TheHiPAP352PisaportablesystemdesignedfortrackingROV’s,towsh,diversand
othersubseaobjectsatseveralthousandmetresrange.
TheHiPAP352Psystemscalculatestheaccuratepositionsofsubseaobjectssuchas
RemotelyOperatedVehicles(ROVs),AutonomousUnderwaterVehicles(AUV’s),
towedbodiesorxedseabedtransponders.
ThesystemofferstheuserawiderangeoftransponderchannelsandcNODEtransponder
modelsfordepthsratingdownto11000metres.
HiPAPPortableisavailableinseveralmodelswithrespecttomotionandheading
sensors.Calibrationofrollandpitchalignmentsarenotnecessaryonthesemodels,
butitmightbenecessarytocalibrateforalignmentwiththevessels’gyrocompass.
Thetransducersaredesignedtobemountedonashaftforinstallationover-the-sideor
throughamoon-poolofavessel.
HiPAP352P-Hhasamotionsensorforrollandpitchcompensation,andnoheading
information.HiPAP352P-5alsohasarollandpitchmotionsensor,withnoheading
informationandabetteraccuracy.

Thetransducerconvertstheelectricenergygeneratedbythetransmittercircuitryto
physicalvibrations.Thesevibrationsalterthewaterpressure,andcreateanacoustic
pulsethatissentintothewater.
Thetransducerintegrates
thetransmitterand
receiveracoustic
elements,andelectronics
inoneunit.Theunitalso
includesamotionsensor
andanoptionalheading
sensor.
Thetransducerhasan
operationalcoverage
of±90°whilethemain
coverageis±60°.
Caution
Thetransducershould
NOTbeleftwithpoweronformorethanonehourinair.Itneedstobedeployedin
waterforpropercooling.
Itshouldalsobeprotectedagainstdirectsunlightwhenplacedondeck.

GeneralsupplyconditionsapplytothisHiPAP352Pdelivery.
Receipt,unpackingandstorage
Uponacceptingshipmentoftheequipment,theshipyardand/orthedealermustensure
thatthedeliveryiscompleteandinspecteachshippingcontainerforevidenceofphysical
damage.
Iftheinspectionrevealsanyindicationofcrushing,dropping,immersioninwateror
anyotherformofdamage,therecipientshouldrequestthatarepresentativefromthe
companyusedtotransporttheequipmentbepresentduringunpacking.
Allequipmentmustbeinspectedforphysicaldamage,i.e.brokencontrolsandindicators,
dents,scratchesetc.duringunpacking.Ifanydamagetotheequipmentisdiscovered,the
recipientmustnotifyboththetransportationcompanyandKongsbergMaritimesothat
KongsbergMaritimecanarrangeforreplacementorrepairofthedamagedequipment.
Onceunpacked,theequipmentmustbestoredinacontrolledenvironmentwithan
atmospherefreeofcorrosiveagents,excessivehumidityortemperatureextremes.
Theequipmentmustbecoveredtoprotectitfromdustandotherformsofcontamination
whenstored.
Equipmentresponsibility
Unlessotherwisestatedinthecontract,theshipyarddoingtheinstallationand/or
equipmentdealerbecomesfullyresponsiblefortheequipmentuponreceipt.
Thedurationofresponsibilitycover:
•Theperiodoftimetheequipmentisstoredlocallybeforeinstallation
•Theentireinstallationprocess
•Commissioning
•Theperiodoftimebetweencommissioningandthenalacceptanceoftheequipment
bytheenduserorowner
Unlessotherarrangementshavebeenmadeinthecontract,theKongsbergHiPAP352P
warrantyperiod(asspeciedinthecontract)beginswhentheacceptancedocuments
havebeensigned.

Thecablingmustbedonebeforeinstallingthetransducer.
Context
Thetransducerismountedontheship’sarrangementforthetransducer.Thismaybeon
apoleloweredthroughamoonpoolorahullunit.
Thelocationofthetransducerarrangementmustbeasfarawayaspossiblefrom
thrusters,aeratedwater,noisesourcesorotherequipmentsensitivetoacousticnoisein
thewater.

1Mountthetransducerwiththeforwardindicatorpointingforward.
2Fastenthestudbolts.
Installingtherepeaterunit
Thetransducercablesshouldbeconnectedbeforemountingtherepeaterunit.
Prerequisites
Mounttherepeaterunittomakesureitisnothangingbythecable.Therearestudbolts
formountingatthetopandthebottomoftheunit.
Procedure
1Mounttheunitwiththearrowpointingupwards.
2Fastenthebolts.
InstallingtheResponderDriverUnit
TheResponderDriverUnitprovidesrespondertriggersignalstoresponders.TheRDU
isastand-aloneunitandcanbemountedhorizontallyorvertically.
Prerequisites
Theunitshouldbelocatedwhereitismostsuitableforconnectingthecablestothe
responders.ThiscanbeclosetotheRemoteOperatingVehicle(ROV)operationroom.
Theunitmustbeinstalledsoitiseasilyaccessibleforoperatorstochecktheworking
conditionoftherespondertriggerstatusdiodes.

2Liftoffthelidandseethefourmountingholes,oneineachcorner.
3Mounttheresponderdriverunitwheresuitable.
Themountingscrewswithnutsandwashersaredeliveredwiththeunit.
4Closetheunit.
Convertingfrombreopticaltoelectrical
signal
Theconverterworksbothwaysandcanbeusedtocreateanopticalisolationbetween
highvoltageequipmentandatransceiver.
