Chapter 1 Product Overview
The Ruijie RSR77 series router is a data communication product independently developed by Ruijie
Networks Co. Ltd. by using advanced semiconductor technologies and communication control
technologies. Ruijie RSR77 series router is developed in full compliance with international standards;
therefore, it is similar to major routers in terms of use and configuration approach. Network administrators
who are familiar with the configuration commands of major routers may use the routers without receiving
training first.
About theRSR77
Adopting distributed and modularized design, Ruijie RSR77 series routers boast robust processing
capacity and greater access density and support dual master hot standby and redundant power supplies,
providing users with abundant optional modules. They can serve as either core routers on large-sized
Intranet or convergence-layer routers on large-sized industrial network.
Equipped with high-performance microprocessor and running the proprietary network operating system
independently developed by Ruijie Networks, Ruijie RSR77 series routers support BGP routing protocol
and IP multicast protocol and boast high forwarding rate and rich QoS features. It can provide all-around
network solutions for telecom, dedicated network, ISP, banking, taxation, public security, and railway
users, as well as for large- and medium-sized businesses.
There are three models for this series, namely RSR7704, RSR7708 and RSR7716, which are all
modularized routers.
RSR7704 has four horizontal slots, supports dual master control modules and the redundant
backup of master control module, and provides two horizontal service slots to support up to four
service processing modules.
RSR7708 has six horizontal slots, supports dual master control modules and the redundant backup
of master control module, and provides four horizontal service slots to support up to eight service
processing modules.
RSR7716 has ten horizontal slots, supports dual master control modules and the redundant backup
of master control module, and provides eight horizontal service slots to support up to 16 service
processing modules.
Except for the chassis, control module and fan tray, all other line cards can be used on any model, and
the following modules are supported:
