These instructions are important for the safety, installation, use
and maintenance of the appliances. Please read the information
in these instructions carefully and keep the instructions to refer
to later.
The manufacturer is not liable if the following instructions are
not followed. The appliances must not be misused, i.e. contrary
to their intended use.
The packaging of your high-quality infrared heater is made of
recyclable materials.
This heater is not intended to be used by persons (including chil-
dren) with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge. Unless they are supervised
by a person responsible for their safety or receive instructions
from then on how to use the appliance. Children should be su-
pervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Overheating or overload protection
Each radiator has overheating protection, which triggers in case
of overheating. The appliance restarts automatically after it has
cooled to below 45°C.

• be handed over to the owner/operator after installation. In
addition, the owner/operator must be instructed in how the
- radiation-type heating appliance works.
• be kept carefully and handed over to the new owner in case
of a change in owner.
This appliance can be used by children of 8 years of age and
older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capacity or lack of experience and knowledge if they are super-
vised or have been instructed in safe use of the appliance and
they understand the resulting risks. Children may not play with
the equipment. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be car-
ried out by unsupervised children.
The heater may not be used if the surface is damaged. To pre-
vent overheating of the appliance, the heater must not be cov-
ered. Children younger than 3years old must be kept away from
the heater, unless they are monitored continuously. Children
aged 3 years to 8 years may only switch the appliance on and
o if they are supervised or if they have been instructed in safe
use of the appliance and have understood the resulting hazards,
provided that the appliance is positioned or installed in its in-
tended position for use. Children aged 3 years to 8 years may
not insert the plug into the socket, control the appliance, clean
and/or carry out maintenance on the appliance.
The appliance may only be started up in its mounted condition.
This heater may not be used in the immediate vicinity of a bath,
a shower or a swimming pool. If installed in bathrooms, the ap-
pliance must be attached so that switches and other controllers
cannot be touched by a person in the bath or under the shower.
The heater may not be used in small rooms occupied by persons
who cannot leave the room independently, unless continuous
monitoring is ensured.
Several parts of the product can get very hot and cause burns.
Particular caution is required if children and people requiring
protection are present.
INTRODUCTION
IMPORTANT: Any type of load on the surface,
whether persons leaning on the appliance, or ob-
jects or other force eects must be avoided!
IMPORTANT: Hot surfaces of the appliance can
cause burns. Switch o the appliance and allow it
to cool before any maintenance or service work.
IMPORTANT: Environmental influences such as
direct sunshine, extensive smoke exposure, open
fireplaces, etc. can cause discolouration of the sur-
face of the LAVA® STAND infrared heater.
WARNING: Covering the surface causes a risk of
overheating! Even local covering of the front, e.g.
with a hand towel can cause overheating and dam-
age to the heating element.
WARNING: The infrared heater many not be used if
the front is damaged.

The LAVA® STAND is an infrared radiation-type heater with high
radiation intensity. It is characterised by its homogeneous tem-
perature distribution and fast heating response. Thanks to its
internal insulation, it achieves a maximum radiation intensity in
the room. Standard LAVA® STAND appliances are delivered only
with a LAVA-R control.

CONTENTS AND PACKAGING
Important information
• LAVA® design infrared heaters made by ETHERMA meet the
relevant safety regulations.
• They may only be installed and put into service, repaired
and serviced by a licensed professional or a qualified per-
son in compliance with all safety regulations. They must
check beforehand whether the electrical installation in the
house conforms to the relevant standards. The manufac-
turer’s responsibility is limited to delivery of the appliance.
• The country-specific safety regulations must be complied
with.
• Local protection measures must be complied with.
• The appliances are also suitable for mounting on a wall.
• If the appliance is installed in bathrooms, the protection ar-
eas according to DIN VDE 0100 Part 701 must be complied
with.
• The minimum distances given must be complied with.
• The appliance may only be operated in its original condi-
tion, without changes and only if it is in a technically fault-
less condition. All protection devices must work faultlessly
and be freely accessible.
Note: In bathrooms, the appliance must be attached so that
switches and other controllers cannot be touched by a person in
the bath or under the shower.
Note: Due to the low surface temperature at the back of the ap-
pliance, the infrared heater may also be mounted on wooden
walls.

Starting up the design infrared heater
Before starting up the heater, please check the power connec-
tion cable and the surface of the heater. They must not be da-
maged.
1. Position the LAVA® STAND infrared heater in the required
place of installation.
2. Fold out the foot at the back completely until it stops.
3. Check the appliance is in a fixed stable position.
4. You can now plug in and start up the appliance. You can
use the LAVA-R control to set your own required feelgood
temperature.
PUTTING INTO SERVICE
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE FOR THE USER
Heating mode
Depending on the thermal insulation standard, you need bet-
ween 30W/m² and 200W/m² living space. The heating output of
the LAVA® design infrared heater has a very high radiation com-
ponent and a low convection component. For safety reasons,
the maximum surface temperature is approx. 120°C; the total
output of the appliances is therefore limited.
The LAVA® design infrared heater made by ETHERMA primarily
heats solid bodies and only heats the room air to a small extent,
so that these appliances are excellent for additional tempera-
ture control. To achieve the same feeling of comfort as with a
convection heater, the room air temperature can be lowered by
approx. 2–3K. Each degree lowered can save up to approx. 6%
heating costs, depending on the heating behaviour of the user
and the thermal installation standard.
The LAVA® design infrared heater is only switched on additio-
nally if the room is actually being used, and the radiation provi-
des heating for the people in the room. Depending on the size of
the appliance, the LAVA® design infrared heater needs a certain
amount of time until it reaches its operating temperature. Only
then does the radiation eect come into its own.
Care and maintenance
The LAVA® design infrared heater is designed to emit heat via its
surface in the form of radiation. There are no parts in or on the
appliance that require particular maitnenance. We recommend
using a damp cloth to clean your infrared heater. Please do not
use abrasives, as they can cause a scratched surface.
IMPORTANT: The LAVA® STAND infrared heat-
er must be checked for its stable position before
starting up.
IMPORTANT: If the mains connection cable of the
appliance is damaged it must be replaced by a
skilled, qualified person without delay.
IMPORTANT: Do not clean the LAVA® design infra-
red heater unless it is cold!

At the control module there is a 2-stage ON/OFF switch and a “+”
and “–” arrow button for setting the temperature and a two-digit
digital room temperature display.
• The flashing dot at the bottom right edge of the display me-
ans active heating mode.
• After approx. 30seconds, the display switches to POWER
SAVING MODE.
• Press an arrow button once to reactivate the ACTUAL room
temperature display.
• SWITCH POSITION I: The appliance is operated at half its
rated power and reaches a surface temperature of approx.
60°C to 70°C.
• SWITCH POSITION II: The appliance is operated at its full
rated power and reaches a surface temperature of approx.
85°C to 95°C.
• Press an arrow button repeatedly to adjust the required
SETPOINT room temperature up or down in 1-K steps.
USE
• If the displayed ACTUAL room temperature is too high, the
room temperature sensor at the back of the infrared heater
must be checked first.
• Follow the instructions for installation of the control mo-
dule!
• After checking, the displayed room temperature can be ca-
librated up or down.
• Use the “+” arrow button to set the setpoint temperature to
35°C first.
• Then press the “+” arrow button (approx. 5 seconds), until
“00” or the set calibration value is displayed.
• Use the “+” and “–” arrow button to calibrate the ACTUAL
temperature display up or down.
– UP: display right digit
– DOWN: display left digit
• After approx. 10seconds the display returns to the tempe-
rature display.
CALIBRATION
5. Press “-” arrow button until 0°C appears in the display
6. Press the “-” arrow button until “1” appears in the display
(“Learn mode” is active).
7. Follow the separate instructions for the eNEXHO NT mo-
dule.
