1. SAFETY WARNINGS
 The FDK54 Series Dehumidifier mus always be connec ed using he grounded elec rical connec ion as
required from all elec rical appliances. The warran y is voided and all responsibili y for he opera ion is
born by he owner if non-grounded wiring is u ilized.
 The FDK54 Dehumidifiers mus only be main ained and serviced by a qualified echnician.
 The FDK54 Dehumidifiers are in ended only for opera ion when orien ed wi h he uni si ing on i s fee
and level. Any o her orien a ion could cause wa er o come in con ac wi h he elec rical componen s.
Remove plug before moving dehumidifier. If any wa er may have spread hroughou uni , he uni should
be opened and allowed o dry horoughly before reconnec ed o elec ric and res ar ing.
 For proper opera ion, nei her he inle or discharge should be posi ioned agains a wall. The inle
requires a minimum of 12” clearance and he discharge needs a minimum of 24” clearance.
 For proper diffusion of air hroughou he room, he dehumidifier should be posi ioned wi h he sides
agains a wall and he inle and discharge perpendicular o he wall.
 Do no inser any objec s in o he inle or discharge. If service is required, call a qualified echnician. All
work on uni should be down wi h he uni “off” and unplugged.
 Do no use wa er o clean uni ex erior. Only use a damp clo h wi h uni unplugged.
 Do no use uni as shelf or device o hang clo hes. This could cause damage o uni .
 The inle fil er generally needs cleaned once per mon h. Check uni on a weekly basis o ensure ha
more frequen cleaning is no required.

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
Func ioning
This dehumidifier is a refrigera ing cycle dehumidifier: i s func ioning is based on a physical principle according
o which he air, coming in o con ac wi h a cooled surface, we s he surface by covering i wi h humidi y in he
form of condensed drops, or ice wi h low ambien empera ure. Wha really happens is ha a refrigera ing
machine main ains in a refrigera ed s a e he coil hrough which is conveyed he incoming air ha , in his way, is
cooled and dehumidified. Then he air, passing hrough a warm hea -exchanger, hea s up and re urns in he
room dehumidified and a a sligh ly higher empera ure.
The FDK54 Dehumidifier is a refrigera ing machine which u ilizes i s Elec ronic Board for Room Humidi y
con rol and Defros ing Device con rol. When he rela ive humidi y goes above he selec ed se poin , he
dehumidifier will energize. Air, moved by an elec ric fan, is drawn across an evapora or coil. The evapora or
coil is cooler han he dew poin of he air so mois ure will condense ou of he air.
Air is hen rehea ed hrough he condenser coil and dis ribu ed back in o he room a a li le bi higher
empera ure and lower Rela ive Humidi y.
If he room empera ure is lower han abou 32°F, he condensed mois ure become ice; In his case every
roughly 30 minu es, a defros device allows, anks a Solenoid Valve, ho gas supplied by he compressor en er
he evapora or mel ing he ice.
3. INSTALLATION
The area o be con rolled should be sealed wi h a vapor barrier. If ins alled in a crawlspace, all ven s should be
sealed.
 Place dehumidifier on level surface
CAUTION – Once uni is posi ioned, if he machine didn’ remain always in ver ical posi ion, wai minimum 5
hours before urning he uni “on.” The Elec ronic board manages he compressor s ar and s op o preven he
compressor s ar s oo close.
 Rou e drain line (3/4” ID ubing) o drain condensed wa er ou side of he area.
 Plug uni in o 10 amp grounded ou le .
 To opera e uni , press Power key un il uni energizes.
o Confirm compressor is running and allow o run for minimum of 15 minu es
 If under 70°F, a layer of ice will form on evapora or coil
 If over 70°F, a layer of fros or wa er drople s will form on coil
 Af er you’ve confirmed sa isfac ory opera ion of uni , humidis a should be se a desired posi ion for
au oma ic opera ion.
NOTE : Humidis a se ings are approxima e only. For cri ical applica ions, you may wan o confirm ac ual
se ings wi h a psychrome er and adjus according.

3. CONTROL
Signa ing pane
Uni s are provided wi h signalling ligh panel ha indica es uni opera ional s a us. Below is repor ed a brief
descrip ion of heir meaning.
Contro pane
The Elec ronic card wi h microprocessor, con rol many func ions:
Power LED ; i ’s on when he machine is in he ON s a e.
A arm LED ; i ’s on when an alarm comes on. I urns off if he alarm is rese .
Working LED ; he LED is on when he compressor is running, blinks when he dehumidifier is
wai ing o res ar or is in defros . I ’s swi ched off when, in he ON s a e, he se of desired
humidi y has been reached.
ON/OFF function ; plugged in o he ou le (wi h ground wire!), he display urns on and shows he
rela ive humidi y in he room.
The machine is in he OFF s a e when he Power LED is off. I ’s in he ON s a e when he Power LED
is on.
When OFF, o swi ch on he dehumidifier, simply press he POWER key and depending on he
rela ive humidi y se he machine s ar s working.
When he machine reaches he level of required mois ure goes in o s and-by mode: au oma ically
s ops bu remains in he ON s a e (POWER LED on).
If he humidi y goes above he se poin he dehumidifier s ar s again.
When ON o pu he dehumidifier in OFF jus press he POWER bu on ( he display con inues o
indica e he humidi y in he room).
No e: pu ing he machine OFF and immedia ely ON, he compressor does no s ar immedia ely and
he Run led s ar s o flash. Af er a ime of 210 seconds he machine res ar s.
HUMIDITY/TEMPERATURE SET function ; press one of he SET-/ +: he display s ar s flashing o
indica e he humidi y se ; con inuing o press SET-/ + you can bring o he se of required mois ure
(from 30% o 80%). Af er 4 seconds he display s ops flashing and he new se of mois ure is
de ec ed by he con rol uni .
I ’s possible o make he machine works regardless of he degree of mois ure holding SET- un il he
message "Con " appears.
HOUR COUNTER : o show on he display he machine opera ing ime push swi ch HOURS.

4. UNIT ALARMS
PROBLEM
PROBABLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION
+ “Lo ”
I occurs for wo possible reasons: he environmen empera ure is oo low or
he defros cycles are no able o mel he ice in he ba ery. To rese pu he
dehumidifier above 50°F, if no rese pu he dehumidifier off wi h POWER
bu on and unplug he machine.
+ “LoP ”
Possible lack of gas in he circui . The alarm rese s au oma ically af er 210
seconds.
If he alarm does no rese simul aneously press and SET HOURS + for 10
seconds. If he problem occurs again, call for service.
+ “HI ”
Combina ion of empera ure and humidi y oo high.
The alarm rese s au oma ically when he empera ure drops.
“Prob”
Malfunc ion humidos a . In any case, he machine con inues o opera e. Con ac
he service o replace he humidis a .
+ “Pro1” o
“Pro2” o “Pro3”
Malfunc ion of one of he hree empera ure probes. The dehumidifier goes in o
s and-by mode. Con ac he service o replace he probes.
5. FIRST STARTING OF MACHINE
Before s ar ing he dehumidifier, make sure ha he machine has been s anding in ver ical posi ion for a -
leas 5hours. If one fails o observe his procedure, irreparable damage may be caused to he compressor.
Then one can proceed and connec he dehumidifier plug o a 115 V - one phase power socke .
If he dehumidifiers is s ill off, se a lower value of humidi y on he con rol panel .
Af er abou 3 minu es he dehumidifier wi start dehumidifying.
6. PERIODICAL MAINTENANCE
Air Fi ter C eaning
The only required periodical main enance is he cleaning of he fil er once every month, or more of en if
he environmen is very dus y or he dehumidifier is working for many hours every day.
The cleaning mus be done by placing he fil er under a wa er je wi h he drilled panel facing he floor so
ha he wa er je may push he fil er owards he drilled panel.
Af er a few years running, may be necessary o make a cleaning of he warm hea exchanger (condenser)
by using compressed air. This opera ion mus be done by a specialized echnician. This cleaning will
improve he performances and he long life of he machine.
Note: You can require spare fi ters from your dea er's service.

Warning : Never apply an external source of heat to melt ice off coil.
Maintenance – Annual Inspection of Coils and drain line is required.
. Unplug Unit
2. Filter may be cleaned by
a. Vacuuming
b. Washing with warm, soapy water. Rinse and shake dry.
3. Coils may be cleaned by
a. Vacuuming the external surfaces of coil
b. Blowing compressed air from behind coils. Hold air nozzle 6” away from coil to avoid damage.
Warning : Do not steam clean refrigerant coils.

5. Test Refrigerant Charge
a. Confirm compressor is running and allow to run for minimum of 5 minutes
i. If under 70°F, a layer of ice will form on evaporator coils
ii. If over 70°F, a layer of frost or water droplets will form on coil
6. Test Defrost System
a. Leave unit running for approximately 30 minutes (45-55 minutes). The unit should enter a
defrost mode for approximately 5 minutes. The unit will enter a defrost mode with the
compressor operating and fan off to defrost the coil. If the unit will not defrost, either
i. Control board may be defective
ii. Bypass valve may be defective
7. After routine maintenance has been completed, return humidistat to desired setting.
If any problems occur during routine maintenance, contact your contractor or the factory.

WHAT IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY
Aerus is pleased o pass hrough o cus omers he warran ies provided o Aerus by Fral, SRL.
Specifically, he Produc is warran ed o he Cus omer, subjec o he condi ions herein, as follows: (i)
he Produc will be free of ma erial defec s in workmanship and ma erial, for a period of Two (2) years
following he da e of ini ial purchase of such Produc by an original cus omer from an au horized reseller
(“Customer”); and (ii) he Produc ’s condenser, evapora or, and compressor will be free of ma erial
defec s in workmanship or ma erials for a period of five (5) years following he da e of ini ial purchase of
such Produc by a Cus omer.
LIMITATION OF REMEDIES.
CUSTOMER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY AND AERUS’
ENTIRE LIABILITY HEREUNDER, SHALL BE, AT THE SOLE OPTION OF AERUS, REPLACEMENT
OR REPAIR OF SUCH PRODUCT OR ITS COMPONENTS (“COMPONENTS”) BY AERUS OR
AERUS’ AGENTS ONLY. REFRIGERANT, PIPING, SUPPLIES, TRANSPORTATION COSTS, LABOR
COSTS INCURRED IN REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF SUCH COMPONENTS ARE NOT
INCLUDED. THIS DISCLAIMER AND EXCLUSION SHALL APPLY EVEN IF THE EXPRESS
WARRANTY AND LIMITED REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.

ear shall no be considered a defec in workmanship or ma erial. These warran ies do no apply for loss
or damage caused by acciden , fire, abuse, misuse, improper ins alla ion, leaking, modifica ion,
misapplica ion, wea her, freezing, lack of normal care, failure o follow wri en ins ruc ions or any repairs
o her han hose provided by our au horized Service Cen er. This warran y is non- ransferable and does
no cover consumable i ems such as fil ers.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
As a fur her condi ion o ob aining warran y coverage hereunder, he Cus omer mus send a valid
warran y claim o Aerus such ha Aerus receives such claim prior o he end of he applicable warran y
period. Aerus shall have no obliga ion hereunder wi h respec o any claim received by Aerus af er he
expira ion of he applicable warran y period. As a fur her condi ion o ob aining warran y coverage
hereunder, he Cus omer mus presen forms of invoices evidencing proof of purchase of a Produc . If
such invoices do no clearly indica e he da e of ini ial purchase by a Cus omer, he applicable Produc ’s
da e of manufac ure will be used ins ead of he da e of ini ial purchase for he purpose of
calcula ing he commencemen of he applicable warran y period. Warran y service mus be performed
by Aerus or a servicer au horized by Aerus. In order o ob ain warran y service, he Cus omer should
call Aerus a 1-888-764-0693 or via email a suppor @aerusonline.com, which will hen arrange for
applicable warran y service. Warran y service will be performed during cus omary, day ime working
hours. If he Produc mus be shipped for service, Cus omer shall be solely responsible for properly
packaging he Produc , for all freigh charges, and for all risk of loss associa ed wi h shipmen .

HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE

or replace and re urn he produc , wi hou charge and wi hin a reasonable period of ime, subjec o he
condi ions herein, if our examina ion shall disclose any par o be defec ive in workmanship or ma erial.
If we, in our discre ion, are unable o repair he produc af er a reasonable number of a emp s, we will
provide ei her a refund of he purchase price or a replacemen uni , a he company’s op ion. We reserve
he righ o inspec and/or require conforma ion of ins alla ion me hod.
