1 User instructionsEnglish
The CDVI has been designed exclusively for controlling
pneumatic actuators. The maximum values specified in
the section “Technical specifications” must be observed
here. Detailed information can be found in the Pneumatics
manual P.BE-CDVI-... .
Warning
SSwitch off the power supply before connecting or
disconnecting plugs. You can thereby avoid func
tional damage.
SUse only power units which guarantee reliable
electrical isolation of the operating voltage as per
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1. Observe also the general
requirements for PELV power circuits as per
IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
SMake sure that there is a conductive connection with
sufficient cross-sectional area between the CDVI and
the earthed mounting surface or earthed machine
rack.
Please note
Commission only a valve terminal which has been fitted
and wired completely.
Please observe the instructions for connecting the
“pressure compensation” in the manual P.BE-CDVI-... .

2 Multi-pin connection
2.1 Multi-pin plug
Each valve solenoid coil must be assigned to a specific pin
of the multi-pin plug in order that the valves can be actu
ated. A valve position always occupies two addresses on
the base block, irrespective of whether it is fitted with a
blanking plate, separator plate or valve sub-base. The
number of addresses which a valve position occupies in
the expansion blocks depends on the expansion blocks
used.
Bi = expansion block which occupies 2 addresses
Mo = expansion block which occupies 1 address
Extension blocks
Occupies 1 address per valve

Caution
The components of the valve terminal contain electro-
statically sensitive elements. The components will be
damaged if you touch the contact surfaces of the plug
connectors or if you do not observe the regulations for
handling electrostatically sensitive components.
Long signal lines reduce the immunity to interference.
Do not exceed the maximum permitted signal line
length of 10 m.

The multi-pin plug is fitted in the left-hand end plate at
the factory.
The following diagram shows the pin numbering of the
multi-pin plug in the left-hand end plate of the valve ter
minal (view of plug):

2.2 Pin allocation of the multi-pin plug
Notes on the following table:
– Designation of the core colours as per DIN/IEC 757
– The multi-pin cable has 27 cores. Only 26 cores
are used. The remaining core can be cut back (core
colour see following table).

Please note the following addressing rules:
The following table shows the address assignment of
the manifold blocks.
Further address assignment depends on the type of
the expansion block.
2 Bi-expansion block = 4 addresses
2 Mo-expansion block = 2 addresses
1 Bi-expansion block = 2 addresses
1 Mo-expansion block = 1 address
Complete the assignment list (following table) according
to the expansion blocks used on your valve terminal.
Please note
Maximum 8 addresses can be addressed in the exten
sion.

3 Controlling the valve terminal
Use a uniform method of control. Preferably all control
signals should be positive-switching (1-switching), other
wise all control signals negative-switching (0-switching).
Mixed mode control is not permitted.
3.1 Address assignment of the valves
– Assign the addresses in ascending order without gaps.
– Counting begins from left to right, but on the individ
ual valve positions from right to left.
– A valve position occupies 2 addresses on the manifold
block and Bi-expansion block, even if it is fitted with a
blanking plate. On the Mo-expansion block 1 address
will be assigned.
– In the case of valves with two pilot solenoids, pilot
solenoid 14 occupies the lower-value address and
pilot solenoid 12 occupies the higher-value address.
– In the case of valves with only one pilot solenoid on
Bi-blocks, the higher-value address remains unused.
