SATRA Technology Center No. CE 2777.
5. Product Control and Validation
5.1 Before every single use:
Working at height equipment must be used as personalized. These
products must be controled on regular basis before and after each single
use and findings must be recorded into product control register sheet. On
an adequate lightening environment apply following controls by lying the
product on a flat surface,
* Any damage on main surface,
* Any damage on the wire rope,
* Any damage on connecting points,
* Functioning of recractable fall arrester,
* Fall indicator funtioning,
* Labels should be secure and legible.
During the controls if at least one of these deviation is found, usage of
the equipment should be suspended or retired and immediately send back
to producer for detailed inspection. No repair is allowed by unauthorised
person. Only manufacturer directions should be applied.

the system are correctly positioned with respect to each other.

6.2 Anchor Point
The anchor point of the system comprises this product should preferably
be located above the user or should at least at the waist level of the user.
An attachment point below this level will cause a serious injury or death.
The anchor point must conform to the requirements of the EN 795 stan-
dard and the minimum strength of it must be 12 kN.
6.3 Various Situation
* A Recracteble Fall Arrester is the only device allowable for supporting the
body in a fall arrest system.
* It is essential to verify that a minimum 4 mt height of free space is avail-
able between the Retractable Fall Arrester & the ground at the work place,
so that in case of a fall, there will be no collision with the ground or other
obstacle in the fall path.
* Make sure that the anchor point is correctly positioned, in order to limit
the risk and the height of a fall.
* When using multiple pieces of equipment together, a dangerous situation
can result if the safety function of one piece of equipment is affected by the
safety function of another piece of equipment.
* Users must be medically fit for activities at height. Warning, inert suspen-
sion in a harness can result in serious injury or death.
* The instructions for use must be provided to users of this equipment in
the language of the country in which the product is to be used.
* Following conditions may be hazardous & may affect the performance of
Retractable Fall Arrester:
* Extreme tempratures.
* Trailing or looping of Lanyards over sharp edges.
* Extreme acidic or basic environments.
* Abrasive or sharp edge structures which can damage the equipment.
* Pendulum falls.
7. Kaya General Inforrmation
7.1 Life Time:
Although the potential life time of a retractable fall arrester is 10 years
from the date of production, it is very difficult to define the exact service
life of it as it varies according to the frequency and intense of use, environ -
mental conditions, correct maintenance and storage. Recommended life
expectancy of this retractable fall arrester is 5 years from date of first use.
If the product has one of the deviations below
it should be withdrawn from service immediately and should be destroyed
to prevent further usage.
* It has suffered a high shock load or has had a load dropped onto it.
* There is discoloration, stiffness, cuts and tears, glazed or fused areas on
the webbingg.
* There are cracks, deformation, corrosion or excessive wear on the metal
parts
* It fails to pass inspection (before usage or detailed inspection)
* Labels (markings) are illegible or absent
* It is extremely dirty and does not respond to normal washing.
* It has come into contact with chemicals and especially acids or is even
suspected.
* Its history is unknown.
* Its life time stated in the user’s manual has expired or even it has never
been used.

4. Product Usage
4.1 EN 360:2002 Retractable Fall Arrester
This Retractable Fall Arrester can be used
as a part of a fall arrest system or as a part
of a restraint system. If using as a part of
fall arrest system, a suitable anchor point
(above the user’s head, at least 12 KN) shall
be used. Attachments to the anchor points
andother equipment shall be made using oval
Carabiners to EN 362. The equipment is to be
used specifically in vertical condition & not
tobe used for horizontal usage. Material of the
retractable fall arrester’s rope is galvanized
steel wire rope of dia 4.7 mm.
How to Use :
Follow Step 1 to Step 2 to use this equipment.
Step 1: Connect the swivel eye at the top of
the Retractabel Fall Arrester to a suitable
anchorage point situated above the user’s
headusing Karabiners as per EN 362 & ensure
the Karabiner is locked.
Step 2: Now connect the swivel hook of the
equipment to the attachment element of your
full body harness and ensure that it is locked.
