he Fiber Remote Port USB over-
comes the standard 5-meter
(16.4-ft.) distance imitation for
connecting USB periphera s.
How? By transmitting USB signa s
across fiber optic cab ing. The
Fiber Remote Port USB gives you
access to USB devices that don’t
have to be at the same desk you
are, or even in the same room
or bui ding.
The Fiber Remote Port USB
consists of a oca unit and a
remote unit. The oca unit can be
connected to a host computer
with a standard Type A to Type B

The Fiber Remote Port USB
provides support for ow-speed
USB (1.5-Mbps) devices, such as
keyboards and mice, and high-
speed USB (12-Mbps) devices ike
Webcams and printers. It’s
compatib e with most operating
systems—whether they’re
Windows®98/Me/XP, Windows
2000, Macintosh®OS X, or Linux®.
That’s because the Fiber Remote
Port USB appears as a generic
USB hub to the operating system.
There’s no software to insta , and
it’s p ug-and-p ay.
