中途半端に取り付けない
DCケーブルやインターフェースケーブルは確実に取り付けてください。中
途半端に取り付けると接触不良を起こし、発煙や発火の原因となるおそ
れがあります。
電源がONのまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず主電源に接続している電源コードをACコンセントから抜いてくだ
さい。電源コードがACコンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をすると感電をするおそれがあります。

箱を開けてから本装置が使えるようになるまでの手順を説明し
ます。このスタートアップガイドにしたがって作業してください。
本装置を安全に正しくご使用になるために必要な情報が記載されています。

本書にはどこが危険か、どのような危険に遭うのか、どうすれば危険を避けられるかなどについて説明されて

安全上のご注意
全般的な注意事項
人命に関わる業務や高度な信頼性を必要とする業務には使用しない
本製品は、医療機器・原子力設備や機器、航空宇宙機器・輸送設備や
機器など、人命に関わる設備や機器および高度な信頼性を必要とする
設備や機器などへの組み込みやこれらの機器の制御を目的とした使用
は意図されておりません。これらの設備や機器、制御システムなどに本
製品を使用した結果、人身事故、財産被害などが生じても弊社はいかな
る責任も負いかねます。
煙や異臭、異音がしたまま使用しない
万一、煙、異臭、異音などが生じた場合は、ただちに本体装置の電源を
OFFにして電源プラグをAC コンセントから抜き、本製品のDCケーブル
を抜いてください。その後、お買い求めの販売店または保守サービス会
社にご連絡ください。そのまま使用すると火災の原因となります。
製品内に水や異物を入れない
製品内に水などの液体、ピンやクリップなどの異物を入れないでくださ
い。火災や感電、故障の原因となります。もし入ってしまったときは、す
ぐに本体装置の電源をOFFにして電源プラグをACコンセントから抜き、
本製品のDCケーブルを抜いてください。分解しないでお買い求めの販
売店または保守サービス会社にご連絡ください。
設置・移動・保管・接続に関する注意事項
通気孔をふさがない
本製品の前面にある通気孔をふさがないでください。内部の温度が上昇
し、誤動作の原因となるばかりでなく、火災や感電の原因となります。
電源プラグを抜かずにインターフェースケーブルの取り付けや取り外し
をしない
インターフェースケーブルの取り付け／取り外しは本体装置の電源プラ
グをコンセントから抜いて行ってください。たとえ電源をOFFにしても電
源コードを接続したままケーブルやコネクタに触ると感電したり、ショート
による火災を起こしたりすることがあります。
指定以外のインターフェースケーブルを使用しない
インターフェースケーブルは、NECが指定するものを使用し、接続する
製品やコネクタを確認した上で接続してください。指定以外のケーブル
を使用したり、接続先を誤ったりすると、ショートにより火災を起こすこと
があります。
また、インターフェースケーブルの取り扱いや接続について次の注意を
お守りください。
■ ケーブルを踏まない。■ ケーブルの上にものを載せない。
■ ケーブルの接続がゆるんだまま使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルを使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルコネクタを使用しない。
針金や金属片を差し込まない
通気孔やカートリッジ挿入口から金属片や針金などの異物を差し込まな
いでください。感電の危険があります。
運用中の注意事項
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れない
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れないでください。手を挟まれたり、巻き込
まれたりしてけがをするおそれがあります。
雷がなったら触らない
雷が鳴りだしたら、ケーブル類も含めて本装置には触れないでください。
また、機器の接続や取り外しも行わないでください。落雷による感電の
おそれがあります。
ペットを近づけない
本製品にペットなどの生き物を近づけないでください。排泄物や体毛が
製品内部に入って火災や感電の原因となります。
腐食性ガスの存在する環境で使用または保管しない
腐食性ガス(二酸化硫黄、硫化水素、二酸化窒素、塩素、アンモニア、
オゾンなど)の存在する環境に設置し、使用しないでください。
また、ほこりや空気中に腐食を促進する成分(塩化ナトリウムや硫黄な
ど)や導電性の金属などが含まれている環境へも配置しないでください。
装置内部のプリント基板が腐食し、故障および発煙・発火の原因となる
おそれがあります。
もし、ご使用の環境で上記の疑いがある場合には、お買い求めの販売
店または保守サービス会社にご相談ください。
高温注意
本体装置の電源をOFFにした直後は、内蔵型のハードディスクドライブな
どをはじめ装置内の部品が高温になっています。十分に冷めたことを確
認してから取り付け/取り外しを行ってください。
電源・電源コードに関する注意事項
電源がONのまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず
主電源に接続している電源プラグをACコンセントから抜いてください。電
源プラグがACコンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をす
ると感電したりショートによる火災を起こすおそれがあります。
中途半端に差し込まない
DCケーブルはしっかりと差し込んでください。中途半端に差し込むと接触
不良のため発熱し、火災の原因となることがあります。また差し込み部に
ほこりがたまり、水滴などが付くと発熱し、火災の原因となるおそれがあ
ります。
指定以外の接続をしない
DCケーブルの接続や配線は本書の説明に従って正しく行ってください。
指定以外の接続や配線は火災や感電の原因となるおそれがあります。
破損したケーブルを使用しない
ケーブルを接続する前にコネクタが破損していたり、コネクタピンが曲
がっていたり、汚れたりしていないことを確認してください。破損や曲がっ
ているコネクタおよび汚れたコネクタを使用するとショートにより火災を引
き起こすおそれがあります。
指定以外のケーブルを使用しない
本体装置と接続するケーブルは弊社指定のものを使用し、接続先をよ
く確認してください。指定以外のケーブルを使用したり、指示とは異なる
接続のまま使用したりすると火災を引き起こすおそれがあります。
お手入れに関する注意事項
自分で分解・修理・改造はしない
本製品の分解や、修理・改造は絶対にしないでください。製品が正常に
動作しなくなるばかりでなく、感電や火災の危険があります。
電源プラグを差し込んだまま取り扱わない
お手入れは、本体装置の電源をOFFにして、電源プラグをACコンセント
から抜き、本製品のDCケーブルを抜いてください。たとえ電源をOFFにし
ても、電源プラグを接続したまま製品内の部品に触ると感電したりショート
による火災を起こすおそれがあります。
本装置の詳しい取り扱いについては、添付のCD内のユー
ザーズガイドに記載されています。本装置を使用前に必ず
ユーザーズガイドもお読みください。

ぬれた手で電源プラグの抜き差しをしないでください。感電をするおそれ
があります。

2. 本体装置への取り付け
本体装置機器等への設置方法例を以下に示します。
デバイス増設ユニットへ実装する場合は、
デバイス増設ユニット側のユーザーズガ
イドも参照してください。本製品を取り付
ける前に、取り付ける装置の電源をOFF
にして、電源コードと背面に接続している
すべてのインターフェースケーブルを取り外
してください。
(1)レールを取り付ける場合は下図のように取り付けます。 (2)下図のように本体装置に挿入します。
レール取付の有無については、本体装置の取扱説明書を参照願います。
(3)下図のように装置にSASケーブルとDCケーブル(システム側)を接続してください。
(4) SASケーブル接続後、ケーブルはファンや他の機器に干渉しないよう束ねてください。
(5) 本体装置にカバーを取り付けて、電源コードをコンセントに接続する。
(6) 本体装置の電源をONにする。
本製品に電源が投入され約1分間のセルフテストが始まります。
セルフテスト完了後はReady LEDが緑色に点灯し、1文字ディスプレイには何も表示されません。
５. カートリッジの取り出し
(1) LEDが点滅していないことを確認してください。
(2)イジェクトボタンを押すと、テープの巻き戻しが始まります。
（巻き戻しに数分かかる場合があります）
(3) データカートリッジの一部が排出されたら、データカート
リッジを引き出して取り出してください。
４. カートリッジの挿入
(1)本製品のLEDが点滅していないことを確認してください。
(2)データカートリッジのプロテクトスイッチが正しくセットされて
いることを確認してください。
(3) ライトプロテクトスイッチが手前に向くように、データカートリッ
ジを持ってください。
(4)カートリッジ挿入口にデータカートリッジをゆっくりと挿入して
ください。
途中まで挿入すると自動的にカートリッジを引き込みます。

・レールは取り付ける本体装置に添付されているものを使ってください。
・レールは本製品に添付されているネジを使って固定してください。
・ただし、本体側で指示がある場合は、本体側の指示に従ってください。
本製品に添付のネジは、ミリネジ（長さ4mm ,
ネジ頭より下の長さ 3.5mm）です。添付のネ
ジより長いものを使用すると装置内部の機構
を破損し、故障の原因となることがあります。

データカートリッジを挿入した状態でライトプロテクトスイッチの
設定を変更しないでください。データカートリッジを挿入したまま、
設定を変更するとエラーの原因となるおそれがあります。
データカートリッジがすでに排出位置にあり、そのデータカート
リッジを再度挿入したい場合は、データカートリッジをいったん
取り外してからもう一度挿入します 。
本製品はバックアップソフトからのカートリッジ排出操作に対
しては、カートリッジの排出準備（テープの巻き取り）を行うだ
けで、カートリッジを排出しない仕様になっています。
排出準備完了（Ready LEDの2回点滅繰り返し）を確認後、イ
ジェクトボタンを押してカートリッジを排出させてください。

NOTES SAFETY
General Attention
Do not use in life-critical applications or applications requiring
high reliability.
This device is not intended for integration with or control of facilities
or equipment that may affect human life or that require a high
degree of reliability, such as medical equipment, nuclear power
facilities, aerospace instruments, and transportation equipment. The
manufacturer does not assume any liability for accidents resulting in
injury or death, or for any damages to property that may occur as a
result of using this device in such facilities, equipment, or control
systems.
Do not use the Built-in LTO if any smoke, odor, or noise is
present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the
POWER switch and disconnect the power plug from the outlet, then
contact your sales agent. Using the Built-in LTO in such conditions
may cause a fire.
Keep water or foreign matter away from the Built-in LTO.
Do not let any kind of liquid (water etc.) or foreign matter (e.g., pins
or paper clips) enter the Built-in LTO. Failure to follow this warning
may cause an electric shock, a fire, or a failure of the Built-in LTO.
When such things accidentally enter the Built-in LTO, immediately
turn off the power and disconnect the power plug from the outlet.
Do not disassemble the Built-in LTO. Contact your sales agent.
Attention to Power or Power Cord
Do not install the device while the power is turned on.
Unplug the AC power cord from the main power source when
installing/uninstalling the device to/from server or connect it
with the enclosure. Failure to follow this warning may cause
an electric shock.
Insert the DC cable into the outlet as far as it goes.
Heat generation resulting from a halfway inserted DC cable
(imperfect contact) may cause a fire. Heat will also be
generated if condensation is formed on dusty blades of the
halfway inserted cable, increasing the possibility of a fire.
Do not connect the Built-in LTO by unspecified cabling.
Connecting or cabling with DC cable should be done in
accordance with the procedure specified in the User's Guide.
Unspecified connecting or cabling may cause an electric shock
or a fire.
Do not use any damaged power cord.
If the power cord is damaged, immediately replace it with a new
part of same type. Do not repair the damaged section for reuse.
Otherwise, the section repaired with vinyl tape or the like will be
overheated to cause an electric shock or a fire.
Use the authorized cable only.
Use only the specified cable when connecting the Built-in LTO
with a server. Use of an unspecified cable or connection by
unspecified cabling may cause a fire.
Attention to Installing, Moving, Storing, Connection
Do not close the ventilation hole.
Do not close the ventilation hole in the front side of the Built-in LTO.
Otherwise, Its internal temperature will rise to cause malfunctions
or a fire.
Do not connect/disconnect the interface cables before
unplugging the power plug.
Before connecting/disconnecting the interface cables, disconnect
the power plug of the main power unit from the outlet. If the power
is off but the power plug is still connected, you may get an electric
shock.
Do not use the unspecified interface cables.
Use only the cable authorized by NEC and locate the device and
connector before connection. Use of an unauthorized cable or
displaced connection may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.
When handling or connecting the interface cables, keep the notes
as follows:
■Do not tread on cables.
■Do not load on the cable.
■Insert the cable connector as far as it goes.
■Do not use damaged cables.
■Do not use damaged connectors.
Keep needles or metal objects away from the Built-in LTO.
Do not insert needles or metal objects into ventilation holes in the
Built-in LTO. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric
shock.
Attention to Handling or Maintenance
Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the Built-in LTO.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the Built-in LTO
on any occasion other than described in this User’s Guide.
Failure to follow this instruction may cause an electric shock
or a fire as well as malfunctions of the Built-in LTO.
Insert the cables into the connectors as far as it goes.

Interface cables (imperfect contact) may cause a fire. Heat will

Attention to Operation
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load
compartment.
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load compartment.
Otherwise, the fingers will be caught/pinched by the Built-in LTO
to cause an injury.
Do not touch the Built-in LTO when it thunders.
If it starts thundering, do not touch any part of the Built-in LTO.
Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock or a
fire.
Keep away pets.
Keep away pets from the Built-in LTO. Insertion their hair or
excrements may cause a fire or an electric shock.
Do not use the equipment in the place where corrosive gases
exist.
Do not use Built- In LTO Auto Loader, installing in the environment
where corrosive gas (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen
dioxide, chlorine, ammonia, ozone, etc.) exists.
In addition, do not set it up in the environment including the element
(sodium chloride and sulfur, etc.) that promotes corrosion in dust and
air, and the electro-conductive metal etc. The print plate in the
device corrodes, and it might cause the breakdown and smoking and
the ignition.
When there is the above-mentioned doubt in the environment of use,
please consult with a store or a maintenance service company.
Avoid installation in extreme temperature condition.
Immediately after the power supply of the server is turned off,
components in the server including the internal hard disk drive or
others are hot. Please install/detach the device after confirming it is
cold enough.
Do not hold the DC cable with a wet hand.
Do not disconnect/connect the cable while your hands are wet.
Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock.

2. Mounting on the Server
The procedure for installing the drive in a server is as follows.
(1) Attach as shown in the figure below If attaching a latching rail.
The presence or absence of latching rail attaching, refer to the server's operating manual.
(2) Install the Built-in LTO into the server.

Verify the packed contents with the part list given below and ensure that all the components
and parts are present. Also, check that each item is undamaged. If a component or part is
missing or damaged, contact your dealer.

Some servers require the rails to be used. For
details on how to install the rails, refer to the
server's operating manual.
Please use the correct latching rails which are attached with the
system.
Use the screws attached to the Built-in LTO for latching rails.
The attached screws are metric
screws (4.0 mm length, 3.5 mm under its washer).
Using a longer screw than them may cause
damage to the Built-in LTO internally and malfunction
may occur. Please adjust to move this product forward
by about 3mm hen mounting on Express5800/140Rf-4.
(3) Connect the SAS cable and DC cable to the
drive as shown in the figure below.

(4) After connecting the SAS cable, bundle the cables so that it does not interfere with the other devices or fan.
(5) Attach the cover to the server. Plug the power cable to the outlet.
(6) Turn on the server.

3. Part name and Function ①Cartridge insert
Slot in which the cartridge is inserted.
②EJECT button
Press this button when ejecting a cartridge.
③Ready LED (green)
The LED provides information about the state of
the drive with light.
④Encrypt LED (white)
The Encrypt LED provides information about the state of
the encryption with light.
⑤Error LED (amber)
The Error LED provides information about the state of
the error with light.
⑥Single Character Display
Display that shows the drive status by single character.
4. Setting the Data Cartridge
(1) Ensure the drive LED goes on
(2) Confirm that the Write Protect Switch is
correctly set.
(3) Insert the data cartridge into the data cartridge
slot slowly. When the cartridge is inserted at the
middle, it is automatically installed into the right position.
Do not change the position for the write protect switch
during the drive is installed into the drive. It may cause
the error if the position is changed with installation.
When the data cartridge is need to be re-installed at the
eject position, once the cartridge is removed from the
drive, then, once again, re-installation will be done
5. Ejecting the Data Cartridge
(1) Confirm that the power for the Built-In LTO is on.
(2) Press the eject button. The drive rewinds the tape and
partially ejects the cartridge.
The eject cycle will take a few minute.
(3) After the cartridge partially ejects, grasp the cartridge
and remove it.
If the cartridge eject command is issued by the backup
software, the Built-in LTO rewinds the tape, but does
not eject a cartridge. In this case, make sure that the
LTO is ready to eject a cartridge (the status LED blinks
twice and repeats that cycle). Then, press the Eject
button to eject a cartridge.
Check the direction of the SAS cable.
Do not connect with reverse.

不要用于事关人命和需要高度可靠性的业务上
不要将本产品安装在医疗器械，原子能设备和机器，航空宇宙机器，
运输设备和机器等事关人命的设备和机器以及需要高度可靠性的设备
和机器上，也不要使用其对这些机器进行控制。如果将本产品用于这
些设备和机器，控制系统等，所造成的后果，人身事故，财产损失等，
本公司概不负责。
发生冒烟、异味、杂音时不要使用本产品
万一发生冒烟、异味、杂音等时，请立即马上关闭电源开关，并将电
源插头从插座上拔下。然后请与购买本产品的经销商或维修服务公司
联系。 继续使用则可能导致火灾。
设备内不要进水和异物
本设备内不要进入水等液体，或针，夹子等的异物。否则，有可能导
致火灾，触电或设备发生故障。一旦进入异物，请立即马上关闭电源
开关，并将电源插头从插座上拔下。
不要自行拆卸，请与经销商或维修服务公司联系。
供电电源线的注意事项
请勿在电源开启的状态下直接安装．拆除

必将连接主电源的AC电缆由AC插座上拔下。若在AC电缆连接于

DC电缆请务必完全插入插座内
DC电缆请完全插入插座内。若未完全插入，可能因接触不良而
发热，有发生火灾的危险。此外，插入部位若累积灰尘或附着
水滴等，可能因此发热而引发火灾。
请勿使用未指定的DC线缆
使用未指定线缆或连接错误等会造成短路、导致火灾。
不要使用破损的电源线
使用未指定线缆或连接错误等会造成短路、导致火灾。
有关安装、移动、保管、连接的注意事项
不要阻塞排气孔
不要阻塞位于本产品前方的通气孔。否则不仅会因内部温度上升，产
生错误动作，甚至可能有发生火灾的危险。
请勿在插着电源插头的状态下连接接口线缆
在服务器上安装/拆卸任何可选内置设备，或从服务器上连接/拔下
任何接口线缆前，请确认已关闭服务器的电源，并且已从电源插座
上拔掉电源线。即使电源已关闭，在电源线连接的状态下，可能因
接触内置设备、线缆或接口导致触电、或会因短路而引起火灾。
不要使用未指定电缆
请使用本公司指定的介面电缆及电源线，并确认连接的设备及连接器
后再行连接。若使用未指定的电缆、或连接设备错误，可能有发生火
灾的危险。
此外，关于介面电缆的使用及连接，请遵守以下事项。
・不要踩踏电缆。
・不要在电缆上放置物品。
・不要在电缆扭曲的状态下连接使用。
・不要使用破损的电缆。
・不要使用破损的电缆连接器。
不要插入铁丝和金属片
不要用金属片和铁丝等的异物插入本产品的吸气孔或排气孔。否则，
有触电的危险。
保养相关注意事项
不要自行分解．修理．改造
本产品绝对不要分解、修理．改造。不仅设备可能无法正常动
作，更可能引发触电或火灾的危险。
应确实安装
电源线及介面电缆请确实安装。
若不确实安装，可能引起接触不良，有冒烟或起火的危险。
不要在插着电源线的状态下使用
保养时请将本产品电源关闭，并将电源插头由插座上拔起后再
行实施。即使电源已关闭，若电源插头仍插在插座上，接触设
备内散件时仍可能有触电的危险。
此外，平时请偶尔拔起电源插头，以干布充分擦去灰尘及污垢。
若累积灰尘或附着水滴等，可能因此发热而引发火灾。
运行中注意事项
手不要放进设备内部
不要将手放入盒式磁盘插入口。否则手可能被夹住或卷入，有受
伤的危险。
打雷时不要触摸预防静电放电引发损伤
打雷时不要触摸包括电缆类在内的本设备。此外，也不要连接或
拆下机器。
否则可能因打雷而有触电的危险。
不要接近宠物
不要将本产品接近宠物等生物，否则排泄物或毛发可能吸入设备
内部，有发生火灾或触电的危险。
不要在有腐蚀性气体的环境下使用或保管本设备
不要在有腐蚀性气体(二氧化硫、硫化氢、二氧化氮、氯、氨水、臭氧
等)的环境下安装或使用本设备。此外，也不要将它装设在空气（或灰
尘）含有加速腐蚀的成份（例如硫、氯化钠）或金属导体的环境中。
否则，可能会导致内部刷漆面板腐蚀、发生故障，造成冒烟和火灾的
危险。如果针对所使用的环境有上述的疑问之处时，请与经销商或维
修服务公司联系。
小心高温
刚关闭本设备电源时，设备散件仍维持高温。请确认已充分冷却后再
行作业。
