Safety Instructions
This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Improper use can, however, lead to
personal injury and property damage.
To handle the appliance safely, follow the instructions below:
• Check the appliance for external, visible damage to the housing, the connector cable and the plug
before using it. Do not put a damaged appliance into operation.
• If the machine’s connecting cable is damaged, continued use of the machine is only allowed it has
been replaced with a new one. Have it installed solely by the manufacturer or its customer service or
a similarly qualied person to prevent hazards.
• Repairs are only allowed to be performed by a specialist or by the Graef customer service depart-
ment. Improper repairs can lead to extreme hazards for the user and damage the appliance. Further-
more, the warranty claim expires.
• Only Graef customer service is authorised to repair the appliance during the warranty period, other-
wise the warranty expires for subsequent damages.
• Defective components must be replaced solely with genuine spare parts. Fullment of the safety
regulations is only guaranteed if these parts are used.
• Always disconnect the appliance from the supply if it is left unattended and before assembling, di-
sassembling or cleaning.
• This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
• Appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliancel.

• Do not use the appliance if the rotating sieve or the protecting cover is damaged or has visible cracks.
• The appliance is not intended to be used with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
• This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen
areas in shops, ofces and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and
other residental type environments; bed and breakfast type environments.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service or similarly quali-
ed persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• Always pull the supply line from the electric socket using the connector plug, not on the connector
cable.
• Never operate the appliance with wet hands.
• Do not use the packaging material as a toy. Danger of suffocation.
• Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents and do not use any solvents.
• Do not scratch off stubborn soiling with hard objects.
• Do not wash in the appliance in water, do not immerse it into water and do not put it in the dish-
washer.
• Do not try to regrind previously ground coffee.
• Switch off the appliance and disconnect from supply before changing accessories or approaching
parts that move in use.
• Let the appliance cool off before cleaning.
• Make sure that no liquid gets into the interior of the appliance.
• The appliance is suitable solely for grinding coffee beans.
Before the rst use
Clean all parts as described in “Cleaning”.

Unpacking
To unpack the unit, proceed as below:
• Take the unit out of the carton.
• Remove all pieces of the packing.
• Remove any possibly extant labels on the coffee grinder (do not remove the rating plate).
Requirements for the installation location
For safe and awless operation of the unit, the place of location must meet these prerequisites:
• The unit must be set up on a rm, at, level, non-slip and heat resistant base that has sufcient load
bearing capacity.
• Select the place of location so that children cannot reach the hot surfaces of the unit.
• The unit is not intended for installation in a wall or a built-in cupboard.
• Do not set up the unit in a hot, wet or moist environment.
• The electric socket must be readily accessible so that the power cord can be easily unplugged.
Operating and speed settings
• Maximum operating time is 4 minutes. After these 4 minutes please let the appliance cool down to
room temperature and start again.
Grind setting
You can inuence the composition of the coffee with various grind settings.
The wide range of grind settings lets you make a precise adjustment.
Please observe the instructions below when using the coffee grinder.
The ner the grind, the longer the grinding process takes.
• If you use a ne grind level, it is possible that the coffee sticks together. During grinding, knock on
the coffee bean container cover so that any possible coffee bean clumps do not block the grinding.

Grinding coffee
• Plug the plug into the electric socket.
• Put the group handle bracket on the bracket.
• Fill the coffee bean container with coffee beans.
Always only use whole coffee beans.
Fill the coffee grounds container regularly with coffee beans. Constant weight is important to ensure
smooth grinding.
• Slide the coffee bean container or the grouple handle between the group handle bracket.
• Press the coffee grounds container or groupe handle on the button between the groupe handle bra-
cket.
• Select the grind setting by turning the grind adjustment collar to the desired setting during grinding
process.
• When the desired amount of coffee has been ground, remove the coffee grounds container or group
handle bracket.
Cleaning
Old coffee remaining in the unit can lead to oxidation. That spoils taste negatively. The units should
always be in optimum condition to be able to provide optimum espresso at any time.
• Ensure the unit is switched off and unplugged from the power outlet.
• We recommend to clean the grinder once a week.
• Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, moist cloth. If heavily soiled, a mild detergent can be used.

• You can only remove the coffee bean container when no beans are left in the container.
• Turn the grind adjustment collar to grind setting 25.
• Press the button on the backside of the unit.
• Turn the grind adjustment collar counter-clockwise until the marks point to each other.
• Release the button.
• During the removing of the coffee bean conatiner, hold the grind adjustment collar.
• Clean the coffee bean container and coffee grounds container with warm water and a little deter-
gent.
• After that, dry both receptacles well.
Cleaning the burrs
• Remove the coffee bean container as described in “Cleaning”.
• Remove the grind adjustment collar.

• Clean the burr using the burrcleaning brush.
• Once everything is cleaned, return the grind adjustment collar to its position in the motor base.
• With the grind adjustment collar in hand align the arrow on the collar with the arrow on the rear of
the motor base, press down.
• Replace the coffee bean container back into position and turn clockwise to the desired grind setting.

dealer or the Graef customer service department.
Disposal
This product may not be disposed of in the household waste at the end of its lifecycle; it must be
taken to a collection point for recycling of electronic household waste. The symbol on the product
and in the operating instructions indicate this. The materials are recyclable in accordance with their
labelling. By re-using, recycling the materials or utilising old appliances in other ways, you are making
an important contribution to protecting our environment. Please ask your local authority about where
to nd the appropriate disposal site.
2-year guarantee
For this product we assume a 24-month 3manufacturer guarantee from the date of sale for defects
due to manufacturing or material faults. Your statutory guarantee rights pursuant to Section 439 ff.
of the German Civil Code (BGB-E) remain unaffected by this provision. The guarantee does not cover
damages which have arisen as a result of improper treatment or usage or defects which only slightly
impair the function or value of the appliance. Furthermore, damage in transit is excluded from the

guarantee unless we are responsible. Damages arising from a repair not carried out by us or one of
our representatives are excluded from the guarantee. In the case of justied claims, we will repair the
defective product or exchange it for an undamaged product at our discretion.
