NOTE:
Before operating, read, follow, and understand these operating
instructions thoroughly.
Our machines are delivered partially assembled ex works.
Incorrect assembly, maintenance, improper repair of fault, and faulty
operation can lead to reduced performance as well as accidents and a
loss of warranty coverage.
The use of non-manufacturer supplied spare parts, accessories and
additional equipment, which are not expressly approved by the
company SaMASZ, can negatively alter the prescribed properties and
impair the operational safety.
For damages arising from the above-mentioned actions, any liability is
excluded by the company SaMASZ.

1. IDENTIFYING THE MACHINE
Data plate is mounted to the roller main frame in the place shown below Fig. 1.

NOTE:
It is forbidden to drive the machine on public roads with damaged, illegible or
missing identification plate.
2. INTRODUCTION
❑This operator’s manual should be considered as the basic machine equipment. If the machine is
handed over to another operator, it should be in working condition and given away along with
operator’s manual and it’s other basic equipment.
❑Operator’s manual is attached to every machine in order that the operator can familiarize himself
with design, working principles, service and adjustment of the machine. The user of the silage roller
should be familiar with common safety rules and procedures.
❑The machine is manufactured according to international safety rules.
❑Compliance with the warnings in this operator’s manual will ensure safe operation.
❑Please contact your dealer if you have any queries relating to the operation and service of
the machine.
❑This operator’s manual is an indispensable part of any machine and is intended to familiarize future
user with principles of proper operation and use of the machine as well as the risks involved.
3. SPECIFICATIONS
3.1. Intended use
The silage rollers IMPACT essentially consist of a rigid rolling element and a 3-point attachment
for the tractor hydraulics.
The SaMASZ silage rollers are suitable for compacting silage, while vehicles with up to 17t of
weight can be hitched and towed with the rear towing frame.
To increase the weight of the roller body and the main frame can be filled with water.

IMPORTANT:
If there is a risk of freezing temperatures, the silage roller must be completely
drained of water. Failure to drain the water can result in damage.
In the event of a request for unintended use, it is essential to discuss the conditions of use with
the customer service management of SaMASZ and to follow their instructions accordingly.
Any other use is not permitted and is considered as improper use. It can be dangerous and
cause serious damage to people, property, and the environment.
Observe the relevant accident prevention regulations and the applicable appropriate health and
safety relevant safety rules and regulations for the local application.
A transport of people, objects, and animals in or on the silage roller is strictly prohibited.
For travel with the silage roller on public roads, the local regulations of the highway and road
code apply.
WARNING!
Observe and comply with regional traffic regulations. Failure to comply with
these regulations can lead to accidents, injury, and even death. DO ALL
POSSIBLE TO AVOID ACCIDENTS!!
In particular, observe the regulations of the currently valid version of the Highway Code for the
requirements for lighting, marking and dimensions of vehicles, trailers and attachments, for use in
public traffic areas.
As a complement to this please note the amendments in Section 7. Transport and storage of this
manual.
Further restrictions of use due to the risk of property damage and personal injury (incomplete
listing):
❑Do not use for compacting piles of wood or brush.
❑Do not use for raking.
❑Not suitable for the transport of animals, people, or objects.
❑Do not use for demolition work or road construction.
❑Do not use as mounting platform for vehicles or other equipment.
❑Do not use as a crane or hoist.
Intended use also includes compliance with the operating, maintenance and servicing conditions
prescribed by the manufacturer.

4.1. Notes on the operating instructions
❑The operating instructions have been designed so that you can work safely with your machine.
❑People who have not read or do not understand these instructions, must not be allowed to operate
this machine.
❑Read these instructions thoroughly before operating this machine and pay particular attention to
the safety instructions.

❑These operating instructions are intended for people with basic technical knowledge, and a
understanding of the handling of equipment such as that which is described here.
❑If you have no previous experience with the operation of equipment such as that described here,
you should consult with people who have such experience.
❑Keep all documents with the machine so you can consult with them as needed. The proof of
purchase should also be kept with the machine for possible use in warranty cases.
❑If this machine is to be lent out or sold, please ensure that a copy of these operating instructions is
are supplied.
❑Observe the operating and maintenance instructions found within this manual.
❑The manufacturer accepts NO liability for damages that occur from improper following of this
manual and the operating instructions.
4.2. For personal safety
❑In addition to the safety instructions found within this manual, please observe general safety
procedures!
❑Unauthorized modifications to machine will exclude the manufacturer’s responsibility of liability for
damages!
❑The attached warning and safety decals provide important information for safe and secure
operation of the machine.
❑Decals and labels must not be defaced or made illegible. If this occurs, they should be replaced
immediately with originals from the manufacturer.
❑In principle, the operator needs to familiarize himself or herself with all equipment functions and
controls before operation.
❑The operator must avoid loose fitting clothing, wear safety shoes, and have work gloves available.
❑Verify the surrounding area before operation! (Watch for animals and children!)
❑Only operate the machine in conditions with sufficient visibility.
❑To avoid the risk of overheating and fire, keep the machine clean!
❑Avoid crushing and shearing risks where there are moving parts!
❑Keep children clear of the machine at all times.
❑Do not operate the machine after consuming alcohol, while you under the influence of medication
or drugs. These can interfere with your ability to react.
❑This machine is not intended to be operated by people (including children) with limited mental
abilities and/or a lack of experience and/or knowledge. Unless proper supervision is provided by a
person responsible for their safety and capable of providing proper input on the operation of the
machine.
❑Protection shields, and guards must be kept in place.
❑The operator or user is responsible for accidents involving other people and any resulting property
damage.
❑The manufacturer accepts no liability for damages or injury because these operating instructions
have not been followed.
❑Coupling must only be done according to the regulations and only to proper vehicles!
❑Special care must be taken when connecting to or disconnecting from the tractor.
❑Do not enter into the turning and folding areas of the machine!

❑No person should be allowed to stand between the tractor and the machine, without the tractor and
machine being secured against movement or accidental start-up!
❑The operator is responsible and accountable for:
oThe regional and workplace specific regulations are adhered to and followed by
personnel at all times.
oOperation is done only in technically proficient condition.
oThe maintenance and repair procedures specified in the manual are adhered to and
documented in writing.
❑Before exiting the tractor cabin, the tractor must be secured against movement and accidental
start-up.
4.3. Safety instructions and initial START-UP
❑The tractor and implement combination must be verified by qualified personnel to ensure
compliance with the safety instructions before initial start-up.
❑Only people involved in the operation and start-up of the machine are to be allowed within the
operating area.
❑All loads, features, and functions are to be verified by qualified personnel.
4.4. Safety instructions and maintenance
❑All maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and adjustments must be carried out with the machine stationary
position with the tractor switched-off! Secured against accidental start-up!
❑Verify that all bolts and nuts are tight and retighten if necessary.
❑Use suitable tools and PPE (work clothes, safety shoes, gloves, and protection) when working on
the equipment.
❑Properly dispose of oil, grease, and filters.
❑When undertaking electrical welding, the machine must be disconnected from the tractor.
❑Spare parts must meet the technical specifications of the manufacturer. For example, original
spare parts.
❑Maintenance work must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
❑Before carrying out maintenance work, turn-off the tractor and secure it against accidental start-up.
❑Any moving parts must be secured against movement.
❑Use only proper and functioning tools.
❑For safe operation, maintenance work must be performed at the scheduled and recommended
intervals.
4.5. Safety instructions for operation
❑Only qualified people are to operate this machine.
❑People operating this machine must be instructed regarding its operation and prove that they
understand it’s operation before use.
❑The appropriate safety equipment must be determined by the operator and ensure that it meets
local safety requirements.
❑Prior to operation, the machine should be inspected by the operator to ensure proper condition.
❑In the event of defect or faults during operation, work with the machine should be stopped
immediately, and an inspection followed by appropriate action to remedy the situation undertaken.

❑People should not be in the area below the suspended load unless it has been secured against
movement by suitable supports.
❑If people enter the effective range of operation of the machine, they must be informed immediately
of the dangers and the prevention of further hazards by the operator(s) by stopping the work.
❑When work stoppages occur (regardless of the time duration), the machine is to be placed in the
parking position and secured against unintended and unauthorized movement.
4.6. Warning decals and other labels
NOTE:
Always keep the warning decals in a legible condition.
Warning decals identify danger points on the machine, and warn of residual dangers that can
occur constantly or unexpectedly

WARNING:
Before operating, read, observe, and understand
the safety and operating instructions.
5. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
5.1. Preparatory measures
❑Only conduct maitenance or work on the machine while wearing safety gloves, to protect against
injuries from sharp edges.
❑While working around or on the device, you must wear appropriate safety work shoes.
❑Prior to each use carry out a visual and then operational function check of the machine, and to
indentify any missing or worn components. If needed have any maintenance carried out by trained
personel.
❑Operating the machine with missing, damaged, or worn safety shields is not permitted.
❑Only loan this machine to people who are familliar with it’s operation, and this model. Always
provide the operator’s manual when loaning this device.
❑Do not carry out any technical modifications to this machine.
❑Compliance with the maintenance and cleaning plans prescribed by the manufacturer in Chapter
6.2 "Maintenance" must be followed.
❑Maintenance and servicing work may only be carried out by appropriately authorized personel.

❑Only original spare parts and wearing parts from SaMASZ are to be used for maintenance and
servicing.
❑Use of the silage roller only under consideration of the permissible total weight and the permissible
axle loads of the towing vehicle.
❑Double check that the operational state of the carrier vehicle is valid with the operating instructions.
❑Check the operational state of the silage roller before coupling to the carrier vehicle.
❑Make sure that the coupling pin diameter fits securly in the towbar hitch.
5.2. Ballasting the silage roller
To increase the compacting pressure, the roller body and the frame can be filled with water.
IMPORTANT:
If there is a risk of frost, the silage roller must be completely drained of water.
Freezing water can damage the frame and silage roller.
IMPORTANT:
Only use fresh tap water without additives. Additives and other substances can
damage the material of the roller body. Other additives, such as chemicals to
prevent freezing, can also poisonous to livestock and people.
WARNING:
When filling, observe the permissible linkage capacity of the tractor.
Overloading can cause an increased risk of accidents.
WARNING:
Make sure that the tractor is turned off and the keys are removed from the
ignition for adjusting or working on the silage roller. Starting the tractor while
working on or adjusting the silage roller can cause serious injury and/or property
damage.
Filling with water to increase weight:
1. Open the water plugs using a 17mm/22mm wrench.
2. Attach the inlet hose and fill with fresh water from a tap.
3. After completing the filling process, screw in the plug(s) and tighten.
Draining to reduce weight:
4. Open the water plugs using a 17mm/22mm wrench.
5. Rotate the roller body until the desired amount has been discharged.
6. After draining, screw in the plug and tighten.

5.3. Uncoupling from the tractor
Place the balls on the pins of the machine‘s receiving points and
secure the bolts with the corresponding cotter pins [Fig. 7]. The choice of
balls and pin diameter depends on the recording devices used on the
tractor linkage.
1. Approach the machine carefully, observing the surrouding area for
potential danger.
WARNING:
Ensure that there are no people in the danger area,
and the area between the tractor and machine.
Crushing hazard!!!
2. Lower the tractor linkage as much as possible.
3. Drive the with lower links under the mounting points of the machine.
4. Lift the lower links until they engage with the receiving points of the machine:
WARNING:
When operating the 3pt linkage from the outside of the tractor, never stand
between the tractor and the machine. Crushing hazard!
5. Stop the tractor, and remove the keys from the ignition, securing it against accidental start-up.
WARNING:
Staring the tractor while working on or adjusting the
implement can lead to injury or even death.
6. Secure the top-link to the upper 3pt position of the machine.
WARNING:
Risk of crushing or other injury while attaching and adjusting the top link. Wear
suitable work gloves while attaching or adjusting the top link.

7. Check to ensure that there is a positive connection between the machine and th tractor. Ensure
that the locks on the linkage arms and top-link are engaged.
WARNING:
Failure to have a postive connection can lead to damage and injury.
8. Raise and secure the parking support into the upper storage position (Insert the pin and cotter pin
to secure the support)
WARNING:
When transporting the machine on the 3pt linkage, ensure that the lateral
movement of 3pt linkage is locked.
WARNING:
Operational and raising/lowering of the linkage are to be secured against use
while transporting the machine on the 3pt linkage. Failure to do so can result in
damage, accident, and injury.
9. Connect the hydraulic hoses into the designated control circuit
of the tractor. Information on the control circuit can be found in
the operating instructions of the tractor. Pay careful attention
to cleanliness of the couplings and dust caps. [Fig. 8]
WARNING:
Check the seating of the hydraulic connections.
An incorectly seated hydraulic connection can
break, leak, cause personal injury, and damage
to the environment.
WARNING:
The hydaulic system is under pressure and can cause serious personal injury,
should the fluid escape. Before coupling or uncoupling the hoses, release the
pressure according to the operating instructions of the tractor.
WARNING:
Leakage of hydraulic fluid can cause serious environmental damage. Take care
to avoid hydraulic fluid leakage.
IMPORTANT:
Hydraulic fluid levels that are too low can cause damage to the tractor’s
hydraulic system and improper operation of the implement. Before use, verify
that the tractor’s hyraulic fluid level is adaquate for operation. Check the
operating instructions of the tractor to ensure the correct fluid level and fluid
type.
10. Undertake a final check of the hydraulic couplings before starting to work with the tractor and
machine.
11. Attach the electric connection for the road lighting or lights, should your machine be equipped with
them.
12. Check the operation and visbility of the lights and warning pannels.

WARNING:
While in the transport position, check to ensure that there is sufficient lateral
locking for the machine.
During road transport, the linkage must be locked to ensure that accidental lowering of the
machine while in transport can not occur.
For road transport instructions, see section 7.2 of this operator’s manual.
5.4. Uncoupling the machine
1. Only uncouple the machine on a sufficiently solid and dry surface.
WARNING:
Danger of tipping or slippage if the machine is uncoupled on surface that is
not solid. RISK OF INJURY!
2. Lower the parking support. (Insert the pin and cotter pin after lowering)
3. Remove the pressure from the tractor’s hydraulic system, disconnect the hoses from the tractor,
if the machine is equipped with a silage edge compactor or sideshift.
4. Replace the dust caps on the hydraulic couplings, as dust and dirt can damage the seals.
5. Should the machine be equipped with lights or road lights, uncouple the electric connection.
6. Loosen the top-link, by turning the adjustment spindle, until the top-link can be moved freely.
7. Unlock the top-link and secure to the tractor aganst falling, according to the instructions found
in the operator’s manual for the tractor.
WARNING:
The top-link can cause serious injury if not properly secured!!
8. Release the lower link locks in accordance with the operating instructions of the tractor,
following all established safety practices.
9. Lower the linkage arms completely, and verify the stability of the machine.
10. Make sure that the linkage arms are completely free of the machine, and then advance slowly
with the tractor.
IMPORTANT:
If the machine is not completely clear of the tractor linkage, advancing with the
tractor can cause serious damage.
5.5. Functional test of the silage roller
NOTE:
Before starting to the use the silage roller, practice with the machine to
familiarize yourself with the behaviour of the silage roller. Become familiar
with all movements of the machine.
WARNING:
Check all settings on the device before starting work based on the
specifications in this operating manual. Deviations and misalignments can lead
to property damage and increased risk of accidents.

Check the free movement of the roller body in the frame. Be extremely careful and observe all
safety and warning instructions given in this operating manual during the functional test. Pay particular
attention to people near the danger area.
5.6. Notes on the use of the machine
❑The presence of unauthorized people and animals within the working area is not permitted.
❑When driving with the machine, take into account the width of passage ways.
❑In the event of non-use or an interuption in the use, the machine must be secured against accidental
or unitended use.
❑With the machine coupled, take into account a change in the turning radius of the tractor can occur.
❑When the machine is coupled to the tractor, the handling behaviour of the tractor can be changed.
❑Working slopes of more than 8° is forbidden.
WARNING:
Risk of crushing between the silage roller and the ground. Never reach
underneath the silage roller. RISK OF INJURY!!!
❑The operator must inspect the machine for damage and wear before each use.
5.7. Operating the silage roller
5.7.1. General Working Instructions
Before starting work, verify again the correct coupling of all hydraulic and electrical connections,
as well as a positive and locked connection on the tractor linkage.
WARNING:
An improperly attached silage roller can come loose and cause serious
accidents.
Verify the secure fit, functionality, and visibility of all warning pannels and lighting(optional).
WARNING:
Improper fitting, functionality, and visibility of warning signs can lead to a
serious accident.
❑Pay attention that the parking support leg is lifted and secured.
IMPORTANT:
If the parking support leg is not secured in the storage position, it can be
damaged or cause further damage to the tractor and machine during work.
❑Adjust your driving speed to the visbility, weather, and the road conditions.
❑To protect the machine, do not drive over high objects (i.e. ropes, walls, etc.)
IMPORTANT:
Driving over objects (i.e. ropes, walls, etc.) should always be avoided. High
objects can cause wear and damage to the machine.
5.7.2. Operating Instructions for IMPACT 300 H
The IMPACT 300 H has a hydraulic side sideshift for the silage roller so that the roller body can
be extended to the right by 700 mm laterally in the direction of travel. This ensures that the edges of
the silo can be compacted without driving on the tractor wheels.

When leaving the silage pile or pit, the roller must be lifted and locked in the middle position,
securing it against accidental movement.
WARNING:
When lifiting the silage roller with a tractor that does not have a central locking
system, to lock the roller in the middle position, extra care must be taken as
there is a risk of the vehicle tipping over.
WARNING:
Pay attention to people and vehicles in the danger area when leaving the silage
pile or pit, or when turning on to the road. For road transport the silage roller
must always be transported into the central and lifted position.
5.7.3. Operating Instructions for IMPACT 300 H WB
At maximum extension to the right the silage roller, equipped with the silage edge compactor,
can simultaneously compact the edges of the silage pile or pit. It is important to ensure that there is a
sufficiently solid side edge for the tractor drive on while compacting.
WARNING:
When lifiting the silage roller with a tractor that is not equipped with a central
locking system for the linkage, extra care must be taken to prevent the tractor
from tipping over.
WARNING:
Always check for people and animals in the danger zone before lowering the
silage edge compactor into the working position.
When driving on the road, the silage edge compactor must always be folded in and transported
with the transport lock (Fig. 9) engaged.

WARNING:
Uncontrolled lowering of the silage edge compactor during transport can lead
to serious injury, death, or property damage.

5.8. Avoidance of wear and damage
Follow the instructions below to avoid damage and excessive wear on your silage roller. These
notes relate in particular to the areas of maintenance, care and use.
Wear Parts
Certain parts of the device are subject to wear even under normal conditions of use and must

Maintenance and Servicing
Adhere to the contents and time intervals given in Chapter 5.8. "Maintenance and Servicing",
providing the maintenance information.
Observe the specifications and whether you can carry out the activities yourself or have a trained
specialist conduct the work.
Failure to comply with maintenance requirements may result in damage and accidents for which
the owner and user are responsible.
These include (incomplete listing):
❑Damage caused by maintenance and repair work not carried out by the manufacturer SaMASZ.
❑Damage due to the use of spare parts not approved by SaMASZ Manufacturer. This also applies to
consequential damage caused by unreleased spare parts.
Damage resulting from incorrect storage, transport and cleaning.
Compliance with the requirements of the operating instructions
Carefully comply with the instructions for use, transportation, maintenance and storage of this
manual as described in this manual.
All damage and consequential damage caused and caused by non-observance of the safety,
operating and maintenance instructions must be the responsibility of the user.
Especially highlighted here are:
❑Improper use of the machine.
❑Continued use of a damaged machine or a machine with damaged or defective parts
❑Implementation of modifications not approved by manufacturer SaMASZ.
❑Disregard of the use of lubricants not approved for this device by the manufacturer SaMASZ.
6. WARTUNG UND INSTANDHALTUNG
❑The maintenance and repair work must always be carried out by suitably qualified persons.
❑Pay attention to the originality of the spare and wearing parts.
❑The execution of maintenance and cleaning work as well as the elimination of malfunctions are
only permitted when the motor is stopped and the ignition is switched off. An unintentional re-start
of motor and drive must be prevented.
❑When welding on the machine, it must be completely decoupled from the carrier vehicle and placed
on a suitable surface.

❑In the case of repairing the paintwork, attention must be paid to the integrity and legability of all
information and product labels. If necessary, these must be replaced by original spare parts from
SaMASZ.
❑The tightness of all fastners (bolts and nuts) must be checked regularly, and tightened as needed.

Never perform different tasks, simultaneously, with more than one person.

Non-compliance with the maintenance information can lead to serious accidents
and user impairments.

Do not have any body parts or tools positioned under the silage roller.
IMPORTANT:
Failure to comply with the lubrication service can lead to property damage and
impairment of use.
6.1. Lubrication and maintenance plan
6.1.1. Lubrication
Before each use, the operator must carry out a visual inspection and perform the lubrication
services due in each case.
Lubricate all lubrication points with an environmentally friendly multi-grade grease according to
the following lubrication schedule.

6.2. Maintenance work
Verify all fasteners (bolts and nuts) are after the first hour, then 5 hours of operation.
Afterwards, all connections must be checked for tightness every 20 operating hours and
tightened if necessary.
6.3. Cleaning plan
Clean the machine after each use. Careful treatment protects the machine from damage and
prolongs it’s useful life.
If you are unable to remove the dirt and debris, use a high pressure water jet to clean the surface.
Avoid using any harmful detergents or solvents.
IMPORTANT:
Never direct a high pressure water jet at the seals and bearings. This can result
in expensive repair work.

WARNING:
Wash only the approved surfaces and areas. Take care of leeching grease and
hydraulic fluid, which can cause environmental damage. Observe all regional
environmental regulations.
7. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
7.1. Transport and Storage
❑Before storing the silage roller for any extended period, all points outlined in Chapter 6 need to be
performed. Mainetance and servicing instructions must be followed.
❑Check the condition of all wear parts, and that parts are tightened appropriately. Necessary
maintenance work should be performed, and any worn-out parts should be replaced prior to storage.
❑In priciple, only move or carry the machine with appropriate carrying or lifting gear. Ensure that the
lifting equipment is sufficient for the weight of the machine.
WARNING:
Risk of injury during lifting and carrying.
❑Always ensure a level and sufficiently stable location when storing or parking the silage roller.
❑When placing the machine on a palette, ensure that the palette is sufficiently strong to carry the
weight of the machine, and secure it against movement with straps.
❑The storage location should be dry, on stable ground, and be on a level surface. The machine should
be covered with a tarp during storage.
7.2. Road Transport
WARNING:
Before transporting, always observe the regulations currently valid for the
region.
1. Ensure you have good visibility from the tractor and for the machine.
2. Before transporting on public roads, remove all dirt and debris from the machine.
WARNING:
Falling objects can lead to accidents, damage to the machine and tractor, injury,
and even death.
Take note of restricted passages.
WARNING:
Ignoring restricted passages can lead to accidents, damage to the machine and tractor,
injury, and even death.
3. Ensure lighting and warning signs are valid for the region.
4. Install the proper warning signs and lighting equipment valid for the region.

WARNING:
Missing, damaged, or invisiible lighting can be a danger to the public during
transport.
5. Verify the functionality and visibility of the road lighting before departure.
6. Note that a negative influence on driving and handling behaviour can occur from the increased
transport weight.
WARNING:
The maxmum transport speed on public roads, including asphalt or concrete
roads, is 25 km/h.
7. When lifting the machine, ensure that it is lifted high enough to avoid contact between the
machine and roadway.
WARNING:
For machines equipped with hydraulic accessories, ensure that they can not be
inadvertantly activated during transport.
8. PROTECTIVE THE ENVIROMENT AND DISPOSAL
The separate, environmentally sound disposal, of materials promotes the recyclability of valuable
materials. Therefore, at the end of the operational life of the machine, the machine itself and all its
constituent parts, such as e.g. lubricants, packaging and wearing parts are made to be used for
recyclable waste collection. Packaging, equipment and accessories are made of recyclable materials
and must be disposed of accordingly.
Make sure the machine is renderred unusable before disposal.
WARNING:
If you do not have the necessary knowledge needed for proper disposal, seek
appropriate help. DANGER –RISK OF INJURY!
