Placement and Maintenance
Your Kite Shelf is designed for indoor use on level floors.
Clean wood veneer and steel parts with a moist cloth.
Kite is engineered for easy assembly. Carefully follow this procedure to
prevent any damage. Do not use power tools for assembly of this product.
Step 1
Unpack and identify the parts listed below. The assembly workspace
should be a non-marring surface such as carpet. For missing hardware
pieces, contact BDI Customer Service at: [email protected].

Step 2 - Place 1 shelf C4 upside down on some packing material as shown. Attach 1horizontal shelf frame
C1 using 5 flat head screws H1 and hex wrench T1. Make sure the metal frame goes into the slots. Repeat,
but leave 1 shelf and 1 horizontal shelf frame unassembled.

Step 3 - Unscrew caps from all 5 feet. Screw in 1 leveler H4 into the end of each foot. Repeat for all 5 feet.

Step 5 - Stand the shelf onto its legs about 1 foot away from the wall. Place the next shelf/frame assembly
onto the top of the 5 uprights making sure the shoulder of the hubs go into the top of the uprights as shown.
Secure with 5 more uprights as shown. Repeat until your shelf has 4 levels.

Step 4 - Assemble the first level by passing the threaded stud on the 5 uprights through the 5 hubs of the
horizontal frame and into the top of the 5 feet. Turning clockwise to tighten. Use both hands and tighten
securely.

Step 7 - Install 2 wall levelers H2 into the back of the third level (or center) shelf as shown.

Step 6 - Attach the 5th level horizontal frame A1 with the 3 middle caps C5 as shown. Do not attach the 2
outer caps yet.

Step 8 - With help from another person, grab the frame (not the shelves) and re-position your Kite shelf close
to the wall where it will remain. Position the wall anchor strap H3 over the neck as shown and mark the wall
with a pencil. Secure the wall anchor strap to the wall using a wall insert and screw (not included). Attach the
2 top caps C5 capturing the wall anchor strap ring on the neck of the top of the frames. The frame should
now be attached to the wall.

Step 9 - Attach the top shelf with 5 flathead screws H1 using hex wrench T1. Check to make sure your
shelf is level. Your Kite Shelf comes with levelers under each leg. Dial out the levelers if needed. Dial out the
wall levelers to make contact with the wall. Make sure your Kite Shelf is parallel to the wall. Enjoy!

User Guide:
Warning!
• For safety, the Kite Shelf MUST be attached to the wall.
• Failure to secure your Kite Shelf to the wall could lead to FATAL INJURY.
• NEVER climb the Kite Shelf.
• If you have small children make sure they NEVER climb the Kite Shelf.
Suggestions:
• Use a step ladder to reach items on the top shelf if needed.
• Place heavier objects on the bottom shelves
• The wall anchor straps should be attached behind the 5th level shelf (or above).
• Enjoy!
