Digital I/O Connector Block
The digital inputs are normally used with security sensors, e.g. passive infrared sensors
(PIR), smoke detectors, etc. They work by detecting a change in the state of open and
closed circuit. The output ports are normally used to trigger external audio or visual in-
dicators, e.g. sirens or strobe lights, etc.

Mounting on a Dropped Ceiling
Before you mount the camera on a dropped ceiling, you must rst ensure that the ceil-
ing is robust enough to hold the weight of the camera. Then refer to the following steps.
1. Use the supplied drill template to drill three mounting holes on the ceiling. Then
drill a hole for the camera’s protective cap.
2. Secure the camera to the ceiling using the supplied hex cap screws and hexagon
nuts. Make sure you use a spring washer and a plain washer in between the nut
and the ceiling (with the spring washer below the nut).

Re-routing Terminal Cable
If necessary, you can have the terminal cable exit from the bottom of the camera. To do
so, remove the camera’s top cover rst and go ahead to detach the entire terminal cable
, along with the plastic cable gland, from the camera. Then unscrew the plastic conduit
entry cover on the bottom. Fasten the plastic cable gland to the bottom conduit entry,
and thread the terminal cable through the bottom conduit entry, and then connect the
cables to the camera’s connectors. Finally, screw the plastic cover you’ve removed from
the camera’s bottom into the side conduit entry.

to the Cable/ADSL modem, please re-connect it to the Ethernet port of your net-
work hub/router.
2. Ethernet port on camera: Use a RJ-45 LAN cable to connect the Ethernet port of
the IP camera to the Ethernet port of your network hub/router.
3. Power adapter (optional accessory): Attach the power adapter to the camera’s
power connector when you are not using the camera’s PoE function. Then con-
nect the power plug to a power outlet. If you intend to use PoE (Power-over-
Ethernet) to power the camera, refer to the next section.
Connect Camera Using PoE
This camera supports PoE (Power-over-Ethernet), which allows electrical power and IP
data to be both delivered on a single Ethernet cable. The following instructions explain
how to connect your network camera using PoE.
1. Using PoE Switch: If the Ethernet ports on your network switch/router support
PoE (Power-over-Ethernet), you can directly connect the Ethernet port of the net-
work camera to the PoE port of your network switch/router to power the camera.

2. Using Non-PoE Switch: If you are using the camera with a non PoE capable net-
work switch/router, yet you still want to use PoE to power the camera, you need
to prepare a PoE injector (or midspan, not supplied) rst and then connect the
camera to a Non-PoE network switch through a PoE injector.

Operation
Access the Camera
Find Out the Camera's IP Address
Using the iWizard setup utility to search for your Compro IP camera on the LAN network
is the easiest way to nd out your camera's IP address, as the IP address of your camera
will be revealed in the search result.
To start searching for your camera using iWizard, double-click on the iWizard icon (or
tap Start > Programs > ComproView > iWizard) to launch the iWizard setup utility. Then
select your language and a camera model, and go ahead to scan for all the available
Compro IP surveillance products installed on your LAN network. The scanning generally
takes around 1 minute to complete, and once the scanning completes, you shall see
your Compro IP camera and its IP address on the list. Then you can double-click your
camera on the list to view live camera video right away on the Internet Explorer.
If your camera does not turn up on the list, try performing another search. Or try con-
necting your IP camera directly to your viewing PC, and run iWizard again to manually
congure the camera's IP address.
View Live Camera Video
After you have determined the camera's IP address, you may now:
1. Open the Internet Explorer on your viewing PC.
2. Enter the camera’s IP address in the address bar. (e.g. 192.168.0.100)
3. Adialogboxthatrequeststheusernameandpasswordappears;enteravalid
user name and password, and then press OK. The default user name and pass-
word are both "admin".
4. After valid user name and password are entered, Internet Explorer will prompt
the installation of camera software from "Compro Technology, Inc.’’
5. Click on the warning message and choose to install the ActiveX. (Compro ActiveX
components only support 32-bit Internet Explorer. Hence, if the viewing com-

puter system is running 64-bit version of Windows, the 32-bit version of Internet
Explorer must still be used to access the camera.)
6. And then the reconrmation dialog box will come up. Please press [Install] twice
to install both the "USActiveX.cab" and "ComproClientActivex.cab" on your sys-
tem.
7. Meanwhile, the Windows Security Alert dialog may appear. Please click [Unblock]
to unblock it from rewall.
8. Now you can start using WebVUer on Internet Explorer to watch live video and
manage IP camera.
Access the Camera over the Internet
To view camera video remotely over the Internet, one will need to:
1. Ensure that the camera’s image quality setting stays within the bandwidth limit.
Check the camera’s image quality setting in [Setup] > [Video]. If the quality set-
ting exceeds the upstream bandwidth limit, stuttering video or even blank screen
may occur.
2. Check the network ports used by the camera by going to [Setup] > [Network] and
note down the HTTP and RTSP port number, which are 80 and 554 respectively
by default.
3. Enable port forwarding on the router that the camera connects to, and allow trac
on ports the IP camera is using. Consult the user manual of your router for port for-
warding instructions. (When conguring port forwarding/mapping on your router,
note that the public RTSP port must be equal to the internal RTSP port used by the
IP camera.)

Compro NC3230 - Installation Guide
16 Operation
After configuring port forwarding successfully, you can now log on to the IP camera
from a remote location by entering the camera's IP address plus its HTTP port number in
the location eld of Internet Explorer. For example, enter "http://61.220.20.16:80".
If you have multiple Compro IP cameras installed, you will need to change the HTTP
and RTSP port on them manually so each one of them will use a different port. For
instance, let the second camera use HTTP port 81 and RTSP port 555 and log on to
"http://61.220.20.16:81" to access the second camera.
