Various symbols are used in this guide for easier understanding:

Useful advice and information to ensure correct and efficient workflow of
the system.
IMPORTANT
Specific details which are essential for trouble-free operation of the sys-
tem.
IMPORTANT
Important details which must be read for proper function of the system.
CAUTION
Against a potential hazardous situation that can lead to minor personal
injury and property damage.
WARNING
Against a latent hazardous situation that can lead to severe injuries or
death and cause substantial property damage.
DANGER
Against an imminent hazardous situation that can lead to severe injury or
death.
DANGER
Against an imminent or latent hazardous situation that could lead to
electric shock and cause serious injury or death.
Intended purpose of use
The system is designed exclusively for use as a pedestrian passage. The installation may only occur
in dry areas. If there are deviations then proper waterproofing and water drains will be required on-
site.
Any other application or use beyond this purpose is not considered to be an intended purpose. The
manufacturer bears no liability for any resulting damage; the operator alone shall bear the associated
risk.
The intended purpose also includes observation of the operating conditions specified by the manufac-
turer, in addition to regular care, maintenance and repair.
Interventions in or alterations to the installation performed by non-authorized maintenance technicians
exclude the manufacturer's liability for consequential damages.

General safety and accident prevention regulations
NOTICE
If necessary, the country specific regulations have to be adhered to.
NOTICE
This system is not intended to be used by persons (including children from
the age of 8) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or with a lack
of experience and/or knowledge. Unless they are supervised by a person
responsible for their safety or have received instructions from that person
on how to use the system.
Supervise children and ensure that they do not play at the system.
IMPORTANT
Improperly changing the settings can impair the proper and safe function-
ing of the system!
IMPORTANT
Do not allow children to play with the device or its regulating and/or control
devices, including remote controls.
IMPORTANT
When using motion detectors, make sure that no moving objects such as
flags, plants, etc. enter the detection areas of the motion detectors
IMPORTANT
In order to avoid malfunctions, the system must NOT be disconnected from
the mains overnight!
IMPORTANT
If malfunctions that endanger the safety of individuals occur, the system
must be turned off. It may not be turned back on until the problem has been
resolved by a professional and the danger no long exists.
IMPORTANT
Safety devices (e.g. sensors, protective wings) must not be dismantled or
put out of operation.
CAUTION
Malfunctions and risk of falling from debris gathering under the floor mat!
• Door breakdown, bruises, broken bones
The floor mat or floor covering must be even and securely installed.
Debris that gathers under the floor mat must be removed regularly.

CAUTION
Unexpected OPENING / CLOSING / ROTATION
• Bruises and contusions from the door wings/apron
No persons or objects are allowed in the opening area of the door.
No safety devices (sensors) should be removed or disabled.
Do not rush through a door that is already closing.
DANGER
Danger to life from electric current!
• Contact with live parts may result in immediate danger to life due to electric
shock. Damage to or removal of the insulation or individual components can
be life-threatening.
Before starting work on active parts of electrical systems and equipment,
make sure that they are de-energized and secured for the duration of the
work.
Keep moisture away from live parts. This can lead to a short circuit.
Never bridge fuses or put them out of operation.
Do not connect the power supply until all work has been completed.

Work on the electrical system must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Intervention rules on sites
Subject to general labor laws:
IMPORTANT
Before starting with inspection and maintenance, it is necessary to ensure
that a side entrance can be used by third parties. It is highly recommended
to have a pedestrian barrier around the complete door!
IMPORTANT
All repairs and service work must be performed by qualified personnel.
Technicians must have good general technical knowledge and a good
knowledge of the current standards and regulations.
IMPORTANT
Before starting work on the door, ensure that all equipment and tools are in
good working order and conform to current safety standards.
CAUTION
The safety of all persons must be ensured!
IMPORTANT
Do not change the components of the automation system in any way.

Labeling and information must be visible to everyone.

NOTICE
Ensure regularly that all safety systems are in good working order.
State of technology
This system was developed using state of the art technology and officially recognized technical safety
regulations. The system, depending on its options and diameter, comply with the requirements of the
Machine Guidelines 2006/42/EG as well as EN 16005 and DIN 18650 (D).
Nevertheless, danger may arise if not used as intended.
IMPORTANT
Installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair work may
only be conducted by qualified, trained and authorized technicians.
After commissioning or repair work, fill in the check list and give it to the
customer for safe keeping.
We recommend obtaining a service agreement.
Personal protective equipment
Personal protective equipment is used to protect persons from adverse effects on safety and health.
Personnel must wear personal protective equipment during the various work activities on and with the
system.
Personal protective equipment is explained below:
Hearing protection is used to protect the hearing from noise. As a rule of
thumb,
hearing protection is compulsory from when normal conversation
with other people is no longer possible.
The head protection serves to protect against falling and flying parts and
materials. It also protects the head from bumping into hard objects.
Protective goggles protect the eyes from flying parts, dust, splinters or
splashes.
Protective gloves are designed to protect hands from friction, abrasions,
punctures or serious injury and from burning caused by contacting hot
surfaces.

Safety shoes protect the feet from crushing, falling parts and slipping on
surfaces. The puncture resistance of the shoes ensures, that pointy
objects do not penetrate the foot.
The high-visibility vest is used to make the personnel stand out and
therefore to be seen. With improved visibility and attention, the high-
visibility vest protects personnel in busy work areas from collisions with
vehicles.
Depending on the place of work and the working environment, the protective equipment varies and
must be adapted accordingly. In addition to protective equipment for specific work, the work site may
require other protective equipment ( for example a harness).
In hygiene-protected areas, special or additional requirements of personal protective equipment may
be required. These requirements must be considered when choosing personal protective equipment.
If there is any uncertainty regarding the choice of personal protective equipment, the safety officer
must be consulted at the place of work.
Spare parts and liability
Reliable and trouble free operation of the door is only guaranteed when using parts that were recom-
mended by the manufacturer. The manufacturer declines any liability for damages resulting from un-
authorized modifications to the door or the use of parts that are not permitted.

Security inspection according EN 16005
Like the German standard DIN 18650, the EN 16005 describes the requirements and the test me-
thods for the safe use of power-operated pedestrian doors. The EN 16361 describes the require-
ments for the production process and documentation / classification of the doors.
The EN 16005 is valid for automatic sliding, folding, swing and revolving doors. It does not apply to
high speed doors (Speedcord).
We recommend that you organize and use your country-specific version of the EN 16005.
Terms and definitions
Term according to DIN

Description
Powered pedestrian
door
Door for pedestrian passage only with one or more wings that is moved, at
least in one direction, by an external energy supply (e.g. electrically) or by
means of stored energy.
Revolving door
Powered pedestrian door with one or more wings connected to a common
vertical axis of rotation within an enclosure.
Sliding swing door
Powered pedestrian door with a pivot point, through which the wings are
pushed sideways and can simultaneously perform rotational movement.
Swing door
Powered pedestrian door with a wing which is hinged or pivoted at one side
which opens both ways.
Folding doors
Door with two or more interconnected hinged wings, whereby one side of a
wing is hinged or pivoted from the upright frame part.
Sliding doors
Powered pedestrian door with one or more wings, which moves horizontally
and parallel in its guides to the adjoining construction.
Powered pedestrian
door with low energy
drive
Powered pedestrian door with limited kinetic energy.
Pivot fitting (Break-Out)
System whereby door wings and/or side screens can be pushed open ma-
nually in the direction of escape.
Monitoring system
System that checks and verifies the correct functioning of another system
and in the event of any malfunctioning of that system switches the powered
door to a selected safe mode of operation.
Activator - impulse ge-
nerator
Means by which the power operation of the door is started.
Cycle
Movement consisting of an opening and closing movement.
For revolving doors a cycle means a passage.
Lintel
Horizontal structural member spanning an opening at its head to carry a
load above the opening.
Side screen
Fixed construction that can be part of a powered pedestrian door assembly.
Track
Component or assembly designed to guide or support a door wing when it
moves.
Leading mullion - front
post
Door mullion at the first point at which a wing of a powered revolving door
passes the curved screens.
Trailing mullion - trailing
post
Door mullion at the last point at which a wing of a revolving door passes the
curved screens.
Fire door
A generic term used in this standard EN 16005 for fire resistance doors
and/or smoke control doors.

EN 16005
Description
Main closing edge
Edge of a door wing, whose distance from the parallel opposing closing
edge or opposing surface determines the usable open width.
Opposing / counter clo-
sing edge
Closing edge formed by the main closing edge of opposing closing wing, a
fixed edge or a surface, against which the wing moves (i.e. frame, floor).
Secondary closing edge
Every other closing edge of the door wing, which is not the main or oppo-
sing closing edge.
Protection during closing cycle
EN 16005 stipulates that a person must be detected from both sides of the door, on the whole travel
area of the doorset.
The reference body (700x300x200 mm) must be detected at any point of an area as wide as the
doorway and extending over a distance of 200 mm on both sides of the door axle.

NOTICE
A combination sensor Ixio DT3 (Performance Level "d") must be used on
the inside of doors in escape routes and emergency exits.
Protection during opening cycle
EN 16005 covers also personal safety during the opening cycle.
Depending on the situation, the danger point can be safeguarded as follows while opening:
1. by finishing profiles and safety distances
2. by protective screens
3. by presence sensing device (Ixio-ST in the side panel area. One sensor per door leaf)
4. by limitation of leaf force

NOTICE
The version with rubber finishing profiles is not EN 16005 compliant with
respect to the 8 mm distance.
Safety distances
Safety distances must be observed during the opening cycle.
A safety distance Y between secondary closing edge (rear edge of door leaf) and the adjacent parts
of the surroundings must be respected, depending on the distance X between the front part of the
door leaf and the fixed side screen (see Figure a).
In that case, the impact hazard and the hazard concerning crushing of the body are considered to be
not relevant and no more safeguard is required.
For telescopic doorsets, the reference leaf for the measurement is considered to be the one nearest
to the adjacent part of the surroundings.
▪If X ≤ 100 mm then Y ≥ 200 mm
▪If 100 mm < X ≤ 150 mm then Y ≥ 500 mm
▪If X > 150 mm then the door leaf opening movement must be safeguarded.

Safeguards concerning shearing and drawing-in hazards shall be deemed to have been provided at
the danger points during the opening cycle if safety distances shown in Figure b) and Figure d) are
met.

Protective screen
See Book B5 „Options“ Chapter „Protective screen“.
This is the safest solution for protection, especially as EN 16005 recommends solutions that avoid
any contact of the doorset with the user, provided that a large proportion of the users are elderly,
disabled persons and young children.
When using a protective screen:
▪The DIN aluminium finishing profiles are not required and rubber sealing profiles can also be
used.
▪The safety distances for the door leaf must not be observed.
Presence sensing device
The presence sensing device IXIO-ST monitors the secondary closing edge of the door and detects
persons in the opening area of the door leaves.
However, this solution is the least user-friendly. If a person is detected within the travel area of the
doorset leaves, the door does not open or only with reduced speed, when somebody wants to go
through the doorway.
Alternatives to IXIO-ST
IMPORTANT
Only products authorised according to EN 13849-1:2006, Performance Le-
vel „c“ may be used!

The wiring takes place on the programmable inputs of the STM or on the FEM 0 with parameterisation
of the SIO function.

General and additional requirements
Detection zone for sensor activation
Attention shall be paid to the provision and positioning of sufficient automatic activation devices (sen-
sors) for different types of doorset.
In the case of power-operated doorsets on escape routes without break-out function, the detection
zone in the escape direction shall be not less than 1500 mm measured from the centre of the opening
width of the doorset - and if possible 1000 mm for all other doors. The detection zone shall cover at
least the entire opening width of the doorset.
Solution:
Sensors must be set correctly during commissioning.
On escape routes and emergency exits, a combined sensor IXIO-DT3 must be installed on the inner
side.

Additional requirements for doorsets in escape routes and emergency exits
When an operating mode selector is used, the mode of operation shall be clearly identified and
marked on the operating mode selector.
If a "locked" mode of operation is available, the mode of operation shall be protected, e.g. by an ac-
cess code or a key, so that changes can only be made by authorised personnel.
Solution:
The system 20 RED with additional control unit BDE-V (night locking device with key-operated
switch).
Signage
Transparent leaves or leaf surfaces shall be clearly recognizable, e.g. by permanent marking, suitable
labels or by using colored materials.
Solution:
Affix adhesive strip or mark.
Guards
Protective measures such as enclosures, covers, enclosing guards or fixed protection leaves shall be
designed so that:
1. Persons cannot reach any danger point up to a height of 2,5 m above floor level;
2. They can only be removed or opened with the aid of a tool.
Solution:
This requirement can be met by using the option "lockable casing".
Commissioning and information for use
The operator shall be instructed during commissioning.
Moreover, he shall be provided with a user handbook including instructions for routine maintenance.
The recommended frequency for checking the correct operation of safety function and devices is, at
least, once a year and is to be carried out by professionals.
Furthermore, maintenance operations are required to be recorded in a log book, which is delivered to
the operator.
Solution:
Inform the operator about the necessity of maintaining and checking the safety function and empha-
sise the advantages of having a maintenance contract.
Deliver a log book, or place it in the drive.

General information
Purpose and use of the instructions
These instructions are an integral part of the system and enable efficient and safe handling of the sys-
tem. In order to ensure proper functioning, the instructions must be accessible at all times and kept in
the immediate area of the system.
Although only the male form has been chosen for reasons of better legibility, the information refers to
members of both sexes.
The operator must have read and understood the manual before starting any work. The basic requi-
rement for safe working is to follow the safety instructions and the handling instructions. In addition,
the local regulations and safety rules apply.
The manual can be handed over in extracts to instructed personnel who are familiar with the operati-
on of the system.
The illustrations are for basic understanding and may differ from the actual presentation. Specific re-
presentations are contained in the drawings.

General definitions of terms
The following terms are used in manuals for easier understanding:

Whenever instructions refer to a specific design, it will be spe-
cifically emphasized in the text.
Manufacturer
The manufacturer of the system is the company Blasi GmbH,

Operator
The operator of the system is referred to as the owner, regar-
dless whether he operates it as owner or discloses it to a third
party.
Personnel
All individuals referred to as personnel are those who perform
any task on or with the system during its lifespan and are quali-
fied to perform such task according to the manufacturers crite-
ria and are therefore deemed authorized.
Expert
Expert refers to all individuals who are authorized to carry out
specific tasks on the system based on their qualifications.
For example, an electrician specialized in connecting the sys-
tem to the main power supply is considered a expert.
Service technician
Experts and specialists or representative authorized by the
manufacturer to perform commissioning, maintenance and

Opening and security sensors (combined)
Each passage area is monitored with opening and security sensors. If an opening or security sensor
is activated during the closing process while in AUTOMATIC or ONEWAY TRAFFIC operating mode,
then the respective sliding door will re-open/reverse again.
Collision detection
If a door wing hits an obstacle during the closing process, then the door will stop immediately and re-
open.
Equally, the door wing will stop immediately if the door hits an obstacle during the opening process.
The opening process will start anew after 3 seconds at extra slow speed.
Security sensors side panel
The opening area of the door wing (inside) is monitored by security sensors. The function of the sen-
sors is tested before each opening. If there is detection during the opening process, the door will stop
immediately and closes again.

Selection of operating modes (BDE-D)
The electronic control unit BDE-D is a user-friendly input/output module to control and customise (op-
tional) the system operation. The backlit LCD display informs about the system status by means of
symbols and plain text. Error messages are displayed as text.
