aremountedonapoleforinstallationover-the-sideorthroughaship’smoonpool.The
systemiseasytoinstallonshipsorothersurfaceunitsandcomeswithawiderangeof
transponderchannelsandcNODE®transpondermodelsfordepthsdownto4000metres.

Thetransducer’scasingismadeofstainlesssteelandbronzeinordertoobtainoptimal
anti-corrosionproperties.Thecasingenclosesandprotectstheelectronicsandthe
acoustictransducerelementsneededfortransmittingandreceivingacousticsignals,as
wellastherollandpitchmotionsensorandthepowersupply.Aframettedtothe
casingprotectsthelowerredpartofthetransduceranditsunderside,orface,from
accidentaldamage.Theframealsofunctionsasastandandsupportsthetransducerwhen
itisplacedondeckoronanyotherlevelsurface.Thetransducerhasmountingbrackets
foreasymountingonapoleandcanbetiltedsidewaysifneededduringoperations.
Thetransducerisdeliveredinasturdytransportcase.
Note
Caremustbetakentoavoidaccidentaldamagetothetransducer’ slowerredpartandits
underside,orface.Thetransducermustnotbeplacedindirectsunlightwhenstored
ondeck.

responders.
TheResponderDriverUnitisastand-aloneunit.The
ResponderDriverUnitisconnectedtotheinterfaceunit.
APOScontrolsandactivatesthedesignateddrivepriorto
receptionofthesync/timingsignalfromthetransceiver.
Repeaterunit(optional)
Arepeaterunitisneededtoamplifythesignalsifthelengthofthetransducercable

GeneralsupplyconditionsapplytothisµPAPdelivery.
Receipt,unpackingandstorage
Uponacceptingshipmentoftheequipment,theshipyardand/orthedealermustensure
thatthedeliveryiscompleteandinspecteachshippingcontainerforevidenceofphysical
damage.
Iftheinspectionrevealsanyindicationofcrushing,dropping,immersioninwateror
anyotherformofdamage,therecipientshouldrequestthatarepresentativefromthe
companyusedtotransporttheequipmentbepresentduringunpacking.
Allequipmentmustbeinspectedforphysicaldamage,i.e.brokencontrolsandindicators,
dents,scratchesetc.duringunpacking.Ifanydamagetotheequipmentisdiscovered,the
recipientmustnotifyboththetransportationcompanyandKongsbergMaritimesothat
KongsbergMaritimecanarrangeforreplacementorrepairofthedamagedequipment.
Onceunpacked,theequipmentmustbestoredinacontrolledenvironmentwithan
atmospherefreeofcorrosiveagents,excessivehumidityortemperatureextremes.
Theequipmentmustbecoveredtoprotectitfromdustandotherformsofcontamination
whenstored.
Equipmentresponsibility
Unlessotherwisestatedinthecontract,theshipyarddoingtheinstallationand/or
equipmentdealerbecomesfullyresponsiblefortheequipmentuponreceipt.
Thedurationofresponsibilitycover:
•Theperiodoftimetheequipmentisstoredlocallybeforeinstallation
•Theentireinstallationprocess
•Commissioning
•Theperiodoftimebetweencommissioningandthenalacceptanceoftheequipment
bytheenduserorowner
Unlessotherarrangementshavebeenmadeinthecontract,theKongsbergµPAP
warrantyperiod(asspeciedinthecontract)beginswhentheacceptancedocuments
havebeensigned.

Thelocationofthetransducerarrangementmustbeasfarawayaspossiblefrom
thrusters,aeratedwater,noisesourcesorotherequipmentsensitivetoacousticnoisein

Prerequisites
Mounttherepeaterunittomakesureitisnothangingbythecable.Therearestudbolts
formountingatthetopandthebottomoftheunit.
Procedure
1Mounttheunitwiththearrowpointingupwards.
2Fastenthebolts.
InstallingtheResponderDriverUnit
(optional)
TheResponderDriverUnitisastand-aloneunitandcanbemountedeitherhorizontally
orvertically.
Prerequisites
Theunitshouldbelocatedwhereitismostsuitableforconnectingthecablestothe
responders.ThiscanbeclosetotheRemoteOperatingVehicle(ROV)operationroom.
Theunitmustbeinstalledsoitiseasilyaccessibleforoperatorstochecktheworking
conditionoftherespondertriggerstatusdiodes.
Procedure
1Removethefourscrewssecuringthelid.
2Liftoffthelidandlocatethefourmountingholes,oneineachcorner.
3Mounttheresponderdriverunitwheresuitable.
Mountingscrews,nutsandwashersareincluded.
4Closetheunit.
Note
Keeptheprotectingcapsonthebre-opticconnectorstoavoidaccidentaldamage
andcontaminationwhennotinuse.

highvoltageequipmentandatransceiver.
