Safety Instructions
WARNING!
• DO NOT connect any tool weighing more than 5 Ibs (2.26 kg) to a person. Tools
weighing more than 5 Ibs (2.26 kg) must be connected to a suitable structure.
• DO NOT exceed the specified product load capacity rating. See product tables for load
ratings.
• Connect the carabiner on the end of the tether to a suitable attachment point.
• DO NOT tie knots in a tether.
• DO NOT hook the tether to itself.
• DO NOT connect carabiners to each other.
• Inspect the tether before each use in accordance with the inspection instructions.
• Always keep tools tethered at heights. Exchange tools over a secure area (e.g., inside
a controlled container, over a platform, etc.) or connect the tool to a secondary anchor
before disconnecting from the original anchor point.
• DO NOT alter this equipment or intentionally misuse it.
• DO NOT use fall arrest or rescue equipment in environments with temperatures greater
than 113°F (45°C) or temperatures lower than -31°F (-35°C).
• DO NOT use tool tether products adjacent to moving machinery, electrical hazards, or
in the presence of excessive heat, open flame or molten metal.
• DO NOT use tool tether products as part of a personal fall arrest or restraint system.
• Any tool tether product that has been subjected to fall arrest forces must be
immediately inspected for damage prior to continued use.
• DO NOT make a modification to a connected tool or product that will result in a
deviation from the manufacturer’s recommendation or specification.
• DO NOT make tool attachments in a manner that would allow the tool tether product to
be unintentionally disconnected.
• DO NOT use a tool tether product if it will interfere with the safe working condition, or
operation, of any personal fall protection product or system.
• DO NOT use a tool tether product if it will interfere with the safe working condition, or
operation, of the connected tool or equipment.
• Ensure the tool tether is kept free from any and all obstructions including, but not
limited to, entanglement with other workers, yourself, and surrounding objects.
• DO NOT wrap tool tether components around rough or sharp edges.
• All connected tools and equipment, including connection points, must be compatible
for use with tool tether products, and properly maintained and inspected in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Ensure proper tool drop clearance. Tool drop clearance is defined as:
Tool Tether Maximum Length + Tool Length + 1 ft (0.3 m) Safety Factor.
• DO NOT modify a tool or primary anchoring location that could result in manufacturer
guideline deviation.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.

• DO NOT attach tool tether products to straight-shafted or tapered tools, unless in accordance
with the Taping Instructions included in this manual.
• DO NOT connect multiple tool tethers together.
• DO NOT use tool tether products to hoist taglines or other objects or to statically suspend
tools and equipment.
• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when installing or using tool tether
products.
• If PPE is resold, it is essential that instructions for use, maintenance, and periodic
examination are provided in the language of destination.
• DO NOT use MSA tool tether products if under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.
Warranty
Express Warranty
MSA warrants that the product furnished is free from mechanical defects or faulty workmanship for
a period of one (1) year from first use or eighteen (18) months from date of shipment, whichever
occurs first, provided it is maintained and used in accordance with MSA’s instructions and/or
recommendations. Replacement parts and repairs are warranted for ninety (90) days from the
date of repair of the product or sale of the replacement part, whichever occurs first. MSA shall be
released from all obligations under this warranty in the event repairs or modifications are made by
persons other than its own authorized service personnel or if the warranty claim results from misuse
of the product. No agent, employee or representative of MSA may bind MSA to any affirmation,
representation or modification of the warranty concerning the goods sold under this contract. MSA
makes no warranty concerning components or accessories not manufactured by MSA, but will pass
on to the Purchaser all warranties of manufacturers of such components. This warranty is in lieu
of all other warranties, express, implied or statutory, and is strictly limited to the terms hereof. MSA
specifically disclaims any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Exclusive Remedy
It is expressly agreed that the Purchaser’s sole and exclusive remedy for breach of the above
warranty, for any tortious conduct of MSA, or for any other cause of action, shall be the repair
and/or replacement, at MSA’s option, of any equipment or parts thereof, that after examination
by MSA are proven to be defective. Replacement equipment and/or parts will be provided at
no cost to the Purchaser, F.O.B. Purchaser’s named place of destination. Failure of MSA to
successfully repair any nonconforming product shall not cause the remedy established hereby to
fail of its essential purpose.
Exclusion of Consequential Damages
Purchaser specifically understands and agrees that under no circumstances will MSA be liable
to Purchaser for economic, special, incidental, or consequential damages or losses of any kind
whatsoever, including but not limited to, loss of anticipated profits and any other loss caused by
reason of the non-operation of the goods. This exclusion is applicable to claims for breach of
warranty, tortious conduct or any other cause of action against MSA.

Inspection
• Tool tether products must be thoroughly inspected by a competent1person before each use.
• Tool tether products with deformities, unusual wear or deterioration must be immediately
removed from service and replaced.
• Inspect all material, stitching, hardware, D-rings, carabiners, side release buckles and other
connectors for damage or wear that may affect proper use of the tool tether.
• Ensure carabiners, side release buckles and other connectors operate properly.
• If a tool is dropped, inspect the tool tether and connector for damage. Any damaged Tool
Tether must be immediately removed from service and replaced.
• If a tool tether product has been taped to a tool using the Taping Instructions included in this
manual, the tape must be thoroughly inspected by a Competent1person before each use.
Tape showing signs of wear or deterioration must immediately be removed and replaced.
1 Competent person: A person, other than the User, competent in the examination of PPE in accordance
with MSA instructions.
Use
Use Tool Tether Wristband Product
1. Attach the carabiner to the attachment point of a tool and ensure the carabiner is locked.
(Figure 1)
2. Insert hand through wristband and secure using the strap. (Figure 2)
Use Single Carabiner Products
1. Thread the tether loop through the attachment point of a tool. (Figure 3)
If using a Carabiner Detachable Loop and there is no attachment point on the tool, see the
Taping Instructions included in this manual.
2. Guide the opposite end of the tether including the carabiner through the tether loop. (Figure 4)
3. Pull tight to secure the loop around the tool. If using a tether with an adjustable loop, adjust
the slide lock to snugly secure the loop around the tool. (Figure 5)
4. Attach the carabiner at the opposite end of the tool tether to a suitable attachment and
ensure the carabiner is locked.
5. If using a Tool Tether Carabiner Detachable Loop, the loop end of the tether can be detached
by unhooking the two ends of the side release buckle. (Figure 6)
Use Double Carabiner Products
1. Attach a carabiner on one end of the tool tether to the attachment point of a tool and ensure
the carabiner is locked. (Figure 1)
2. Attach the carabiner at the opposite end of the tool tether to a suitable attachment point and
ensure the carabiner is locked.

Taping Instructions
WARNING!
• Always use the attachment point on the tool to secure the tool if one exists. Secure per the
Use Instructions included in this manual. Only use the alternative of taping the tool to the tool
tether if no attachment point is available.
• Use only the specified tape.
• Do not secure tools to Tool Tether Wristband, Carabiner Adjustable Loop, Carabiner Loop, or
Tool Tether Double Carabiner products using Tool Tether Tape. These products should only
be attached to tools with an attachment point.
• Tool Tether Tape must be replaced for any tool tether product that is taped to a tool and has
been subjected to fall arrest forces.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.

If there is no attachment point on the tool, the loop end of a Detachable Loop (for tools 5 lbs and
under) can be securely wrapped around and taped to the tool using Tool Tether Tape
(P/N 1020138).
1. Measure the diameter of the tool shaft. Use the tool weight and shaft diameter in the following
table to determine the appropriate tool tether and length of tape piece needed.
2. Place the handle of the tool on top of the
loop on the loop end of the tether (web
end side down).
3. Guide the opposite end of the tether
including the side release buckle
through the loop.
4. Pull tight and adjust the slide lock to
snugly secure the loop around the tool.

5. Place the tether along the handle of
the tool, making sure the web end is
facing up.
6. Place the tape on top of the tether just
below the web end and tightly wrap
once around the tool to secure the
tether.
7. Continue wrapping by pulling and
stretching the tape tightly around the
tool, overlapping each time by at least
half an inch.
8. Firmly press the end of the tape to the
wrapped tether to seal.
9. Connect to a suitable connector and pull to ensure the tether is secure.
If using a Tool Tether Detachable Loop, connect the hook end of the side release buckle to
the insertion end of the buckle on a Tool Tether Carabiner Detachable Loop.

Garantie
Garantie expresse
MSA garantit que ce produit est libre de défauts mécaniques et de main-d'œuvre pendant une période
d’un (1) an à compter de sa première utilisation ou dix-huit (18) mois à compter de la date d’expédition,
selon la première éventualité, à condition qu’il soit entretenu et utilisé en conformité avec les directives et/
ou recommandations de MSA. Les pièces de rechange et les réparations sont garanties pendant quatre-
vingt-dix (90) jours à compter de la date de réparation du produit ou de la vente de la pièce de rechange,
selon la première éventualité. MSA est dégagée de toutes les obligations prévues par cette garantie en
cas de réparations ou de modifications effectuées par des personnes autres que le personnel d’entretien
autorisé, ou son propre personnel, ou si le cas de garantie est dû à une mauvaise utilisation du produit. Aucun
agent, employé ou représentant de MSA ne peut lier MSA à une quelconque affirmation, représentation ou
modification de la garantie concernant les biens vendus en vertu de ce contrat. MSA n’accorde pas de garantie
sur les composants ou les accessoires non fabriqués par MSA, mais transmettra à l’acheteur toutes les
garanties des fabricants de ces composants. Cette garantie remplace toutes les autres garanties expresses,
implicites ou statutaires, et se limite strictement aux conditions de ce contrat. MSA se dégage notamment de

Recours exclusif
Il est expressément convenu que le seul et unique recours de l’acheteur, en cas d’inobservation de la
garantie ci-dessus, en cas de conduite délictueuse de MSA ou pour tout autre motif d’action, prendra la
forme d’une réparation et/ou du remplacement, au choix de MSA, de l’équipement ou de ses pièces dont
la preuve de défectuosité aura été apportée après examen par MSA. L’équipement et/ou les pièces de
remplacement seront fournis gratuitement à l’acheteur, F.O.B. Lieu de destination convenu avec l’acheteur.
L’incapacité de MSA à mener à bien la réparation d’un produit non conforme ne saurait être associée à un
non-accomplissement de l’objectif premier du recours en question.
Exclusion des dommages indirects
L'Acheteur comprend et accepte expressément qu'en aucun cas le MSA ne sera tenu responsable envers
l'Acheteur d'éventuels préjudices économiques, spéciaux, indirects ou de pertes de quelque sorte que ce
soit, y compris mais sans exclure d'autres motifs, la perte de bénéfices escomptés et toute autre perte
causée par le non-fonctionnement des biens. Cette exclusion s’applique aux demandes d’indemnisation
pour rupture de garantie, pour conduite délictueuse ou pour tout autre motif d’action dirigé contre MSA.

Inspection
• Les longes pour outils doivent être inspectés méticuleusement par une personne compétente1avant
chaque utilisation.
• Les longes pour outils qui présentes des malformations, de l’usure inhabituelle ou de la détérioration
doivent être immédiatement mises hors service puis remplacées.
• Inspecter tout le matériel, les coutures, la quincaillerie, les anneaux en D, les mousquetons, les
boucles de dégagement latérales et les autres raccords pour la présence de dommages ou d’usure qui
pourraient affecter l’utilisation appropriée de la longe pour outils.
• S’assurer que les mousquetons, les boucles de dégagement latérales et autres raccords fonctionnent
correctement.
• Si un outil est échappé, inspecter la longe pour outils et le raccord pour la présence de dommages.
Toute longe pour outils endommagée doit être immédiatement mise hors service, puis remplacée.
• Si une longe pour outils a été fixée avec du ruban à un outil en utilisant les Directives de rubanage
incluses dans le présent manuel, le ruban doit être minutieusement inspecté par une personne
compétente1 avant chaque utilisation. Le ruban présentant des signes d’usure ou de détérioration doit
immédiatement enlevé, puis remplacé.
1 Personne compétente : Une personne, autre que l’utilisateur, qui possède les compétences pour l’examen
de l’EPI conformément aux instructions de MSA.
Utilisation
Utilisation du bracelet pour longe pour outils
1. Fixer le mousqueton au point de fixation d’un outil, puis s’assurer que le mousqueton est verrouillé.
(Figure 1)
2. Insérer la main dans le bracelet, puis retenir en place en utilisant la courroie. (Figure 2)
Utilisation des mousquetons simples
1. Enfiler la boucle de la longe dans le point de fixation d’un outil. (Figure 3)
Si une boucle de mousqueton détachable est utilisée et qu’il n’y a pas de point de fixation sur l’outil,
consulter les Directives sur le rubanage incluses dans le présent manuel.
2. Guider l’extrémité opposée de la longe incluant le mousqueton à travers la boucle de la longe. (Figure 4)
3. Serrer en tirant pour sécuriser la boucle autour de l’outil. Si une longe avec une boucle ajustable est
utilisée, ajuster le verrou à glissière pour bien sécuriser la boucle autour de l’outil. (Figure 5)
4. Fixer le mousqueton à l’extrémité opposée de la longe pour outils à une fixation appropriée, puis
s’assurer que le mousqueton est verrouillé.
5. Si une boucle de mousqueton détachable pour longe pour outils est utilisée, l’extrémité à boucle de
la longe peut être détachée en décrochant les deux extrémités de la boucle de dégagement latérale.

Utilisation des mousquetons doubles
1. Fixer un mousqueton à l’une des extrémités de la longe pour outils au point de fixation d’un outil, puis
s’assurer que le mousqueton est verrouillé. (Figure 1)
2. Fixer le mousqueton à l’extrémité opposée de la longe pour outils à un point de fixation approprié, puis
s’assurer que le mousqueton est verrouillé.

Directives de rubanage
AVERTISSEMENT!
• Toujours utiliser le point de fixation sur l’outil pour sécuriser l’outil si un tel point est présent. Sécuriser
conformément aux Directives d’utilisation incluses dans le présent manuel. Utiliser uniquement
l’alternative de fixer l’outil à la longe pour outils avec du ruban si aucun point de fixation n’est disponible.
• Utiliser uniquement le ruban spécifié.
• Ne pas sécuriser les outils au bracelet pour longe pour outils, à la boucle ajustable de mousqueton, à
la boucle de mousqueton ou à un mousqueton double pour longe pour outils en utilisant du ruban pour
longe pour outils. Ces produits doivent être uniquement fixés à des outils avec un point de fixation.
