2. PRECAUTIONS
2-1 Cautions When Installing
This game is designed for indoor use only. The game must not be installed out-
doors or under the following conditions:
a. In areas directly exposed to sunlight, high humidity, direct water contact, dust,
high heat or extreme cold.
b. In locations that would present an obstacle in case of emergency, i.e. near fire
equipment or emergency exits.
c. On an unstable surface or subject to floor or other vibration.

AC power must always be turned OFF, and the game unplugged, before replac-
ing any parts or connecting/disconnecting connectors.
When unplugging the game from an electrical outlet, always grasp the plug, not
the cord.
Do not subject game to physical shock when transporting or moving it.
The power supply range is between 1 IO-120VAC, (switchable to 220 VAC).
The cabinet must bc grounded with a securely connected ground plug.
Care must be taken at all times to avoid electrical shock whenever inspecting or
adjusting the game, particularly around the monitors.
Always return the levelers to the extreme “up” position before moving the game,
and separate the game into its two assemblies - cabinet and seat.
Adjustment is required whenever the game PC board, ROM, joystick or potenti-
ometers are changed. (Ref. Section 5-5)
DO NOT attempt to repair the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). It contains sensitive
chips that could easily be damaged by even the small internal voltage of a multi-
meter. Always return the PCB to your distributor for any repairs.
3. INSPECTION
NOTE: The Seat Assemblies and Control Panels are shipped separately (to allows
the Monitor Cabinet to tit through a standard 36” wide door) and must be installed
on the Monitor Cabinet by the operator as described in Sections 4-1 and 4-2.
The three (3) CYBERSLEDTM Game cartons should be carefully inspected upon receipt
to insure that the game is complete and was delivered in good condition.
Inspect the game cabinet by doing the following:
1. Examine the cabinet exterior for dents, chips, or broken parts.
2. Unlock and open the rear service door and the front coin door.
Inspect the interior of the cabinet as follows:

Verify that all plug-in connectors (on the cabinet harnesses) are firmly plugged
in. DO NOT force connectors together. The connectors are keyed so they fit
only in the proper orientation. A reversed edge connector can damage a PCB
and will void your warranty.
Inspect the power cord to insure that there are no cuts or dents in the insulation.
Inspect the power supply connectors.
Inspect other major sub-assemblies, such as the video display monitors, PCB,
and speakers. Make sure that they are mounted securely and that all ground
wires are firmly connected.

NOTE: Installing the seats before the control panels eases the process of inslalling
the control panels.

Unpack and inspect the red and blue seat assemblies.
Wheel the seat assemblies up to the monitor cabinet. Connect the wire har-
ness connectors to the speaker harness.
Bolt the seat ‘I” brackets to the monitor using the fasteners provided.

linpack and inspect the control assemblies.
IMPORTANT: FIRST REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER FROM EACH
CONTROL PANEL.
Notice the two (2) hook brackets on the hack of each contwl panel. Thcsc
hooks allow you to place the control panels in position while installing the
controls.
Connect the control panel harness connectors to the monitor cabinet connec-
tors.
Using the hooks on the control panel. hang the control panel in place on the
cabinet slots. Be sure to press down firmly on the control panel to seat it all
the way down. Reinstall the plastic cover on the control panel.
Go around to the back of the Same and bolt the control panel in place from the
back using the four (4) bolts provided.
Initialize each joystick as described in Section 5S3-1

5. ADJUSTMENTS
5-l Power on
When installation is complete, connect the power cord to an AC outlet and turn
the power on. The Power on/off Switch is located on the bottom right hand side
of the game. NOTE: Each P/S is also equipped with a pushbutton power switch
which must also be turned on.
5-2 Adjustment Switches on the Service Panel
The Service Panel is located behind the coin door. It has controls for adjustment
of the speaker volume, and switches for accessing the test modes.

1. Test Switch
Turning this switch “ON” enters the Test Mode, and activates the Game
Option Screen on the monitor. This is where the self-tests ate performed, and
game variables (pricing, level of difficulty, potentiometer adjustment etc.) are
set/changed (Ref. 5-S-3). Turn the test switch to the “OFF” position at any
time to return to the Game Mode.
2. Audio Volume Controls
Volume adjustments are made separately for the speakers located in the
control panels and seats.
3. Service Switch
By pressing this switch, credits can be issued without advancing the coin
counter.

5-3 Test Mode
1. Self-test
The self test is performed automatically when power is turned on. If no errors
are encountered, the Game Screen is displayed on the monitor.
2. Test Mode
Open the coin door and set the test switch to ON. The Menu Screen appears
on the monitor displaying the various tests available. (See Illustration 5-2)

54 Initialization - Adjustments After Replacing Parts
Initialization is required whenever the game PCB, the joystick assembly and/or the
potentiometers are replaced.

Adjusting the Joystick Assembly (Initialization)
With the joystick centered, hold the Service Switch and turn the Test
Switch “ON”. The “VOLUME ADJUST” screen (below) will appear.
The joystick assembly is automatically initialized with this action.
Set the test switch to “OFF” to return to the Menu Screen again.

Select 1 “SWITCH TEST” to test the joysticks.
If:
a) “CENTER” appears when the joystick is set in the neutral position
and
b) “OK” appears when the joystick is pushed all the way down,
then
the joystick assembly is adjusted correctly.
If operation does not appear normal, minor adjustments can be made to the
joysticks by selecting “JOYSTICK ADJUST” on the Menu Screen (Ref.
Section S-3-2).

Initializing the Communication Numbers
When the communication numbers of the right and left game PCB are not set
correctly, communication does not function normally.

When the correct numbers are set for both the right and left side seats,

6. HOW TO PLAY
- CYBERSLEDTN is a game that allows one or two players to engage in a battle, firing
missiles and machine guns while driving futuristic tanks with joysticks.
* A single player can compete against the computer, while two players can compete
against each other.
l The tank and weapons controls operate as follows:

By pushing forward or pulling backward on botb joysticks at the same time, the player’s tank moves
in that direction.
.
By pulling ooe joystick in one direction, and the odw in the opposite direction, the player turns the
tank.

Depressing the thumb button on the joystick launches a missile. The number of missiles are limited
-
Squeezing the trigger fms the machine gun. Continuous round5 are fired as long as the bigger is
held closed, but if fued too long, the gun will overheat and stop firing. The gun will cool if the
uigger is releawd.

Three items can be picked up: “Missile supply
“, “Shield repair”, and “Special”. Tluee effects are
hidden in the “Special” item “Jam opponents radar’
‘, ‘Jam opponents missile tracking”, and
“Special shield”.
lThe Game is played as follows:

A player inserts a coin(s), and waits for an opponent. The waiting time for an opponent can be
shortened by pxssing/pulling tbe missile button/joystick trigger repeatedly as quickly as possible
while depressing the viewpoint change button.

If a second player inserts a coin(s) within the allowed time, a twwplayer game starts.
If not the one-
player game mode is activated
.
In the one-player mode, the player can select two kinds of courses, i.e. “training & practice
course” and “vs. the computer.” This is a timed match.
.
The goal of “vs. the computer” is to clear all stages of tbe game within the given time limit. The
player can tight for unlimited rounds within the given time limit

The “training course” consists of three stages, and it is provided for the beginner tin practice.
-
“Vs. Computer” consists of six stages. Every time the player defeats the enemy, extra time is
awarded..
-
In the two-player mode, the players can select Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced levels of play.

Tbe Beginner level is a training course. The player(s) can fight for unlimited rounds within the
given time period. In the Beginner level, the special items do not appear.
.
Both the Intermediate and Advanced level of games provide full-scale fighting stages. The players
can select the battlefield.
.
The Advanced level of a game allows the players to select the fighting environmental factors, i.e.
Night or Fog, by pressing the viewpoint change button when selecting the battlefield.
As these
environmental factors limit the functions of the radar, the game becomes more difficult to play.

A game consists of a match with three games. The frst player to win two games wins the match.

If the “Win Bonus” option is selected the winning player can continue his/her game

7-1 The Power Switches
CYBERSLED is equipped with two (2) Power Switches located at the rear
base of the Monitor Cabinet, one on each side. They are equipped with circuit
breakers that automatically turn the power off with excess current flow.
7-2 Replacing the Fluorescent Lamp (Marquee)
1. Remove the four (4) bolts securing the upper marquee bracket to the top of the
game cabinet.
2. Remove the upper bracket, and remove the marquee acrylic panel by sliding
up and out, exposing the two (2) 20W fluorescent lamps.
3. Remove the defective fluorescent lamp(s) from its holders by rotating the tube
and pulling outward.
4. Replace with a new 20 watt fluorescent lamp.
5. Replace marquee acrylic panel and marquee bracket.
7-3 Replacing the Revolving Attract Lamp Light Bulb
1. Remove the four (4) bolts (one on each comer) of the top pane1 cover, and
remove the panel.
2. Remove the two (2) screws securing the revolving light assembly bracket, and
remove the bracket.
3. Remove the screw securing the lamp case, and turn the case to remove it
4. Replace the defective light bulb with a new 12V, 1OW bulb.
7-4 Replacing the Game PC Board
CYBERSLED is equipped with two (2) Game PCB assemblies. This section
describes the procedure for removing the game PCBs on the left (BLUE SEAT)
side of the cabinet. The game PCBs for the right (RED SEAT) side are removed
in the same manner.
1. Remove the rear door.
2. Remove the two connectors. (One on the rear of the PCB Cage)
3. Remove the two (2) mounting screws securing the PCB cage to the cabinet,
and slide the cage out to remove.

Removing the Joystick Assembly
Remove the rear cover located at the back of the Monitor Cabinet.
Disconnect the four (two 12-position, one 6-position and one 4-position)
connectors which attach to the control panel box.
Remove the eight bolts securing the plastic panel cover and remove it.
Remove the seven (7) screws securing the control panel cover and remove
the control panel cover together with the lever assembly.
Remove the four (4) screws securing the joystick assembly to the control
panel cover and remove it.

7-5-2 Replacing the UP and DOWN Joystick Potentiometer
1. Remove the cord clip securing the joystick harness.
2. Turn the joystick assembly upside down, remove the four (4) flange sockets
and remove the under case.
3. Insert a phillips screwdriver into the hole located at the side of the joystick
assembly and remove the two (2) screws securing the potentiometer
mounting bracket and remove.
4. Replace the defective potentiometer with a new one.
5. Reassemble by reversing the above steps.
7-S-3 Replacing the RIGHT and LEFT Joystick Potentiometer
I. Remove the cord clip securing the joystick harness.
2. Turn the joystick assembly upside down, remove the four (4) flange sockets
and remove the under case.
3. Remove the two (2) screws securing the potentiometer bracket and remove it
4. Replace the defective potentiometer with a new one.
5. Reassemble by reversing the above steps.
6. When reassemblying, be sure to:
a) Connect the harness to the potentiometer so that no gap exists between
the potentiometer and the harness.
b) Fix the set screw of the spur gear to the direction of the potentiometer
connector on the potentiometer gear.
7-6 Removing the Control Panel Assembly
1. Remove the mar cover of the Monitor Cabinet.
2. Disconnect all connectors to the control panel.
3. Remove the four (4) assembling bolts.
4. Lift the control panel assembly, unhook it and pull it forward to remove
7-7 Removing the Monitor Bezel
1. Remove the rear cover of the Monitor Cabinet.
2. Loosen the four (4) assembling bolts securing the control panel to the cabinet,
but DO NOT REMOVE THEM.
3. Remove the four (4) assembling bolts securing the monitor bezel to the cabinet.
4. Lift the monitor bezel diagonally towards you to remove.

8. TROUBLESHOOTING -GENERAL
If you suspect the game may be malfunctioning, the following steps should be taken
before you make a service request.
(1) Inspect the fuses.
(2) The power supply should be set to either 110 or 220 Volts AC. However, when some
other equipment (air conditioner, multiple pinball games, air compressors, et.c.) are
connected to the same power supply, the voltage may change beyond this range and
cause game trouble or improper operation.
(3) When the game does not work with the power turned on, turn the power off, wait ten
seconds, then turn the power back on. This may restart the game. If it still does not
work, inspect the fuses.
(4) When the game PCB, the Joysticks, or the Potentiometers are replaced, it is necessary
to make initialization adjustments to play normal games. Make appropriate adjust-
ments referring to section 5-4.
(5) Check all wiring connections as malfunctions can be caused by loose connections
(6) Foreign substances or dust on the game PCB or on the monitor PCB may cause
malfunctions or improper operation. Check that the PCB enclosure is clean.
(7) When you make electrical checks, use the wiring diagrams for reference.
* If the above suggestions are not applicable, or no improvement is observed, con-
tact your distributor or the service office printed on the back cover of this manual.
* DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE GAME PCB YOURSELF. Instead,
please return the board to your distributor for any repairs. The PCB contains
sensitive chips that could be destroyed even by the internal voltage of a multi-
meter.
* When sending parts to be repaired, make sure to pack them firmly with a complete
explanation of the problem. When sending PCBs, package them in anti-static
foam or bubble wrap, and pack them in cardboard boxes to protect against impact
damage during shipment. To ship monitors, pack them in wooden frames so that
CRTs and PCBs are protected against excess load.
