You have received a product that is very versatile for everyday use at home and outdoors.
In order to exclude injuries of any type, familiarise yourself with the handling, functions and intended use of the
product before using it. These instructions for use provide you with the related necessary information.
Please note the following in particular:
• All users and/or their attendants must be trained by qualified personnel in the use of the product. In particular,
users and/or attendants must be informed of the residual risks with the aid of the safety notices in the instruc
tions for use (user).
• The product was adapted to the needs of the user. Subsequent changes may be made only by qualified per
sonnel. We recommend checking the product settings onceper year to ensure optimal treatment over the long
term. Especially for users with a changing anatomy (forexample body dimensions, weight), an adjustment at
least onceevery six months is recommended.
• Your product may differ from the models shown. In particular, not all the options described in these instruc
tions for use will be installed on your product.
• The manufacturer reserves the right to make technical changes to the model described in these instructions for
use.
2 Product description
2.1 Function
The walking aid is a therapy device to compensate for a reduced capacity or performance of the lower limbs by
using the strength and support of the upper limbs.
The walking aid promotes individual mobility and therefore independent living for people with limited ability to walk.
It can, among other things, compensate for an uncertain gait, improve stability and the ability to maintain balance,
support an upright body posture and/or reduce the risk of falling.
Positioned behind the body (posterior), the walking aid is open to the front. Thus, the walking aid promotes an
upright gait and permits a longer stride length and optimum forward freedom of movement (e.g.when approaching
furniture or for interaction with the surroundings).
The reverse-roll locks on the rear wheels prevent the walking aid from rolling back.
The product can be used on solid ground both indoors and outdoors.

3 Intended use
The safe use of the product can only be ensured in case of intended use in accordance with the information con
tained in these instructions for use. The user is ultimately responsible for accident-free operation.
3.1 Indications for use
The product is intended for everyday indoor and outdoor use, by the user, of people with temporary or permanent
limitations of the ability to walk or difficulty standing up.
The product is suitable for users with intact skin whose anatomy (suchas body dimensions and weight) permits the
intended use of the product. It is operated by an attendant.
The product may only be used with the options that are listed on the product order form. Ottobock assumes no
liability for combinations with medical devices and/or accessories from other manufacturers outside the modular
system.

Combinations based on a combination agreement that have been evaluated for effectiveness and safety are an

►The groin strap is not easily flammable ('schwerentflammbar') according to the requirements of the ISO
8191-2 or DIN EN 1021-2 standard. However, it may still ignite if fire is handled improperly or negligently.
►Keep away from all ignition sources, especially lit cigarettes.

5.2 Standard equipment

5.3 Options
The basic equipment may have been adapted to the needs of the user by adding options. For use of these options:
see Page15ff.
5.4 Storage
5.4.1 Storage during daily use
The product should always be stored so it is protected against external influences.
5.4.2 Storage during extended disuse
The product must be stored in a dry place. Specific information for extended storage: see Page28.
It is not necessary to disassemble the product.
Maintain sufficient clearance from sources of heat. If the product is parked for an extended period of time or the
tyres overheat (e.g.in the vicinity of radiators or in case of exposure to strong sunlight behind glass), the tyres may
become permanently deformed.
During extended storage, the knee lever wheel lock on products with PU tyres (=tubeless tyres) must be released
since tyre deformation may otherwise result.

6 Preparing the product for use
6.1 Assembly
CAUTION
Improper installation of options/accessories
Falling of the user due to incorrect installation, damage to optional components
►All options/accessory components must be installed by the qualified personnel unless they were pre-installed
by the manufacturer. A few notes on installation are provided here for the benefit of the qualified personnel.
►Always mount options/accessory components so that the stability of the product is maintained.
CAUTION
Holding on to the product incorrectly while unfolding and folding
Pinching, crushing due to lack of caution in danger areas
►While folding the product, do not hold on to other parts than the ones described, especially the folding mech
anism.
►Avoid pinching yourself on the frame components.
CAUTION
Improper adjustment of the grip bar
User tipping over or falling due to installation errors
►Check the height and depth of the grip bar each time after adjusting the grip bar. Correct the height and
depth if needed, otherwise there may be a risk of tipping forward.
►Note that the highest adjustment of the grip bar is given by an extension limiter. Settings beyond this range
are not permitted.
CAUTION
Improper locking of the grip bar
Pinching, crushing due to sliding down
►Note that the grip bar – even after the tripod springs engage at the maximum extension height – always has to
be locked by engaging the cam lever.
►Verify that the grip bars have been set to the same height before using them.
CAUTION
Incorrect adjustment of the grip bar depth

►The grip bar depth always has to be behind the swivel lock housing by a defined measurement. Please
observe the following instructions.

Setting up the base frame
1) Remove the transport locks and packaging material. Lay the parts on the floor (see fig.5).
2) Hold the base frame behind the front wheels and unfold it (see fig.6).
CAUTION! Always unfold the folding mechanism fully. Otherwise, there is a risk of tipping due to the
base frame folding up unintentionally.
3) After unfolding, tighten the star knobs on both sides (see fig.7).

Attaching the grip bar
1) If necessary: Disengage the cam levers on both sides of the base frame.
2) Unfold the grip bar (see fig.8) and insert it into the unfolded base frame (see fig.9).
3) While inserting the grip bar, press the tripod springs (extension limiter) in. Slide the grip bar into the frame until
the extension limiters on the left and right engage (see fig.10).
CAUTION! Note that the grip bar – even after the tripod springs engage at the maximum extension
height – always has to be locked by engaging the cam lever.

Adjusting the height of the grip bar
The height of the grip bar is continuously adjustable.
1) Slide the grip bar to the desired height and engage the cam lever on both sides of the base frame (see fig.11).
To do so, adjust the closing force of the cam lever by adjusting the knurled nut while the lever is disengaged
(see fig.12).
INFORMATION: Subsequently, it must be possible to tightly engage the cam lever with high manual
force.
2) Check the firm fit of the grip bar after engaging the lever.
INFORMATION: The grip bar must not slide in with a standard load. Otherwise, the closing force of
the cam lever has to be increased further by releasing the lever and turning the knurled nut clockwise
again (see fig.12).

Adjusting the depth of the grip bar
The depth of the grip bar is continuously adjustable.
The grip bar depth has to be adjusted so that the front edge of the handles on the grip bar are behind the swivel
lock housings by the measurement A (see fig.14).
When using channel forearm supports, the front edge of the channels has to be behind the swivel lock housings by
the measurement A.

1) Adjust the grip bar depth evenly on both sides and firmly tighten the clamping screws on both sides (see
fig.13).
2) To check, place the Nurmi Neo with the swivel lock housings against a smooth door (see fig.14).

3) Measure the distance from the door panel to the end of the handle or channel forearm support.
INFORMATION: In this process, the swivel lock housings have to be pushed fully onto the front frame
and the caster wheels turned at an angle.

7 Delivery
7.1 Transport to the customer

7.2 Handing over the product

►Instruct the user or the attendant in the proper use of the product when handing it over.
The following steps must be performed for the safe delivery of the product:
• Conduct a standing test with the user of the product. Pay special attention to a proper standing position
according to medical considerations.
• Instruct the user and attendants in the safe use of the product. Use the enclosed instructions for use for this
purpose.
• The instructions for use must be given to the user/attendant upon delivery of the product.

8.1 Basic functions
8.1.1 Adjusting the grip bar (standard)
The height and depth of the grip bar are continuously adjustable.

8.1.2 Using the reverse-roll lock
CAUTION
Malfunction of the reverse-roll lock
Falling, tipping over of the user due to incorrect maintenance
►Check the functionality of the reverse-roll lock regularly and correct it if necessary.
►Replace worn or damaged wheels.
The walking aid is equipped with reverse-roll locks to protect the user against the possibility of falling backwards.
Activating the reverse-roll lock
1) Push the reverse-roll locks on both sides in against the springs.
2) Swing the reverse-roll locks down (see fig.17).
Deactivating the reverse-roll lock
1) Push the reverse-roll locks on both sides in against the springs.
2) Swing the reverse-roll locks up (see fig.18).

8.2.1 Grab rail
8.2.1.1 Grip bar with universal grips
CAUTION
Improper adjustment of the adjustable grips

►Note that a setting of the adjustable grips to the outside beyond the grip bar is not permitted.
The height and depth of the grip bar are continuously adjustable.
Further information on adjustment is found in the section "Assembly" (see Page12 ff.). Pay special attention to the
safety instructions for adjusting the hand grips.
Additional adjustment possibility
With this grip bar, the distance between the grips and the handle height of the hand grips can also be adjusted.
1) Pull out the caps (notillustrated).
2) Loosen the screw connections that are now exposed (see see fig.19).
3) Twist the two hand grips, thereby adjusting the distance between the grips and the handle height (see
Page28).
CAUTION! The hand grips may only be adjusted within the grip bars (see fig.20).
4) After adjustment, firmly retighten the screw connections.
5) Reinsert the caps (not illustrated).

8.2.1.3 Grip bar, extra high, with channel forearm rests
CAUTION
Improper adjustment of the hand grips/channel forearm rests

►Note that a setting of the adjustable hand grips/channel forearm rests to the outside beyond the grip bar is not
permitted.
The height and depth of the grip bar are continuously adjustable.
Further information on adjustment is found in the section "Assembly" (see Page12 ff.). Pay special attention to the
safety instructions for adjusting the hand grips.
Additional adjustment possibility
The channel forearm rests with vertical hand grips were developed as a solution for users who are unable to sup
port themselves safely on their extended arms. Here the channel forearm rests offer additional support.
The height of the channel forearm rests and vertical hand grips is adjusted together with the grip bars. Further
information is found in the section "Assembly" (see Page12 ff).
The depth and angle of the vertical hand grips as well as the depth of the channel forearm rests and the distance
between the channel forearm rests can also be adjusted.
Adjusting the hand grips
1) Loosen the screws under the channel forearm rest (see fig.22, item2).
2) Adjust the angle and depth of the hand grip (see fig.22, item1).
CAUTION! The distance between the channel forearm rest and hand grip should be adjusted so as to
avoid pressure points and cramped postures.
3) Retighten the screws.

1) Remove the pad from the channel forearm rest (see fig.23, item1).
2) Loosen the screws on the channel forearm rest (see fig.23, item2).
3) Adjust the depth of the channel forearm rest.
CAUTION! The distance between the channel forearm rest and hand grip should be adjusted so as to
avoid pressure points and cramped postures.
4) Retighten the screws.
Adjusting the distance between the channel forearm rests
1) Loosen the clamping screws on the grip bar (see fig.22, item3).
2) Adjust the continuously variable distance between the channel forearm rests (see Page28).
CAUTION! The distance between the channel forearm rests should be adjusted so as to avoid pres
sure points and cramped postures. The channel forearm rests may only be adjusted within the range
shown (see fig.24).

8.2.2 Storage bag
NOTICE
Overloading
Damage due to failure to observe specifications
►Observe the maximum load of the storage basket (see Page28).
►Please note that the maximum load of the overall product must not be exceeded even after loading the storage
basket.
The storage basket is available in 2 different sizes (see Page28).
Installing the storage basket
1) Rivet an anti-twist device for a quick-release lock to the grip bar (see fig.25).
2) Mount the storage basket on the grip bar, centred or offset to the side (when using a gluteal support) (see
fig.26).
3) Use the quick-release lock to take the storage basket off the grip bar.
Removing/attaching the storage basket
1) Press the quick-release lock and take the storage basket off the holder.
2) Set the storage basket onto the holder and push it down.

8.2.3 Driving brake and wheel lock
CAUTION
Insufficient braking
Falling, tipping over of the user due to loss of braking function
►Check the proper functioning of the wheel lock regularly and correct it if necessary.
►Replace worn or damaged wheels.
The wheel lock allows controlled braking and safely parking the therapy aid without it rolling away.
Engaging the wheel lock
1) Pull the wheel lock lever.
2) Engage the retaining claw with your index finger (see fig.27). The wheel lock lever is engaged.
Releasing the wheel lock
1) Pull the wheel lock lever slightly.
2) The retaining claw opens and releases the wheel lock.
Adjusting the wheel lock
1) If the braking function is insufficient, readjust the respective brake cable with the adjustment screw (see
fig.28).
2) Verify the braking function. Make sure the braking function is adequate when the wheel lock lever is locked
with the retaining claw.

8.2.4 Gluteal support and combined gluteal and pelvic support
The gluteal support (see fig.29) and combined gluteal and pelvic support (see fig.30) are for optimum position of
the user in the area of the grip bar.
Adjusting the gluteal support
The gluteal supports can be adjusted in three dimensions:
1) Depth adjustment: Loosen the screw connection and push the support ahead/back (see fig.29, item1; see
fig.30, item1). Re-tighten the screw connection.
