•TaketheMMCMemorycardoutoftheboxandinsertwiththelabelupwardintothe

memorycardslotonthecontrolpanellabelled“MMC”.

•Takethepoweradapterandinsertthesmallplugintothe6vDCsocketonthemain

panel.

•Plugtheotherendofthepoweradapterintoasuitable220Vwallsocket.Switchon.



andrecognition.With64pre‐recordedsounds‐somewillmakeyoulaugh,somewillevoke

memoriesandsomewillstimulatetheimagination.Soundscanbeassociatedwithstories

yourelate‐usethemtosetthesceneandprovideanaudiblebackdroptoyournarration.

Clientsofallabilitiescanjoinin.



Pre‐recordedsoundsaredividedinto8groups:people,hygiene,indoor,animal,vehicles,

city,who'sjob?andvarious.Soundsinclude:telephone,noseblowing,whistling,burping,

applause,cuckoo,cow,pig,doorbell,ship,car,churchbells,conversationandfireworks.



Thelargerectangularbuttonsonthebackingboardmirrorthefunctionsoftheroundkeys

onthekeyboard.Whenabuttonispressed,thewallboardsendsaninfrared(IR)signalto

thekeyboardandthecorrespondingkeyboardbuttonisactivated.



OPERATION

Play

ThePre‐recordedsoundshavebeensplitupinto8groupswhichareselectedbyusingthe

“Mode”buttonsonthecontrolpanel.Pressinganyofthe8buttonsonthefrontofthe

Palettowillactivate1of8soundsfromtheselectedgroup.TheredLEDindicatesthata

playbuttonhasbeenpressed.Theentiresoundwillplaybeforeanotherbuttoncanbe

activated.Whilstasoundisbeingplayed,allfunctionsbeside‘volume’aredeactivated.



Recording

SoundGroups9to16areusedforstoringyourownrecordingswhichcanbefromthe

includedmicrophoneviathe“Mic”SocketoranotheraudiodevicesuchasaCDplayeror

Mp3playerviathe“LineIn”socket.Asuitablecableforconnectingthedevicestothe“line

in”canbepurchasedfrommosthi‐fiequipmentshops.Anerrormessageisplayedifyou

attempttorecordwithinoneofthesoundgroupswithpermanentsounds.



Therecordfunctionisselectedbypressingthe“Rec”buttononthecontrolpanel.Pressing

thebuttononce,willselectrecordingfromaconnectedmicrophoneandaspokenmessage

willbeheard.Pressingthebuttonagainwillselectrecordingfromthe‘LineIn’.The

followingaudioequipmentmaybeusedfor‘LineIn’recording:MP3players,cassette

players,CDplayers,computers.

Thedifferencebetweenrecordingviaamicrophoneandrecordingviathe‘LineOn’portis

that‘LineIn’playsthesoundduringrecording.Thisdoesnothappenwhenrecordingviaa

microphone.

PressingthebuttononcemorewillreturnthePalettotoitsnormalmode.



1.Select“soundgroup9”viathemodebuttonsreadyforrecording.

2.ConnectthedeviceyouwishtorecordfromtothePalettoviatheappropriatesocket.

3.Selectthesourceyouarerecordingfromviathe“Rec”buttonandavoicewillstatethe

selectedmode.

4.AlltheLED’sshouldnowbeflashingandthePalettoisnowreadytorecordyoursound.

5.Press1ofthe8buttonsyouwanttorecordthesoundtoandthiswillactivatetherecord

function.

6.RecordingsinprogressareindicatedbytheLEDbeingcontinuouslyilluminated.

7.Thenewrecordingswillreplacetheoldrecordingsonthebutton(SoundGroups1‐8can

notberecordedonandwillgenerateanerrormessage).

8.Recordingscanbestoppedbypressingthesame“play”buttonasfirstselectedandthen

theMMCwillbeupdatedwiththerecordedinformation(thiscantakeafewseconds).

WhenFinishedthePalettowillplaybackthelastsoundrecorded.

9.ThePalettoshouldthenreturnbacktothenormalmodeaftertherecordingasbeen

stopped.

10.Repeatthisprocedureforeachrecording.



NB:IfthememorycapacityoftheMMCcardisfullitwillbenecessarytoreplaceexisting

sounds.AspokenmessageannounceswhenthememorycapacityoftheMMCcardisfull.If

thememorybecomesfullduringarecording,therecordingwillstopandthemessagewill

playback.





DeletingSounds

Individualsoundscannotbecompletelydeleted,butalongsoundcanbereplacedbya

shortedone,freeingupmemoryontheMMCcard.



Theentiregroupofsounds(Group9)canbedeletedbyselecting“Soundgroup9“andthen

holdingthe“Scan”buttondownforatleast5seconds,thenreleasethebutton.



AlltheLED’sonthePalettoshouldLightandturnofffromlefttoright.WhenanLEDturns

offthesoundasbeendeleted.WhenalltheLED’shaveturnedofftheunitwillreturnback

to“Normalmode”.





Wallmounting

•Itisrecommendedthatyoutesttheproductworksbeforeattachingittothewall.

•MounttheWallPalettoontothewallbearinginmindthefollowing:

‐Thereare4pre‐drilledholesonthePalettotofacilitatewallmounting

‐Fixturesarenotincluded–purchasefixingsthatareappropriatetothe

constructionofyourwallandthatcancomfortablyholdtheweightofthis

product:16kg

•Makesurethatyoucanaccessallcables–hangthemoverthetoptowardsthefront

SettingUp

•Oncethewhitebackboardissecurelyattachedtothewall,connectthemaleplugof

thepowersupplytotheDCfemaleconnectorattachedtotheelectronicsboxatthe

backofthewhiteboard.Thefemaleconnectorisasocketandiswiderthanthe

malesocket.

•Locatethefourproudscrewsonthewhiteboard–thekeyboardismountedonto

these.Alignthekeyholesinthebackofthekeyboardwiththeproudscrewsofthe

whitebackboard.Pushgentlyonandthendown.Pleasenote:thisisintentionally

notapermanentfixing–thekeyboardisintendedtobeeasilyremovedfortabletop

use.Ifthekeyboardistobeusedwithoutthewhitebackboard,connectthemale

plugfromthepowersupplydirectlyintothe6vDCsocketofthekeyboard.

•Themaleplugfromthebackofthewhiteboardconnectstothekeyboard(socket

labelled6vDC).

•PleaseignoretheIRfunctions–thesearenotcompatiblewithROMPA®products..

14. CareandMaintenance



•Regularlychecktheproductfordamageandceaseuseifdamagefound.

•Useonlytheadaptersupplied.Ceaseuseifthisbecomesdamaged.

•UseonlyPalettomemorycards.

•Takeallappropriatemeasurestoavoidunsuperviseduseandphysicaldamage.Do

notstrikeordropthePaletto.

•ProtectthePalettofromdustasmuchaspossible.

•DonotattempttoaccesstheinteriorofthePaletto.

•CleanthePalettowithacloththathasbeenveryslightlydampenedwithamild

soap‐basedsolution.Wipedryimmediatelywithadrycloth.

•NeverallowthePalettotobecomewet.ProtectthePalettoandallitspartsfrom

moisture.

•MakesurethePalettoisNOTconnectedtoanadapterandpluggedinwhen

removingorinsertingthememorycard.Thismaydestroydatastoredonthe

memorycard.

•Oncethisproductiseventuallyexhausted,pleasedisposeofitappropriatelyand

responsibly.



Problem:NosoundscanbeheardandnoLED’slightupwhenpressingtheplaybuttonsof

thePaletto

•CheckthattheadapterisconnectedtothePalettoandthewallsocket



Problem:NosoundscanbeheardbuttheLED’slightupwhenthe“play”buttonsare

pressed

•CheckthattheMMCcardhasbeeninsertedcorrectly.

•Checkwhichsoundgroupisselected.Itispossiblethatnosoundhasbeenrecordedyet.



Problem:Anerrormessageisplayedwhenrecording

•Checkthatthesoundgroups9to16areselected.Onlygroups9to16allowrecording.



Problem:Recordingisimmediatelyinterrupted

•TheMMCisfull.FreeupsomespaceontheMMCbyrecordingshortersoundsordeleting.


