OVERVIEW
Suppose you have a small office with two to four computer
users and want to access a single central CPU or KVM switch.
Expand the number of consoles that share access to your
computer or switch with the ServShare™II. Available with two
or four ports, the ServShare II can be used for video splitting,
resource sharing, and KVM matrix applications.
The ServShare II features high bandwidth and video boost.
Substantial bandwidth (up to 280 MHz) ensures that
maximum amounts of data can be transmitted. Video boost
amplifies the video signal to compensate for losses caused
by long video cables. So not only do you get maximum data
transfer with the ServShare, but you can also transfer the
data over long runs of video cable (up to 96 feet [29.3 m]).
The ServShare supports high video resolutions up to
1600 x 1280. And it even supports super high resolutions
exceeding 1900 x 1440 when short cables are used.
To ensure maximum future compatibility, the ServShare
firmware is stored in flash-upgradeable memory that you
can upgrade from the keyboard port.
Power the ServShare II either from the attached computer
via the keyboard interface or from an optional power supply
(call Tech Support for details).
While distributing the video signal to all of the consoles,
the ServShare automatically manages access to the computer
or ServSwitch on a timeout basis by allowing only one KVM
console to be active at any one time. When a console is
inactive, the keyboard’s num, caps, and scroll lights flash.
After the ServShare has detected no keyboard or mouse
activity from the active console for the timeout period, it
enables the other consoles to access the central computer.
The ServShare II works with popular ServSwitch models
such as the ServSwitch Duo and Quadro. In these applications,
it’s configured as a “square matrix.” A square matrix system is
defined as one that has about the same number of console
connections as user connections. Using a combination of
ServShare and ServSwitch Quadro products, construct a
16-x-16 matrix KVM switch with a high degree of built-in
redundancy.

Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through
to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you
the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the
tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s
tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications
magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say
that getting the technical support they need is extremely
important when choosing a vendor. But even though
network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their
overall purchase price for a basic service and support
contract, the technical support and service they receive
falls far short of their expectations—and certainly isn’t
worth what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the
best support. You can even consult our Technical Support
Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just
the right component for your application.
Don’t waste time and money—call Black Box today.
Why Buy From Black Box?
