1. Application
The high precision digital oil pressure gauge THGD 100 is designed to
accurately measure hydraulic pressures up to 100 MPa (14500 psi).
The THGD 100 is required when mounting bearings using the
SKF Drive-up Method.
2. Description
The THGD 100 displays the current and the maximum pressure on the dual
display. A bar graph gives a graphical indication of the actual pressure.
The THGD 100 displays the pressures in either MPa or psi and has a backlight
function.
The THGD 100 is suitable for use with SKF pumps 729124, TMJL 50 and
TMJL 100 and can also be directly fitted to an SKF Hydraulic Nut type
HMV...E.

5.2 Display mode
A
D
B
C
The actual pressure is indicated in the display mode. The measured value is
displayed in the corresponding unit. The MAX or FS value is indicated in the
lower part of the display.
Display Description
A. Bar graph: Graphic indication of the actual pressure.
A pressure peak is indicated by means of a pixel (graduation mark).
B. Actual pressure reading.
The indicated value is refreshed three times per second.
C. MAX/FS: Indicates the maximum or full scale value according to setting.
The MAX value is refreshed at three times per second.
The FS shows the upper limit of the scale (i.e 100MPa or 14500 psi).
If OFL is displayed, this indicates that the applied pressure is outside given full
scale range.
If the OFL remains displayed, while the THGD 100 is not under
pressure, contact your local SKF Service Centre.
D. Battery life remaining
The battery life indicator shows the battery life remaining. If the battery
life indicator flashes then the batteries are nearly exhausted and should be
replaced.

If PO OFF is displayed, then the device is currently set in PO on
(automatic power off) mode.
To change to automatic power off mode press RESET/OK.
Wait a few seconds and the display reverts to the actual pressure reading
display or press MENU/ZERO to continue to 6.2.
The settings Auto Power Off or Continuous operation remain stored and are
active when the THGD 100 is turned off and on again.

12 SKF THGD 100
6.2 Changing the displayed units (MPa / psi)
Press MENU/ZERO for 2 seconds. MEnu will be displayed.
Continue press MENU/ZERO briefly until the required measurement unit
is displayed.
Press RESET/OK to confirm selection.
Wait a few seconds and the display reverts to the actual pressure reading
display or press to continue to 6.3.
6.3 Displaying serial number
Follow steps given in 6.2 above and continue pressing MENU/ZERO briefly
until the serial number is displayed.
Wait a few seconds and the display reverts to the actual pressure reading
display or press RESET/OK to return to actual values immediately.

13SKF THGD 100
6.4 Zero point correction (ZERO)
The zero point can be corrected manually should undesired deviations occur
when no system pressure is being applied (atmospheric pressure).
The zero point correction sets the current actual value to zero.
In order exclude erroneous measurements, ensure no system pressure
is being applied when carrying out this function.
Press MENU/ZERO briefly.
ZEro on will be displayed
Press RESET/OK, this initiates the zero point correction.
The actual measured value is indicated in the display as 0.0 MPa (0 psi).
The correction remains active until the device is turned off.
OFL/ZEro is displayed for 3 seconds if the measured pressure is greater than
5% of the measurement range. Zero point correction cannot be carried out.
To reset the zero point correction turn the THGD 100 off and then on again.
7. Maintenance
The only maintenance required is replacement of the batteries.
When the batteries are almost discharged, the battery indicator flashes.
• Before replacing the batteries turn off the THGD 100.
• Pull the rubber protection sleeve back until the whole of the back plate is
exposed. Use a screwdriver (tip type TX8) and remove the back plate.
• Carefully remove the old batteries.
• Insert two new LR6 (AA) alkaline batteries. Take care to ensure the
correct polarity.
• Refit the back plate and rubber protection sleeve.
• Dispose of discharged batteries in accordance with local statutory
regulations.
There are no user serviceable parts in the THDG 100.
