Installation Instructions- CX
Warning
This replacement kit shall be installed by a qualified service agent in accordance with these
instructions and all applicable codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. If the
information in these instructions is not followed exactly a fire, an explosion or production of
carbon monoxide may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
The qualified service agency is responsible for the proper installation of this kit. The installation
is not proper and complete until the operation is checked as specified in these instructions.
Danger
Never operate the combi boiler unless the trap is filled with water. Failure to comply will result in
severe personal injury or death.

When to Install the P-1609 Condensate Pipe Replacement Kit
Install the P-1609 kit if you need to replace a leaking or damaged condensate pipe on a CX unit.

Note
A ladder or step may be required to have a clear vertical view of the work area.
Do not attempt to remove the assemblies without a clear view, as damage to the connectors,
screws or refractory may occur.

Replacement of Condensate Pipe
Preparing the Unit for Servicing
1. Remove call(s) for heat.
2. Remove power to the unit at a wall switch or a breaker.
3. Shut off gas supply to the boiler.
4. Allow the boiler to cool down.
Do not drain the boiler unless freezing conditions are expected during this procedure.
5. Remove the front cover, and then remove the four Torx 20 screws on the top panel of the combi boiler.
Removing and Replacing the CXCondensate Pipe Assembly
1. Pull back the clip to release the condensate
trap, and pull the trap downwards to
remove, and retain the trap.
2. Remove the two screws (A) securing the condensate trap bracket (B) to the base panel.
3. Release tension on both hose clamps.
One hose clamp (C) secures the
EPDM tube to the heat exchanger
condensate pan drain and one hose
clamp (D) secures the EPDM tube to
the PP-R pipe.
4. Pull the PP-R pipe (E) out from the condensate trap opening.

5. Remove the EPDM tube (F) and clamps (C
& D) and the condensate trap bracket (B)
and seal (G).
6. Install the replacement condensate pipe
components in reverse order. Ensure that
clamps are secure but not overtightened.
7. Fill the condensate trap to the top with water.
8. Slide the trap over the heat exchanger drain
outlet, making sure it is secured by the clip,
and tighten the upper union nut to ensure
an airtight seal.
Start-Up
1. Turn on the electric power and gas supply to the combi boiler.
2. Restore the call(s) for heat.
3. With the combi boiler operating, check for leaks.
4. Replace the front cover, and install the four Torx 20 screws on the top panel of the combi boiler.
