Introduction
The Vela Pop-up Roof is a manually operated, van roof-mounted sleeper. The Pop-up Roof has a solid roof
with a canvas body that includes:
• a double bed,
• screened windows,
• hot or cold air circulation,
• ceiling courtesy lights,
• special storage shelving molded into the thermoformed lower section,
• pre-installations for LED lights,
• two flexible lamps with USB ports,
• a power socket and/or USB module,
• and the capability to top-mount a porthole or solar panel.

Always wear eye protection when performing service, maintenance or installation procedures.
Other safety equipment to consider would be hearing protection, gloves and possibly a full face
shield, depending on the nature of the task.

Make sure unit is fully supported and secured per manufacturer's recommendations before working
on or underneath the unit or death, serious personal injury and/or severe product and property

Moving parts can pinch, crush or cut. Keep clear and use caution.
Safety
Read and understand all instructions before installing or operating this product. Adhere to all safety labels.
This manual provides general instructions. Many variables can change the circumstances of the instructions,
i.e., the degree of difficulty, operation and ability of the individual performing the instructions. This
manual cannot begin to plot out instructions for every possibility, but provides the general instructions,
as necessary, for effectively interfacing with the device, product or system. Failure to correctly follow the
provided instructions may result in death, serious personal injury, severe product and/or property damage,
including voiding of the LCI limited warranty.
Do NOT exceed the product's maximum speed limit of 80 mph (130 km/h).
Do NOT drive with the pop-up roof system opened or product damage may occur.
Do NOT drive with people or pets inside the pop-up roof system's sleeping area or personal injury
may occur.
Do NOT open pop-up roof if wind speeds exceed 25mph. Opening the pop-up roof in wind speeds
greater than 25 MPH could result in damage to the pop-up roof system.

Operation

1. Open the Pop-up Roof as follows:
A. From inside the camper van, release the clips on the two safety belts (Fig. 1A) by pressing on both
sides of the clip (Fig. 1B). The upper portion of the pop-up will move freely (Fig. 1C).

B. Attach the ladder supplied to the specific hooks (Fig. 2).
I. Climb the ladder to reach the release button (Fig. 3A).
Preparation
1. Make sure camper van is level.
2. Make sure camper van is properly supported and secured.
A. Engage brakes.
B. Chock all tires.
C. Make sure wind speeds do not exceed 25mph, if so the pop-up MUST remain in the closed
position or damage could occur.
Do NOT open pop-up roof if wind speeds exceed 25mph. Opening the pop-up roof in wind speeds
greater than 25 MPH could result in damage to the pop-up roof system.

II. Grab the handle with one hand (Fig. 4A), then at the same time press the release button
(Fig.4B) and push the handle upwards.
C. After unlocking the roof, grab both handles (Fig. 4A) and push the roof upwards.

2. Brightness inside the sleeping area can be adjusted by means of two flexible lamps (Fig. 5) located on
the lower part of the pop-up.
A. The flexible lamps are controlled by pressing an integrated on/off switch (Fig. 6A) providing two
intensity levels.
B. Each flexible lamp contains a 5V DC, 2A USB port (Fig. 7A).

3. Located at the interior of the entrance frame, there is at least one module with two 5V DC USB
ports(Fig. 8).
Note: Various kinds of electronic devices can be recharged and used, if they meet the provided current
limits and voltages.

4. Windows— with mosquito nets—positioned along the perimeter of the pop-up roof (Fig. 9) can be
opened to further ventilate the sleeping area.

A. To open the windows of the pop-up roof for better ventilation, open the zipper (Fig. 10).
B. Roll down the window covering towards the base of the window (Fig. 9A).
C. Fasten the covering in-place with the straps located at the base (Fig. 11).

D. Closing all pop-up widows protects against cold and rain (Fig. 12).

E. Opening all pop-up windows improves ventilation against heat build-up and helps to refresh the
sleeping area (Fig. 13).

5. The Vela Pop-up Roof System comes equipped with a 51" x 78" (1300 mm x 2000 mm) double
bed (Fig. 14).

A. To reach the bed, attach the supplied ladder to the two hooks (Fig. 15).
B. Climb the ladder to the bed, sit on the surface of the sleeping area, then rotate your torso.

Closing the Pop-up Roof System
To close the pop-up, do as follows:
1. Attach the supplied ladder on the hooks (Fig. 15).
2. Climb the ladder to inspect the pop-up roof to make sure the windows are properly closed (Fig. 16). If
necessary, zip the windows closed (Fig. 17).

3. After making sure all windows are closed, grip both roof handles (Fig. 18) and pull down as evenly as
possible. Do NOT completely close the pop-up roof at this point.
4. Make sure that the canvas is folded correctly inside to prevent jamming of the built-in mechanism or
the locking latch.
5. Walk around the vehicle and visually inspect the pop-up roof for any canvas material sticking out of
the frame. If necessary, carefully tuck in any protruding material.
6. From inside the vehicle, continue to lower the roof until it is completely closed.
Note: A clicking sound should be heard, signifying the locking system has engaged.

7. To make sure the pop-up's locking system has been engaged, perform the following:
A. Grab the handles on the roof with both hands and push upwards.
B. If the upward pressure on the roof does not change its position significantly on both sides, then
the locking system is properly engaged.
C. If the roof changes position, the locking system is not properly engaged. Repeat steps 4-6, then
check the locking system again for proper engagement.
8. Clip the safety belts (Fig. 19) closed to secure the roof.

9. Inspect the outside of the Pop-up Roof System to make sure it has completely closed (Fig. 20).

10. After the Pop-up Roof System has been fully closed, the camper van may be driven.
Do NOT exceed the product's maximum speed limit of 80 mph (130 km/h).
Do NOT drive with the pop-up roof system opened or product damage may occur.
Do NOT drive with people or pets inside the pop-up roof system's sleeping area or personal injury
may occur.

Troubleshooting
The following troubleshooting chart only covers basic operational concerns. If other concerns exist other
than what is listed in the troubleshooting chart, contact the Lippert Care Center at [phone].
A. If wheel chocks have been used, make sure they have been removed before driving.
B. If engaged, release brakes before driving.
C. Do NOT exceed the product's maximum speed limit of 80 mph (130 km/h).
