which
components should be inspected during this first maintenance check.
Maintenance
It is important to maintain your cargo bike. Regularly lubricate moving parts and make sure cables remain
flexible. To keep the box in good shape, we recommend a rain cover, rain tent or cargo bike cover. This will
protect the box from the elements. Damage to the paint makes the wood vulnerable to moisture. It can be
treated with a clear lacquer, suitable for outdoor use. We recommend you have your cargo bike serviced once
a year. Keep the service and maintenance receipts for warranty purposes.
Cleaning & treatment
Regularly clean your cargo bike, it will help your bike last even longer. Be careful when using water around

Never use a pressure washer. Many parts of the cargo bike require grease/oil or Vaseline lubricant.
Don’t remove these lubricants, or re-apply them after cleaning the bicycle. Regularly lubricate the moving
parts such as the chain and sprockets.
