2 Preparation before Installation
2.1 SafetySuggestions
To avoid personal injuryandequipmentdamage,please carefullyreadthe safety suggestionsbeforeyou installthe
RG-EG V2 series router.
The followingsafetysuggestionsdo notcover all possibledangers.
2.1.1 Installation
Keepthe chassis clean andfree from anydust.
Do notplacethe equipmentina walkingarea.
Do not wearloose clothes or accessoriesthatmaybehookedor caughtby the device duringinstallation and
maintenance.
2.1.2 Movement
Do notfrequentlymovethe device.
When movingthe device,note the balance andavoid hurtinglegs andfeet or strainingthe back.
Before movingthe device, turn off allpowersupplies and dismantleallpowermodules.
2.1.3 Electricity
Observe local regulations and specifications when performing electric operations. Relevant operators must be
qualified.
Before installing the device, carefully check any potential danger in the surroundings, such as ungrounded power
supply,and damp/wetgroundorfloor.
Before installing the device, find out the locationof the emergencypowersupplyswitchin the room. First cut off the
powersupplyin the caseof an accident.
Try to avoid maintainingtheswitchthatis powered-on alone.
Be sureto makea carefulcheck before you shutdown the powersupply.
Do not place the equipmentin a damp location.Donot let any liquid enterthe chassis.
Any non-standardandimpropriate electricoperations maycauseanaccidentsuchas a fire or electricalshock,thus
causingsevere evenfatal damageto humanbodiesandequipment.
Direct or indirecttouchthrougha wet objecton high-voltageand commercialelectricitymaybringa fatal danger.
If a powersupplysystem isequipped with aleakageprotector(alsoreferredtoas "leakagecurrentswitch"or"leakage
currentbreaker"), the rated leakage action current of each leakageprotector is greater than twice of the theoretical
maximum leakage current of all the power supplies in the system. For example, if a system is equippedwith eight
identicalpowersupplies,the leakage current of each powersupplyis equal to or less than3.5 mA, and the leakage
currentof the system totals 56mA. A leakageprotectorwith30 mArated actioncurrent supports lessthanfive power

supplies(thatis,Action currentof the leakageprotector/2/Maximum leakagecurrent ofeachpowersupply=30/2/3.5
= 4.28). In other words, the leakage protector with 30 mA rated action current supports no more than four power
supplies. In this case, the sixteen power supplies in the system require at least four leakageprotectors with 30 mA
rated action current and each leakage protectorsupports fourpowersupplies.If powersupplies ina system differin
models,the ratedleakageactioncurrentofeachleakage protectordividedbytwois greaterthanthesumofmaximum
leakagecurrents ofall thepowersupplies.Theratedleakagenon-action currentofa leakageprotectorshall be50%
of the leakageactioncurrent. Take a leakageprotectorwith 30 mArated leakage action currentas an example.The
rated leakage non-action currentshallbe 15 mA. When the leakagecurrent is below15 mA, the protector shallnot
act. Otherwise, misoperation mayeasilyoccur due to high sensitivityand thus the leakage protector trips, devices
are poweredoff,and services are interrupted.
To guaranteepersonalsafety,the ratedleakageactioncurrentofeachleakageprotectorinthesystem mustbeequal
to or less than 30mA(humanbodysafetycurrent is 30 mA). Whentwice of the total leakagecurrentof the system is
greaterthan 30 mA, the system mustbeequippedwithtwo or moreleakageprotectors.
For the leakagecurrentvalue of each powersupplymodel,see the powersupplymodelparametertableinChapter
1.
2.1.4 Static Discharge Damage Prevention
To prevent damagefrom static electricity, pay attentionto the following:

2.2 InstallationSite Requirements
To ensurethenormalworkingand a prolongeddurablelifeof the equipment,theinstallation sitemustmeetthefollowing
requirements.
2.2.1 Installation Site
If the router is installedinthecabinet,the following requirements shallbemet:
Make suresufficientroom has beenreservedfor the air intake and air vent of routerto facilitatethe heatelimination
of the router chassis.
Make surethe cabinetis equipped witha goodventilationand coolingsystem.
Make sure the cabinetand workbench is steadyenoughand capable of withstandingtheweightof the routerand its
accessories.
Make surethe cabinetis properlygrounded.
2.2.2 Ventilation
For the router, a sufficientspace (at least10cm distances from bothsidesand thebackplane of the cabinet) shouldbe
reservedat the ventilation openings toensurethe normal ventilation.After various cables havebeenconnected,they
shouldbearrangedintobundles orplacedonthe cablingrack to avoid blockingthe airinlets. It is recommendedtoclean

the router at regularintervals (like once every 3 months).Especially,avoid dustfrom blockingthe screenmeshon the
back of the cabinet.
2.2.3 Temperature and Humidity
To ensure the normaloperationandprolongthe servicelife of router, you should keep propertemperature and humidity
in the equipmentroom.
If the equipmentroom has temperatureandhumiditythat do not meetthe requirements fora long time, the equipment
maybe damaged.
In an environmentwithrelatively highhumidity,the insulating materialmayhave badinsulationoreven leak
electricity. Sometimesthe materialsmaysufferfrom mechanicalperformancechangeandmetallicparts mayget
rusted.
In an environmentwithrelatively lowhumidity, however, the insulatingstripmaydry andshrink.Static electricity
mayoccur easilyandendangerthe circuiton the equipment.
In an environmentwithhightemperature,the equipmentis subjecttoeven greaterharm,as its performancemay
degradesignificantlyand various hardwarefaults mayoccur.

The requirements for the samplingsite of the temperature and humidityin the operating environment of the device
are as follows:
There is noprotective plate at the front or back of the equipmentrack.
The vertical heightis 1.5 m above the floor.
The distancefrom thefront panelofthe equipmentis 0.4m.
2.2.4 Cleanness
Dustposes aseverethreat to the runningof the equipment.Theindoordustfallingon the equipmentmaybeadheredby
the staticelectricity, causingbadcontactof the metallicjoint.Such electrostaticadherencemayoccurmoreeasilywhen
the relative humidityis low,not onlyaffecting the usefullifeofthe equipment,butalsocausingcommunicationfaults.

Apart from dust,the salt,acid and sulfide inthe airin the equipmentroom mustalsomeetstrictrequirements,as such
poisonoussubstancesmayacceleratethecorrosionofthe metalandthe agingof someparts.The equipment room
shouldbeprotectedfrom the intrusionofharmful gases suchas sulfurdioxide,sulfured hydrogen,nitrogen dioxide,and
chlorine.

2.2.5 Grounding
A good groundingsystem is thebasis forthe stable andreliableoperationofthe RG-EGV2 series router.Itis the chief
conditionto prevent lightningstrokeand resistinterference.Pleasecarefullycheckthe groundingconditions onthe
installation siteaccording tothe groundingrequirements,and perform groundingoperations properlyas required.
Lightning Grounding
The lightningprotectionsystem ofa facility is an independentsystem thatconsists ofthelightning rod, download
conductorandthe connector to the groundingsystem,which usuallysharesthe powerreferenceground and
yellow/greensafetycableground.The lightningdischargegroundis forthe facilityonly, irrelevant to the equipment.
EMC Grounding
The groundingrequiredforEMC designincludes shieldingground,filterground,noise andinterference suppression,and
level reference.All the above constitutethe comprehensivegrounding requirements.The resistance ofearthwires
should be less than 1Ω.
RG-EG V2 is a class Aproduct.In a domesticenvironment,this productmaycauseradiointerferenceinwhichcase
the usermayberequiredto take adequatemeasures.
2.2.6 EMI
Electro-MagneticInterference (EMI), from either outsideor insidetheequipmentorapplicationsystem,affects the
system inthe conductive ways suchas capacitive coupling,inductive coupling,andelectromagneticradiation.
There aretwo types of electromagneticinterference:radiatedinterference andconductedinterference,dependingonthe
type of the transmission path.
When the energy, often RF energy, from a componentarrives at a sensitive componentviathe space,the energyis
knownas radiatedinterference.The interference sourcecanbeeither a part of the interferedsystem or a completely
electricallyisolatedunit.Conductedinterferenceresults from theelectromagneticwireorsignalcableconnection
betweenthe sourceand the sensitivecomponent,alongwhichcabletheinterferenceconducts from oneunitto another.
Conductedinterferenceoften affects the powersupplyof the equipment,butcan be controlledbya filter. Radiated
interferencemayaffect any signalpathin the equipmentand is difficultto shield.
Effective measuresshouldbetakenfor the powersystem to prevent the interference from the electric grid.
The workinggroundof the routers shouldbeproperlyseparatedand keptas far as possible from thegrounding
device of the electricalequipmentorthe anti-lightninggroundingdevice.
Keepthe equipmentawayfrom high-powerradio transmitter,radartransmitting station,andhigh-frequencylarge-
current device.
Measures mustbetakento shieldstaticelectricity.

3 Installing the Router

3.3 MountingtheRouter
3.3.1 Mounting the Router to a Standard 19-inch Cabinet
Please note that RG-EG105G V2 and RG-EG105G-P V2 can not be mountedtoa cabinet.
3.3.2 Mounting the Router to a Workbench
Pleaseplacethe router ona cleanworkbench.Theoperationis as follows:
Step 1: Attach the four rubberpads to the four corners onthe bottom.
Step 2: Place the routeron the workbenchandensure goodventilationconditionaround the router.
3.4 InstallingPower Cables
RG-EG105G V2 router uses 2-conductorpowercables.You are suggestedtouse asingle-phase2-conductoroutletor a
multifunction microcomputeroutletwithneutral connector.
RG- EG105G-P V2 series router uses 3-conductor power cables.You are suggested to use a single-phase 3-conductor
outletoramultifunction microcomputeroutletwithneutralconnector.The neutralpointofthepowersupplyshall besecurely
groundedinthebuilding.Inmostbuildings,theneutral pointofapowersupplyhas beengroundedduringthe construction.
You needto makesurethe power supplyis properlygrounded.
Pleasetake the followingsteps:
Plugone endof the powercableintothe powersocketof therouter, andplugthe otherendinto the AC powersupply
outlet.
Check whetherthe powerLED on the front panelof the router lights up or not. The LED indicatorwilllightup if the
powersupplyis properly connected.
3.5 ConnectingtheExternalPortCables
Step 1: Connectone endof the RJ45connectorto the Ethernetinterface of the device board,and the otherend to the
NMS or a control terminal.
Step 2: Insert the twistedpairwith the RJ45 port into the appropriateinterfaceaccordingtothe identificationonthe panel
of the module.Distinguish the crossovercableand straight-throughcable.
3.6 InstallationVerification
Verifying the Cabinet
Verify ifthe external powersupplymatches the distribution panelof the cabinet.
After equipmentis installed,verify if the front/back cabinetdoors canbe closed.
Verify that the cabinethas beenfastenedcompletely,anddoes notmove or tilt.

Verify that the equipmenthas been installedinthecabinet,andall the cables havebeenfastenedto the cabinet.
Verifying the Cables
Verify that the fibers and twistedpairs matchthe ports.
Verify that the cables have been boundproperly.

4 System Debugging
4.1 Establishingthe DebuggingEnvironment
Establishing the DebuggingEnvironment
Connectthe PC to the LAN port of the router, andconfigure the PC to obtain an IP address automatically.
Or connectthe cableof AP to the LAN port of the router. After the AP is poweredon, it will broadcastthe SSID starting
with @Ruijie-m.You can connectto the SSID for configuration.

4.2 StartupCheck
4.2.1 Checkingbefore the Device is Poweredon
The powercableis correctly connected.
The powersupplyvoltage complies with therequirementofthe router.
The cableof the PC is properlyconnected to the LAN port of the router. The parametersettings are correct.
4.2.2 Checking after Program Startup (Recommended)
After power-on,you are recommendedtoperform thefollowingchecks toensurethe normal operationoffollow-up
configurations.
Checkwhetherthe status of the device indicatoris normal.
