2 Safety
2.1 Safety instructions
– Take into consideration the legal regulations for the respective destination.
– Use the product only within the defined values è 12 Technical data.
– Observe labelling on the product.
– Observe further applicable documents.
– Store the product in a dry, UV- and corrosion-protected environment.
– Before working on the product:
Switch off the power supply and secure it against being switched on again.
2.2 Intended Use
The product described in this document is intended only for use as an interface between an automa-
tion system CPX-AP and devices with IO-Link Port.
Use the product only as follows:
– Use only in an industrial environment. Outside industrial environments, e.g.in commercial and
residential/mixed-use areas, it may be necessary to take measures to suppress radio interference.
– Use only in combination with modules and components that are permissible for the respective
product variant èwww.festo.com/catalogue.
– Only use the product if it is in perfect technical condition.
2.3 Training of qualified personnel
Installation, commissioning, maintenance and disassembly should only be conducted by qualified per-
sonnel. The qualified personnel must be familiar with installation of electrical control systems.

5 Product overview
5.1 Function
The module provides four IO-Link Ports ClassB (typeB) for connecting IO-LinkDevicesto an automa-
tion system CPX-AP.
The module behaviour can be parameterised è 9 Parameterisation.
Status and error messages are indicated by LED displays on the module and reported to the interface
via system communication.

6 Assembly
• Assemble the module as outlined in the “Instruction manual for automation system
CPX-AP"è 1.1 Other applicable documents.
7 Installation
• Carry out the installation according to the "Instruction manual for automation system CPX-AP"
è 1.1 Other applicable documents.
• When connecting Devices Class A with 4 or 5-pin cables, do not connect pins 2 and 5.
8 Commissioning
• Commission the automation system CPX-AP in accordance with the "Instruction manual for auto-
mation system CPX-AP" è 1.1 Other applicable documents.

8.1 Address space (data length inputs/outputs)
The address space (data length inputs/outputs) provided by the module can be set using software.

The "IO-Link Device Tool" software can be used to set the address space (data length inputs/outputs)
èwww.festo.com/sp.
The setting is saved permanently in the module. Changes only become effective after a restart of the
automation system CPX-AP.
8.2 IO-Link Device description file (IO-Link Device Description)
IO-Link Device information can be imported into the module via an IO-Link device description file.
The "Festo IO-Link Tool" software can be used to import the IO-Link device description file

9 Parameterisation
Various parameters are available for reading out information about the modules in an automation sys-
tem CPX-AP and adapting the modules to the application situation.

10.1 Diagnostic messages
Diagnostic messages of an IO-Link device are sent to the IO-Link master via event codes. The event
code is mapped in the IO-Link master to a diagnostics ID è 10.3 Event codes.
