Overview
The Sensor IQ DALI Control Option Card (IQ-DALI) controls 24 loops of 64 DALI compatible fluorescent
ballasts in broadcast mode. This document details the installation of this card in the Sensor IQ Intelligent
Breaker Panel. Information on installing option cards in other ETC panels is available at etcconnect.com.
Installation
The DALI Control Option Card can be installed on either interior wall of the low voltage
cavity.
1: There are four plastic standoffs included with the option card kit. Align the standoffs with the
mounting holes on the option card so the fins are located opposite the connectors.
2: Press gently until the plastic tabs pass through the mounting hole, locking into place.
3: Align the standoffs with the mounting holes on the interior of the low voltage cavity.
4: Press gently until the plastic tabs pass through the mounting hole, locking the option card into place.
Connect Wiring
• The Sensor IQ DALI Control Option Card provides four bus connections for termination of up to
24 DALI loops total.
• A screw connector is provided for each bus, and is labeled for ease of identification of each output.
• Each terminal accepts 4–0.25 mm2 (12–24 AWG) Class 2 or Class 1 wire. See the white paper

Note:
It is best to install any panel option kits after conduit rough-in and load wiring terminations are
complete to reduce the likelihood of damage to the option card. Reference the

Note:
Control wiring must be routed in separate conduit from the line voltage wiring for DALI
ballasts.

1: Pull DALI ballast control wiring pairs into the Sensor IQ low voltage trough. Reference the Sensor IQ
Installation Manual
for cable routing and conduit access information.
2: Strip the insulation back from each wire pair 6 mm (1/4 in).
3: Using a 3 mm (1/8 in) flatblade screwdriver, loosen the terminals and insert each of the data + and
data - wire set into the appropriate terminal for the circuit.
• Notice the connector is labeled for your wire termination reference.
4: Tighten each screw terminal until the wire is securely held.
5: Repeat steps 1–4 for the remaining DALI outputs in the panel.
• Connect up to 24 DALI loops per system.
Connect the Wire Harness
1: Noting connector orientation, plug one end of the wire harness (supplied with the option kit) into
the option card connector.
2: Noting connector orientation, plug the second end of the wire harness into one of the option card
headers found on the circuit board mounted on the inside rear of the panel as shown below.
Remove the Option Card
1: Use a small pliers to compress the plastic tabs on the mounting pins.
2: While the tabs are compressed, gently pull the option card away from the panel.
Note:
The associated output loop terminal number should always match the relay circuit number
inside the relay panel. For example: If relay 1 is connected to a DALI ballast load, control
wiring would terminate to the IQ-DALI option board output terminals labeled “+ 1 -”.
