III. Cordless compact chain saw safety warnings
1. Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the chain saw is operang. Before you start the chain saw, make sure the saw chain is not contacng
anything. A moment of inaenon while operang chain saws may cause entanglement of your clothing or body with the saw chain.
2. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery causing loss of control.
3. Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the main handle and your le hand on the grip surface. Holding the chain saw with a reversed hand
conguraon increases the risk of personal injury and should never be done.
4. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the saw chain may contact hidden wiring. Saw chains contacng a "live" wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
5. Wear safety glasses and hearing protecon. Further protecve equipment for head, hands, legs and feet is recommended. Adequate protecve clothing will
reduce personal injury by ying debris or accidental contact with the saw chain.
6. Use clamps or another praccal way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable plaorm. Holding the workpiece by hand or against your body leaves
it unstable and may lead to loss of control.
7. Make sure you have rm foong when operang the power tool, especially when using it standing on steps or ladders. Slippery or unstable surfaces can
cause you to lose your balance or lose control over the power tool.
8. Only bring the power tool into contact with the workpiece when switched on. Otherwise there is danger of kickback if the cung tool jams in the workpiece.
9. Ensure that the footplate always rests securely while sawing. A jammed saw chain can break or lead to kickback.
10. When the cut is completed, switch o the power tool and then pull the tool out of the cut only aer it has come to a standsll. In this manner you can avoid
kickback and can place down the power tool securely.
11. Use only undamaged saw chain that are in perfect condion. Bent or dull saw chain can break, negavely inuence the cut, or lead to kickback.
12.Do not brake the saw chain to a stop by applying side pressure aer switching o. The saw chain can be damaged, break or cause kickback.
13. Use suitable detectors to determine if there are hidden supply lines or contact the local ulity company for assistance. Contact with electric cables can cause
re and electric shock. Damaging gas lines can lead to explosion. Breaking water pipes causes property damage.
14. The chain of the chain saw can tear if subjected to excessive strain. You should replace the power tool and/or saw chain if this happens.
15. Causes and operator prevenon of kickback: Kickback may occur when the nose or p of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in
and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reverse reacon, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator.
Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reacons may cause you to
lose control of the saw which could result in serious personal injury. Do not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your saw. As a chain saw user, you
should take several steps to keep your cung jobs free from accident or injury. Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect operang procedures or
condions and can be avoided by taking proper precauons as given below:
• Maintain a rm grip, with thumbs and ngers encircling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the saw
and posion your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Kickback forces can be controlled by the
operator, if proper precauons are taken. Do not let go of the chainsaw.
• Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height. This helps prevent unintended p contact and enables
beer control of the chain saw in unexpected situaons.
• Only use replacement bars and chains specied by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement bars and chains
may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
• Follow the manufacturer’s sharpening and maintenance instrucons for the saw chain. Decreasing the depth
gauge height can lead to increased kickback.
16. Before starng work, check that the chain saw is in proper working order and that its condion complies with the safety regulaons. Check in parcular that:
• The run-down brake is working properly;
• The bar and the sprocket cover are ed correctly;
• The chain has been sharpened and tensioned in accordance with the regulaons.
