4K HDMI®Switchers
Introduction
The Crestron®HD-MD6X2-4K-E, HD-MD4X2-4K-E, and HD-MD4X1-4K-E are 4K HDMI®
switchers. Each switcher supports high-resolution signals up to 4K/60 and provides
advanced DigitalMedia™ EDID management, native Crestron control via Ethernet, a built-in
web server, and a front panel OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display.
While similar in functionality, the switchers differ in the number of HDMI inputs and outputs:
•The HD-MD6X2-4K-E provides six HDMI inputs and two independent HDMI
outputs.
•The HD-MD4X2-4K-E provides four HDMI inputs and two independent HDMI
outputs.
•The HD-MD4X1-4K-E provides four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output.
This guide provides information about configuration of the switchers using the web
interface and the front panel OLED display. Information about the routing push buttons
is also provided. For additional information about the switchers, refer to the
HD-MD6X2-4K-E/HD-MD4X2-4K-E/HD-MD4X1-4K-E DO Guide (Doc.7760).
Using the Web Interface
Built-in web pages of the HD-MD6X2-4K-E, HD-MD4X2-4K-E, and HD-MD4X1-4K-E allow
configuration of routing, input, output, network, and device settings. In addition, information
about the switchers can be viewed.
Accessing the Web Interface
To access the web interface, do the following:
1. Note the IP address that appears on the front panel OLED display.
NOTE:
After power is applied to a switcher, the IP address appears on the front
panel OLED display.

2. Open a web browser.
3. Go to the IP address of the switcher.
The Login page opens. For login information, refer to “Logging In to a Switcher”
below.
Logging In to a Switcher
The Login page allows access to the web interface of a switcher.
Login Page
To log in to a switcher, do the following:
1. Enter the username and password. The default username is admin, and the default
password is admin.
NOTE:
The username and password are case sensitive.
NOTE:
For enhanced security, it is recommended that the default username and
password be changed. For information about changing the username and
password, refer to “Changing the Username and Password” on page 12.
2. Click the
Submit
button.
The Status page opens. For information about navigating the web interface, refer to
“Navigating the Web Interface” on the following page.

Navigating the Web Interface
The web interface provides a navigation bar and built-in web pages of the switchers.

The navigation bar provides access to the web pages as follows:
•Clicking
STATUS
accesses the Status page, which provides general information
about a switcher as well as network-related information. For additional information,
refer to “Viewing Status Information” on the following page.
•Clicking
ROUTING
accesses the Routing page, which allows routes to be set on a
switcher. For additional information, refer to “Configuring Routes” on page 5.
•Clicking
INPUTS
accesses the Input page, which allows the desired EDID to be
sent to the inputs. For additional information, refer to “Configuring Input Settings”
on page 6.
•Clicking
OUTPUT
accesses the Output page, which allows the selection of an input
for routing to an output. For additional information, refer to “Configuring Output
Settings” on page 8.
•Clicking
NETWORK
accesses the Network page, which allows network settings
such as hostname and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) mode to be
set. For additional information, refer to “Configuring Network Settings” on page 10.
•Clicking
DEVICE
accesses the Device page, which allows changes to username
and password settings and also controls various device functions. For additional
information, refer to “Configuring Device Settings” on page 11.
NOTE:
After 10 minutes of inactivity, the web interface times out and returns to the
Login page.

Viewing Status Information
General information, such as model name, serial number, and firmware version of a
switcher, can be viewed. The current network settings, such as hostname and IP address,
can also be viewed.
To view status information, do the following: In the navigation bar, click
STATUS
.
The Status page opens.

The Status page displays the following information about a switcher:
•General information, which consists of the following:
oModel (HD-MD6x2-4K-E, HD-MD4x2-4K-E, or HD-MD4x2-4K-E)
oSerial Number
oFirmware Version
•Network-related information, which consists of the following:
oHostname
NOTE:
In the sample Status page shown on the previous page for the
HD-MD6X2-4K-E, the default hostname is
HDMD6X2-6200F1
, where
6200F1
consists of the last six digits of the MAC address of the
HD-MD6X2-4K-E.
oIP Address
oSubnet Mask
oDefault Gateway
oMAC Address

Configuring Routes
Routes can be set so that an HDMI signal from any input on a switcher can be routed to any HDMI
output on the switcher.
•The HD-MD6X2-4K-E allows any of the six inputs to be routed to up to two
independent outputs simultaneously.
•The HD-MD4X2-4K-E allows any of the four inputs to be routed to up to two
independent outputs simultaneously.
•The HD-MD4X1-4K-E allows any of the four inputs to be routed to a single output.
To route the desired inputs to one or more HDMI outputs, do the following:
1. In the navigation bar, click
ROUTING
. The Routing page opens.

As shown above, the Routing page provides a list of inputs and a list of outputs.
NOTE:
The Routing page varies depending on the model of the switcher.
The Routing page shown above applies to the HD-MD6X2-4K-E, which has six
inputs and two outputs. For the HD-MD4X2-4K-E, the Routing page lists four
inputs and two outputs. For the HD-MD4X1-4K-E, the Routing page lists four
inputs and one output.
The default names of the HDMI inputs are
INPUT1,
INPUT2
,
INPUT3
,
INPUT4,
INPUT5
(HD-MD6X2-4K-E only), and
INPUT6
(HD-MD6X2-4K-E only). For the
HD-MD6X2-4K-E and HD-MD4X2-4K-E, the default names of the HDMI outputs

. For the HD-MD4X1-4K-E, the default name of the
HDMI output is

.
2. In the text entry boxes for the inputs and outputs, rename the inputs and outputs if
desired, and then click the
Save Names
button.
3. To route an input to an output, select the corresponding output radio button for the
input. The input is routed to the output immediately.

NOTE:
For the HD-MD6X2-4K-E and HD-MD4X2-4K-E, two output radio buttons
can be selected for a single input if desired.
NOTE:
For each output, the resolution and frame rate being transmitted to the
output are displayed. If the input resolution is changed, the resolution and frame
rate are updated dynamically. If no source is detected, the message
No Source
is
displayed.
4. (Applicable to the HD-MD4X1-4K-E only) Enable or disable automatic routing:
•To enable automatic routing, click the
TRUE
radio button if it is not already
selected. By default, the
TRUE
radio button is selected.
•To disable automatic routing, click the
FALSE
radio button.
To disconnect a route for an input, click the
<clear Route>
radio button for the
corresponding output.
Configuring Input Settings
The desired EDID can be selected and sent to the inputs. Built-in EDID files are available for
selection, and custom EDID files can also be selected. The EDID can be selected on a
global basis and sent to all inputs, or it can be selected on an individual basis for each input.
In addition, inputs can be renamed. HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
support can also be enabled or disabled for each input on an individual basis.
To send the desired EDID to the inputs, do the following:
1. In the navigation bar, click
INPUTS
. The Input page opens.
