VIP-150Toffers the most flexibilityandinteroperabilitywithPLANET and 3rd partyVoIP vendors,
allowingthedeploymentof both simpleand complex VoIPnetworkssuch as ITSP,
PC-to-Phone/Phone-to-PC or enterprise VoIPenvironments.
Standards compliant
The VIP-100PTcomplies with H.323version4, and supportsH.323fast start, H.245tunneling,
GateKeeper H.235securitymodefor different occasions. TheVIP-150PT complieswithSIP 2.0
(RFC3261), interoperates with 3rd partySIPvoice gateways/terminal/softwareas wellas other
PLANETVoIPproducts. Supported Voicecodecs and VoIP technologies are: G.723, G.729ab,
G.711mu/ma; Voice ActivityDetection (VAD), andthe Comfort Noise Generation (CNG).

Keypad Description
Menu/OK
When the IPphoneis at idle state, this keyis used as “Menu”keytobring
out the menuselection onthe LCD display.
When inside themenu selection/setting on the LCDdisplay, this keyis used
as “OK”keyto enter intoalowerlayerofmenuselection or to accept the
editeditem s contents.
When the IPphoneis on dial mode, the “OK/Menu”keyis used as “Dial
Out ”key.
LEFT
When the IPphoneis at idle state ortalking on handset or speaker, this key
is usedto increase the volumeofthe voicesound.
The volume of speaker, handset andring are separatelyadjusted according
to the mode of current usage. When in idle, “”keyincreasethevolume of
ring tone, in hand free mode, “”keyincrease the volume ofspeaker, when
in handset mode, “”keyincrease thevolumeof handset.
When the IPphoneis entered into the menu selection, this keyis used to
scrollup themenuitems.
Andwhenthe IPphoneis editing some menu item s contents, this keyis
used as “left delete”to delete a digitpereachkeypress.
When the IPphoneis on dial mode, the “”keyis usedas “delete”key.
RIGHT
When the IPphoneis at idle state ortalking on handset or speaker, this key
is usedto decrease thevolume of thevoicesound.
The volume of speaker, handset andring are separatelyadjusted according
to the mode of current usage. When in idle, “→”keydecrease the volume of
ring tone, inhand free mode, “→”keydecrease thevolumeofspeaker,
when in handset mode, “→”keydecrease the volume of handset.
When the IPphoneis entered into the menu selection, this keyis used to
scrolldown the menuitems.

Andwhenthe IPphoneis editing some menu item s contents, this keyis
used as “right shift”toshift the cursor right adigitper each keypress.
CANCEL
When the IPphoneis entered into the menu selection, this keyis used to
escape toan upper layerof the menu selection.
Andwhenthe IPphoneis editing some menu item s contents, this keyis
used tocancel current edit and escape to anupper layer of the menu
selection.
TRANSFER
This keyis pressedto transferan active callto anotherIPphone.When the
IPphone is active (incoming call answeredor outgoingcall accepted), by
pressing this key, a dialtonewill be heard, then the user can keyinanother
IPphone s number totransfer thecall to another party. If thecalltransfer is
successful, a busytonewillappear to notice theuser to on-hookthe phone.
If thecallis failed,theuser can press this “Transfer”key againtoretrieve
backthis original call connection.
When a callis incoming and this IPphoneis ringing, bypressing this
“Transfer”keyandthenanother IP phone s number can transferthe call
immediatelyto another partywithout answering the call.
RE/DIAL
When the IPphoneis off-hooked and dialed some number, this keyis
pressedtocallout. The “#”keyhas this samefunctionto sendoutthe called
number.
When the IPphoneis off-hooked and this keyis pressed immediately, the
last dialednumber will becalled out right away.
HOLD
To hold theconversation.
This keycan also be pressed todo consultant-transfer ofan activecallto
another IPphone.Whenthe IPphone is active (incoming callansweredor
outgoing call accepted), bypressing this key, adialtonewill be heard, then
theuser can keyin anotherIPphone s number to call toanother partyand
have a conversationwith him. Then, bypressing “TRANSFER”key, the call
willbe transfer to this new party.
SPK
This keyis pressedto switch between theusage of thehandset and the
speaker/microphonedevices.

2.1 Initialize VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT
SETP 1:
When power on theVIP-100PT/VIP-150PT, theLCD screen shows as below.
SETP 2:
Wait about 10 seconds, themainLCD screen shall beshown as following, and
whenthe Internet access is available, the VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT willconnected
to the SNTPserver. The current time will be displayed on the LCD.

“View”menu
In the “View”main menu, there are submenus, users maycheck theseitems for machine
information and also provide some simple functions to checkthe networkstatus of theIP Phone.
1.1 Viewcurrentnetwork settings
By selecting “View””Network”, you couldsee the active network parametersinmachine.
1.2 Ping
Byselecting “View””Ping”and keyin the IPaddress or domainname ofanotherdevice,
theIPPhonecanverifythe connectionbetween remote device. The “ping”command also
can be usedto verifythe Internet connectionstatus viapinging an Internet node
1.3 Restart
Byselectingthe “View””Restart”, the PoE IPPhone will reboot itself immediately.This
“warmrestart”is different fromthe power down/up(cold restart).
1.5 Displaycurrent software version
Byselectingthe “View”→”Image Version”,the userscan viewcurrent software version in
thePoEIPPhone.
1.6 PK Tracefor signalmonitoring
PLANETPoE IPPhonesintegrate self-analysis packet tracingalgorithm,whichis able to
performmachine signalingmonitoring task,By enabling the “View””PKT Trace”to (Yes),
theLCDscreen will displaysignalingmessages received,and this canbe usedto monitor
thesignals andidentifythe machine running status.
NetworkConfiguration
The first thingin usingthe PoEIPPhoneis to set thenetworkconfiguration to lettheIP
Phone connect to Internet. Depends on the networkenvironment and phonemodels, please
use theproper method to configure the IPPhonetoconnect to Internet.
2.1 Dynamic IPMethod (DHCPClient)
When the IPphone installed in aDHCPserverenabled networkenvironment (forexample,

Configuration steps:
2.1.2 PPPoE
Most of thebroadband networkenvironment provided nowbyISPisthe ADSLconnection. In
theADSLenvironment, the IPPhone can directlyconnect totheADSLmodembysettingthe
PPPoEaccount (username andpassword)provided byADSLservice provider,the
configuration steps are shown below: .
Please browse to machinenetworkconfigurationmenu, andenablethe PPPoE service in
machine, andsetupthe username/password fields forInternet access.
PPPoEUsername –please input the usernameof theaccount given byADSLISP.
PPPoEPassword –please input the password of the account givenbyADSLISP.
2.1.3 FixedIP
Under the “FixedIP”submenu, pleasekeyin the IPaddress, networkmaskanddefault
routersettingsprovided byyour ISPor private IPaddress.
2.1.3 GMT
Via selecting the timezone in the GMT menu, VIP-100PT/ VIP-150PT is able to retrieve time
informationfromtimeserver on the net.
Configure Password：123 Network (Yes/No) DynamicIP
Configure Password：123 Network (Yes/No) PPPoE
Configure Password：123 Network Static IP
Once all the network settings are completed, please restart your
IP phone. After rebooting, please check Internet connection status
via View -àPing,then insert in apublic, live IP
address (for
example, 168.95.1.1) to ping it. When the response is ok, then the
network configurations are completed.

2.2 Registration toH.323 gatekeeper / SIPProxyServer
Aftersetting up thenetwork parameters, the IPPhoneis able to performregistration to the
H.323 gatekeeper(VIP-100PT)or SIPProxyserver (VIP-150PT) when you ve been
assignedthe account fromVoIPvendor/service provider.
2.2.1 Registrationtoa H.323 gatekeeper (VIP-100PT)
When VIP-100PTis installed inan H.323GKenablednetwork,theVIP-100PT registers to
thegatekeeperfor voicecommunications. Followingdescriptions areparameters to
completethe registration.
TelephoneNumber:
Telephonephone numberused to registertoward thegatekeeper.
Password:
Password used toregister to thegatekeeper.
This password willbeencapsulated inthe H.235 messageforauthentication
purpose. Not every gatekeeper demands this value for authentication; please skip
this field ifyour ISP does not provide this information.
H.323ID:
The H.323ID willbeused to register tothegatekeeper.Not every gatekeeper
demands thisvaluefor authentication;pleaseskip this fieldifyourISPdoes not
providethis information.
GK mode (Yes/No):
Selecting Yes will enablemachineinGK mode, andregisterto thegatekeeper.
(Machine default mode is Peer-to-Peer(P2P))
If you dliketo changetheGK settings, it is suggested to log inmachine web
interface, andbrowse toH.323 configuration menuto adjust related parameters.
When VIP-100PT fails to registerwith thegatekeeper,the IP phonestill able to
establish voice calls towardother callingpartiesPeer-to-Peervia dialingtheIP
address directlyonthe keypad.
Configure Password：123 H.323
The telephone number, H.323 ID and password fields are
application-oriented parameters.
Please be sure to checkwith your
service provider to get the proper information before setting up
these fields.

RTPLowBW (Yes/No):
This abilityis to decreasethevoice packet bandwidthofthe transmit directionin
order to improvethe voice qualityof transmitdirectionif the Internetbandwidth is
not goodenough.
2.2.1 Registrationtoa SIPProxyServer (VIP-150PT)
When theVoIP vendor/operatoris runningthe SIPsystem, use theVIP-150PT to
register to the proxyserver.Configure the following parameters to do theregistration.

The usernameusedtoregister toProxyserver.IfProxyserver doesn trequest
specific username, please enter the assigned telephone numberhere.
TelephoneNumber:
Please input the phone number toregister to theproxyserver.
Password:
Please input the passwordto register to the proxyserver.
This passwordis encapsulated intheSIPProxy-Authorizationfieldusing MD5
digest method forauthentication purpose.Not everyproxyserver needsthis field,
ifnot needed, keep it empty.
Proxymode (Yes/No):
Please check the applicationdemands and select the appropriate operationmode.
Selecting Yes toenable SIPproxymode, andrequires additional data input(such
astheusername, password, serverinformation)to establish thevoice
communication,SIPproxyismostlyadopted inITSP (InternetTelephonyService
Provider). Selecting No will enablemachine in Peer-to-Peer mode.
After theSIPproxymode is enabled,two configurationmenu will appear:one is

•The SIP telephone number, login ID and password fields are
application-
oriented parameters. Please be sure to check with
your service provider to get the proper information before
inputting parameters.
•VIP-150PT follows the RFC-2617 in the SIP authentication
applications.

Defaultproxyserver port is 5060. Pleasedonot changetheproxyserverport
number unless your serviceprovider gives these parameters.
If the IPPhonedoes notregisterto anyproxyserver,itstillcancalltootherIP
phone bycalling theIPaddress directly.
Outbound Proxy(Yes/No):
Please set thisitemto Yes ifthe registrationneedsto pass through theOutbound
Proxyserver.
Registration /Startupmessage
When the networkand registration configurations areset, please restart the IPPhone,the LCD
displayonthe IPphone will showoneof the following message depends on whether the
registration is okor not.
Whenthe VIP-100PTisregistering to aH.323 gatekeepersuccessfully,theLCDscreen
will displaythe followingmessage:
Means thattheVIP-100PT is workingOK andreadyfor outgoing/incomingcalls. The
number insidebraces ()is the IPphone s number.
Means thatthe VIP-100PTis workingOKand readyforoutgoing/incoming calls. But
the “GKmode ”flagis “No”,i.e. theVIP-100PTnot needto register.Inthiscase, can
call the IPaddress of otherVIP-100PT directly.
When theIVIP-150PT is registeringto a SIP proxyserver successfully,the LCD screen
will displaythe followingmessage:

Means thattheVIP-150PT is workingOK andreadyfor outgoing/incomingcalls. The
number insidebraces ()is the IPphone s number.
Means thatthe VIP-150PTis workingOKand readyforoutgoing/incoming calls. But
the “Proxy On”flagis “No”,i.e. theVIP-150PT notneedtoregister.Inthis case,cancall
the IPaddress of otherVIP-150PT directly.
WhenthePoEIPPhoneis failedinregisteringtoaH.323gatekeeper orSIPproxy
server, the LCD screenwill displaythe following message:
The failedmessage could be oneofthe followings:
Duplicate: means that the registering number isduplicatedwithothers, or the PoE IP
Phone sprevious registrationinformationisstillkept inthegatekeeper/proxyserverif
not unregisteredlasttime (this could happenedwhen the PoE IPPhone ispowered off
insteadof restarted fromthe menu item). If thepreviousregistrationinformation isnot
cleared, mayneedto wait about4minutes to let PoEIPPhoneregister successfully
again.
Security: meansthatthe account (username/password/H.323ID)is notcorrect,please
check your account again.
When the RegFail message displayed, the IPphonecannot make anycalls now.
But the menu selectionandtheonhook/offhookfunction can workOK.
When the PoEIPPhone is failed in registering to a H.323 gatekeeper or SIP
Means that thePoE IPphone is configured touse DHCPto get IPaddress, but the
DHCPprocedure failed(cannotfindaDHCPserver orthe DHCPserver rejected
the IPassignment).The IPphone cannot make anycalls andthe onhook/offhook

functions cannot work cannot hear anysoundon the handset andthespeaker.
Onlythemenu selection can work, now.
ThePoE IPphone will continuously tryto get theIPaddress fromthe DHCP server,
so, if the DHCPserver is responding,the DHCPFail()displaywillchangeto Hi()
displayto notifythat the PoE IPphoneisworking OK.
When the PoEIPPhone is set to usethePPPoEmethod for network connection,
but have someprobleminfinding thePPPoE server (ADSLmodem), the LCD
screenwill displaythefollowingmessage:
Means that the PoE IPphone isconfiguredto use PPPoEto get IPaddress, butthe
PPPoE procedure failed(cannot finda PPPoE server or the networkconnection
has someproblem). The IPphone cannot make anycalls, but the menu selection
andthe onhook/offhookfunctioncan workOK.
When the PoEIPPhone is set to usethePPPoEmethod for networkconnection,
but have someprobleminthe PPPoE account, the LCD screen will displaythe
followingmessage:
Means that the PoE IPphone isconfiguredto use PPPoEto get IPaddress, butthe
PPPoE server refusethe connectionbecause theusername/password is not
correct. The PoEIPphone cannot make anycalls, but themenu selection andthe
onhook/offhookfunctioncan workOK.
When the PoEIPPhone is enable the “Immediate Forward”, the LCD screen will
displaythe following message:

Means that theVIP-100PT is workingOK and readyforoutgoing/incoming calls.
But for anyincoming call, itwill be forwardedto the “ImmediateForward Number”;
this PoEIPPhone willnot ring.
2.3Call Forward Configurations
The PoEIPPhone supports three different kinds of call forward functions, please
select “Configure”→”Forward Mode”for these three kinds of selection:
2.3.1 Immediate Forward
Under “Forward Mode”submenu, users areable to setup for immediate forward
byselectingYes on (Yes/No) Immediate and input the number he/she wouldlike
the call to beforwarded to. For example, whenAcalls B, andBhas enabled the
immediate forwardwith number 555-5555 on the IP phone. In this circumstance,
this phone call fromA willbe forwarded to number 555-5555. Whenthe
“immediateforward”isenabled, the “busy forward”and “no answer forward”cannot
be enabledat the same time.
2.3.2 BusyForward
Under “Forward mode”submenu, users areable to setup for busyforwardby
selecting Yes on “(Yes/No) Busy”and input the number he/she would like the call
to beforwarded to when this phoneis busy(active). For example, whenA calls B,
andIP phone B is busyand “busyforward”has been enabled with number
555-5555, then, this phone call fromA willbe forwardedto number 555-5555.
2.3.3 No AnswerForward
Under “Forward mode”submenu, users areable to setup for no-answer forward
byselectingYes on “(Yes/No) No Answer”and input thenumber he/shewouldlike
the call to beforwarded towhen this phone is not answeredfor thespecified
seconds. For example, whenA callsB, andB s phoneisnotansweredandhas Yes
on “(Yes/No)NoAnswer”with number 555-5555 andno-answertime equals 10,
then, this phone callfromA will be forwardedto number 555-5555after ringing for
10 seconds no answered.

VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT are equipped with aweb-based graphical user interface that can cover
most configurations andmachinestatus monitoring. Via standard, web browser,youcanconfigure
and checkmachine status fromanywhere around the world.
Step 1.Browse the IP Address of yourIP phone
After TCP/IPconfigurationson the phone,you maynowopenyour web browser, andinput
machinedefault IPaddress 192.168.0.1 to logon VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT webconfiguration page.
Step 2.Input the login name and password
n Loginname: root
n Password: Null (nopassword)
Step 3.Enter the web interface main screen
After logging in machine, machine main screen is shown below.

Network, andfirmware information of thePoEIPPhone willbe displayedon machine
homepage; more machine configuration menu canbe found in the left frame:

Step 4.Start machine configurations
Most important items are Network Configuration and H.323/SIPConfiguration. Please
rememberto configurethesecommands before start to workwithVIP-100PT/VIP-150PT.

Please select the “Network Configuration”icon on the left menu; the following page will
displayto allowyou to set allthe networkrelated configurations
After parameter modifications, it is required to browse t

System Configuration”page to reboot VIP-100PT/VIP-
150PT to make
changes effective.

Network configurations:
•Dynamic IP: Enable/disable DHCPClient function.
•PPPoE: Enable/disable PPPoE function.
1.PPPoEUsername: Set PPPoE authentication User Name.
2.PPPoEPassword: Set PPPoEauthentication password.
•Fixed IP
3.IPAddress: IPAddress of VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT
4.Subnet Mask: setup the subnet maskof VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT
5.Default routing gateway: setupdefault gatewayofVIP-100PT/VIP-150PT
6.DNS Server: setup domain name server IPaddress.
Others:
•MAC Address: MAC address of thePoE IPPhone
•SNTP Server Address: setupSNTPServerAddress
•GMT: setuptimezone for SNTPServer time
•When SNTP server is available, enable VIP-100PT/VIP-
150PT SNTP
function to point to SNTP server IP address, so that
VIP-100PT/VIP-150PT can obtain proper tim
einformation from the
SNTP server.
•You may enable different time zone to meet the location of
VIP-100PT/VIP-
150PT. For example, the time zone in Taiwan should
be set as 8,which means GMT+8.
