Adding/Replacing a DECT Handset on the DXE Telephone System
Each DECT handset must be registered to the telephone system before calls can be made. The
registration process must be repeated for each handset. The registration process identifies the
DECT handset to the telephone system and vice-versa.
This guide covers the deleting of a DECT handset that is already registered and adding of a new
DECT handset either in its place or as a new extension.
Identify the Extension Port to which a DECT handset is Registered.
Each DECT handset is associated with an extension port on the telephone system; this port is used
to give the handset an extension number. If you want to replace a DECT handset with a new one
you must first delete the registration for the old handset. To do this you will need to know which
extension port the old handset was registered to. You should be informed by your
supplier/maintainer which extension port the old handset is registered to.
If you have not been informed it is possible to identify the port yourself. You will need access to
any keytelephone that has an LCD display and the extension number that you dial to ring the old
DECT handset.
1. At the display keytelephone press the CHECK key.

Each digit will be shown

When all digits are entered the display will show information related to the extension number.
3. Make a note of the extension port number.
If the extension number you entered is not used the display will remain blank.
4. To return the display to the time and date press the CLEAR key.

How to Access DXE Administrator Mode
In order to make changes to the DXE telephone system you will need access to any key telephone
with an LCD display.
There are some cautions that must be noted when accessing the Administrator Mode.
• Administrator mode allows you access to other areas of DXE configuration that are not
documented within this guide, please ensure that you only use the command numbers
described within this guide.
• Once changes are made they will take immediate effect.
• You cannot ‘undo’ any mistakes, you can overwrite any mistakes that you make.
• Whilst accessing Administrator mode the keytelephone will be busy to other extensions
trying to call you.
Before accessing Administrator mode ensure that the key telephone is idle and has no calls on
hold/park.
Note that the access codes and passwords can be changed by the installer/maintainer. Please contact
your supplier and make a note of the changes within the parenthesis below if the default codes are
not accepted.
1. Press the SPK key
2. Dial the Administrator Access code - # * # * ( )
The display will show
If the Administrator Access code has been changed you will hear busy tone after entering the
default code of # * # *, if so please contact your supplier for the correct Administrator Access
code
3. Dial the Password - 0000 ( )
The display will show each digit as @ on the display
4. Press HOLD

To exit Administrator Mode
To exit from Administrator mode and return the key telephone to normal operation
1. Press HOLD until the Enter Command> prompt is displayed. Each time you
press HOLD the display will move up one level of Administrator mode.

Deleting a DECT Handset that is already Registered.
You must first delete the registration of the old DECT handset before you can replace it with a new
handset. Once deleted the old handset can no longer be used to make or receive calls on the
telephone system.
To delete the registration you will need access to a key telephone with an LCD display.
1. Enter Administrator mode. (See How to Access Administrator Mode for
instructions)
2. At the Enter Command> prompt enter 3104 with the keypad.
The display will show

4. Enter the port number with the keypad.
DO NOT enter 0 as this will remove ALL DECT handsets from the telephone system
and you will have to register all handsets again.

how to find the port number of the DECT handset that you want to delete.

Adding a New DECT Handset
The registration process is slightly different for each of the NEC Infrontia DECT handsets. First
identify which type of handset you want to register and then follow the instructions for that
handset. If you are registering a non NEC Infrontia handset follow the instructions for the
telephone system within this guide and the instructions supplied with the handset.

Registering the DHAH Handset
Before beginning the registration ensure that the DECT handset has a charged battery fitted and is
switched on.
You will need access to any keytelephone that has an LCD display and the DECT handset you want
to register.
The following instructions are separated between the operations to be performed at the
keytelephone (on the left side of the page) and the DECT handset (on the right side of the page)
