1 User instructions
Valve terminal type VTSA-ASI-...-8E8A-Z has been de
signed exclusively for controlling pneumatic actuators and
is only suitable for use in bus systems in accordance with
the AS-Interface specifications. If additional commercially-
available components are connected, the specified limits
for pressures, temperatures, electrical data, torques, etc.
must not be exceeded.
The valve terminal enables the control of 8 valve solenoid
coils and the registering of 8 sensors. The exchangeable
connections of the CPX system are used for connecting the
sensors.
AS-Interface bus systems and valve terminals may only be
installed by personnel especially trained for this purpose.
Specifications on the design and addressing of your bus
system can be found in the manual for the AS-Interface
master.

valve terminal can be found in the Pneumatics manual type
P.BE-VTSA-...
Caution
SSwitch off the power supply before connecting or
disconnecting plugs (otherwise this could lead to
functional damage).
SCommission only a valve terminal which has been
fitted and wired completely.
SConnect the earthing cable between the adapter
module and the multipin node.

Note
The AS-Interface has an integrated watchdog function
which resets the outputs (solenoid coils) if the bus
communicationfails.

3 Installation instructions
3.1 Mounting the valve terminal
The valve terminal can be fastened in hat rails or mounted
on a wall.
Note
In order to guarantee resistance to shocks and vibra
tion, the maximum distance between the fastening
points must not exceed 280 mm.
3.2 Connections and address assignment of the inputs
The valve terminal uses the exchangeable connections of
the CPX system. Replace the sub-base as follows:
1. Loosen the 4 screws in the sub-base 9with a TORX
screwdriver size T10.
2. Pull the sub-base 9carefully and without tilting away
from the electrical plug connector.
3. Insert the new sub-base. Tighten the 4 screws of the sub-
base (tightening torque of the screws 0.65Nm±10%).
4. Make the necessary connections. Seal unused connec
tions with protective caps.
Note
The sub-base CPX-AB-4-M12x2-5POL (-R) must not be
used.

3.3 Address assignment
Before connecting to the AS-Interface bus: assign an
unused address to each slave.
Note
Valve terminal type VTSA-ASI-...-8E8A-Z contains two
AS-Interface slaves. The valve terminal behaves on the
AS-Interface bus like 2individual valve terminals each
with 4 inputs and 4 outputs.
– Permitted address range for each slave: 1 … 31
(Factory settings: 1 for slave 1, 2 for slave 2).
– It is not necessary to parametrize the AS-interface
slaves.
Address both slaves one after the other at the plug
“AS-iIn” (see section 3.5).
Note
Never assign the same address to both slaves.
The assignment of the data bits to the inputs and outputs
of both independent slaves is shown in the following
diagram.

master.

3.4 Address assignment of the solenoid coils
Depending on the linking up to 8 valve locations can be
assigned. The following applies to VABV...T2:
– solenoid coil 14 occupies the lower-value address,
– solenoid coil 12 occupies the higher-value address.
Addresses are assigned on the solenoid coils in ascending
order without gaps, from left to right.
The number of assigned addresses per valve location
depends on the manifold base, irrespective of whether
valves or cover plates are fitted.
