Introduction
This RV entry door comes completely assembled with door lock, standard push down screen knob, standard
raised kick panel and standard soft screen door corners. Snap trim and drip cap are sold separately. Required
mounting fasteners are not included.

Resources Required

• Appropriate drive bits

• Caulk gun
• Gunnable sealant
• Putty tape or closed cell PVC foam tape
• #8 Screws (quantity depends on size of the door) - length must be long enough to penetrate sidewall framing.
• #12 Screws - length must be long enough to penetrate sidewall framing. (For motorized unit entry door only.)
NOTE: For wood frame construction, do not use self-tapping screws.

1. Verify size of door opening is correct. Door "call" size is
the required rough opening size. The actual door size will
be undersized by ½" in width and height. (i.e. 26" x 72"
door requires an opening of 26" x 72" but the actual door
size will be 25 ½" x 71 ½").
NOTE: The rough opening size tolerance is +/- ⁄" for width
and - ¼" on height. A rough opening of +/- ⁄" for
the width is a Fail; +/- ¼" or over for the width is a
Critical Fail. On Motorized door rough opening width,
¼" can be added.
NOTE: The opening squareness measured corner to corner is
+/- ⁄". Squareness measured +/-⁄ is a Fail; over ¼"
is a Critical Fail.
2. Install sealant tape around back side of the screw track
frame. Lippert recommends using putty tape or closed
cell PVC foam tape.
NOTE: Excessive putty tape or foam tape in the plunger
opening may restrict full engagement of the latching
mechanism.
3. Make sure that the door is sealed along the bottom,
either on the lip of the opening or the edge of the floor.
NOTE: The deadbolt should be disengaged at this point.
4. Set the door in the wall opening, so that the bottom edge
sets flat on the floor and the hinge side is flush against
the opening.
NOTE: If the door is offset to the latch side, the plunger may
hit the side wall framing and not engage completely.
5. Install a #8 screw in the hole nearest the bottom hinge
(Fig. 1A) and another #8 screw in the hole near the

Steps 1-10 of the installation must be performed with the door assembly in the closed position. Step 11
must be performed with the door assembly in the open position.
NOTE: The door is shipped with a jig (Fig. 2A) holding the doors together to prevent deformity. Leave the
jig in place until step 10 of the instructions.
NOTE: Spacer blocks come installed in the door assembly to hold and properly space the door in the frame.

bottom of the latch side (Fig. 1B).
6. Install a #8 screw in the hole near top hinge (Fig. 1C).
7. Make sure door sets evenly in the frame and that the frame on the latch side maintains a ⁄" gap. Next,
install a #8 screw into a hole near the top of the door on the latch side (Fig. 1D).

8. Install the next four #8 screws in alphabetical order (Fig. 1E-1H).
9. Install #8 screws in remaining pre-drilled holes on the door frame.
NOTE: Each pre-drilled hole in the outer frame should be filled. Do not use additional screws.
NOTE: Screws must be installed straight on the latch side of the door. Screws installed at an angle will
cause the door frame to twist and may prevent the door from opening properly. This can also result
in latch damage.
NOTE: On stick and tin units, install screws at the ridges of the siding metal first, then valleys.
10. Install snap trim (Fig. 2A). Snap trim is installed from the outside in. Match the long leg of the snap trim
to the long leg of the door frame.
11. Remove the jig (Fig. 3A) holding the screen and entry doors together.
12. Remove the spacer blocks on the entry door after the door is installed.
NOTE: There is a spacer block (Fig. 4A) on the very bottom of the door.

NOTE: Doors on motorized RVs have a subframe to handle the additional hinge and latch load
requirements.
NOTE: For doors with friction hinges or struts, be sure to read those sections later in this manual.
1. With entry door open, install the subframe (Fig. 5A) and secure with four #12 screws (Fig. 5B).
2. Install the latch (Fig. 5C) and secure with two screws (Fig. D)
3. Install one #12 screw in each hinge on the third leaf (Fig. 6A). There are four hinges per door. Screw
length must be long enough to penetrate sidewall framing.
NOTE: Figure 5 is the catch of the door, Figure 6 shows the hinges. The hinge leaves attached to the door
are hidden for clarity. Entry door and screen door are also hidden for clarity.

NOTE: After installing the door, minor adjustment of the screen door may be necessary to achieve proper
operation.
