All electrical and mechanical equipment needs to be cared
forappropriately. It’s important to note thatusing or storing
the appliance in certain conditions may adversely affect its
lifespanandfunctionality.Alwaysprotecttheappliancefrom
theconditionslistedbelow.
Using or storing the appliance in a wet, humid or damp
environment can cause:
–deteriorationandprematureagingofthecoverandelectric
insulationoftheappliance,
–premature wearing and aging of the plastic and rubber
components,
–rustandcorrosionaffectingelectricalcomponentsandmetal
parts.
Using the appliance in a dusty environment or in the kitchen
(where the air may be contaminated with vapors from cooking
oil or grease) can cause:
–greasy dust coatings on the mechanical and electrical
elementsandthecasingoftheappliance,whichcouldresult
inelectricalcontactfailureorevencompletebreakdown,and
couldalsodamagetheplasticandrubberelements.
The effects of direct sunlight on the appliance can include:
–accelerated deterioration of the appliance casing and its
plasticandrubbercomponents,damagetostrengthandother
structural features. The appliance’s surface may become
porousandfragile,whichmayresultinasafetyrisk.
Storing the appliance in cold or frosty environment may cause:
–damagetotheplasticandrubbercomponents;iftheybecome
fragile,thismayresultinasafetyrisk,
–oxidationresultingfromcondensation,andcorrosionofthe
metalcomponents.
Direct and indirect heat (e.g. being too close to an oven or
a heating appliance) can cause:
–damage, deformation, softening or melting of plastic
or rubber parts and casing elements, or deterioration of
electricalinsulation.
Followingtheoperatinginstructionsandavoidinganyofthe
conditionslistedabovewillhelpyouincreasethelifespanofthe
appliance.Themanufacturerisnotresponsibleiftheappliance
is stored inappropriately or contrary to these instructions.
Youarerecommendedtohavetheapplianceservicedregularly
byanauthorisedengineertokeepitworkingforaslongas
possible.
NOTES
• The appliance can be energized only by batte-
ries. Neither a mains connection, supply ada-
pternor supplyaccumulatorcan beused forits
power supply.
• Please use only batteries as specied in the
instruction manual. Other batteries (other
size or shape) cannot be inserted in the ap-
pliance and it may become inoperable or da-
maged when used with batteries supplying a
dierent voltage.
Battery replacement
•Thebatterymustbereplacedwhenthelow-batterywarning
appearsonthedisplay.
Replacethebatteriesbyfollowingtheseinstructions.
•Removethecoverofthebatteryholder.
•Removethedeadbatteryandinsertanewone,makingsure
thepolarity(+/-)ofthebatterymatchesthemarkingsonthe
appliance. Please take care when doing this; the warranty
doesn’t cover damage caused by replacing the battery
incorrectly.
•Replacethebatterycover.
•Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household
waste,because they will endanger theenvironment! Please
useadedicatedwastecontainerprovidedforthispurposeor
acollectingstationfordisposingofusedbatteries!
•Neverthrowthebatteriesinthere,becausetheycanexplode.
USING OF APPLIANCE:
Before use
Unpacktheapplianceandremoveallthepackingmaterials.
Examine the device to make sure it’s complete and has not
sufferedanydamage.Youshouldonlyusethedeviceifallparts
arepresentandundamaged.
Somenewdevicesmayhaveaprotectivelmoverthebattery
cover. Remove any protective lm, open the battery cover
andinsert a newbattery byfollowing theinstructions in the
‘Batteryreplacement’sectionofthisguide.
