1. PREREQUISITE INFORMATION
1.1 FIELDS OF APPLICATION
R28 drive are designed to drive all types of interior roller and roman blinds.
The installer, who must be a motorisation and home automation professional, must
ensure that the motorised product is installed in accordance with the standards in force
in the country in which it is installed such as EN 13120 relating to interior blinds.
Damaged electric products should not be disposed of with normal household
waste. Make sure to drop them in specially provided containers or at an
authorized organization that will ensure they are recycled.
TRANSLATED INSTRUCTIONS
The Roll Up 28 RTS 447 MHz is a motor specially dedicated to interior applications.
The Roll Up 28 RTS 447 MHz can motorize roller blinds, silhouette blinds, and zebra
blinds.
The Roll Up 28 RTS 447 MHz is a 12VDC operated motor, powered by a power supply.
Warning : The Roll Up 28 RTS 447 MHz cannot be used with sealed double glazing.

1.2 LIABILITY
Please read these instructions carefully before installing and using the drive. In addition
to following the instructions given in this guide, the instructions detailed in the attached
Safety instructions document must also be observed.
The drive must be installed by a motorisation and home automation professional,
according to instructions from Somfy and the regulations applicable in the country in
which it is commissioned.
It is prohibited to use the drive outside the eld of application described above. Such
use, and any failure to comply with the instructions given in this guide and in the
attached Safety instructions document, absolves Somfy of any liability and invalidates
the warranty.
The installer must inform its customers of the operating and maintenance conditions
for the drive and must provide them with the instructions for use and maintenance,
and the attached Safety instructions document, after installing the drive. Any After-Sales
Service operation on the drive must be performed by a motorisation and home automa-
tion professional.
If in doubt when installing the drive, or to obtain additional information, contact a Somfy
adviser or go to the website www.somfy.com.
2. INSTALLATION
These instructions must be followed by the motor manufacturer and home auto-
mation professional installing the motor.
Never drop, knock, drill or submerge the motor.
Install a separate control point for each motor.




2.1. INSTALLATION
2.1.1. Motor preparation
Check that the inner diameter of the tube
is greater than 26.6 mm.
1) Fit the crown (a) and drive wheel (b)
to the motor.
2) Measure the length (L) between the
end of the drive wheel and the head
end.
2.1.2. Tube preparation
Cut the tube to the required length.
Deburr the tube and remove the debris.
2.1.3. Motor/tube assembly
1) Slide the motor into the tube.
Insert the wheel by aligning the wheel
to the tube profile. Insert the motor half
way and then slide the crown down the
motor and insert it in the tube. Finally,
push the motor inside the tube.
2) Not required, but if needed, fix the
tube to the motor with self-tapping
screws or steel pop rivets depending on
the dimension (L).
2.1.4. Mounting the motorized tube on the brackets

For optimal radio reception,
the motor antenna should be
kept straight and should be
positioned outside of headrail
(if used).

2.2. WIRING
Cableswhich passthrough ametal wallmust beprotected andisolated usinga sheath
or sleeve.
Attach cables to prevent any contact with moving parts.
The cable for the Roll Up 28 RTS cannot be removed. If it is damaged, return the
drive to the After-Sales department.
Leave the motor power supply cable accessible: it must be possible to replace it easily.
Do not unplug the power supply when the motor is working.
To ensure electrical safety, this Class III motor must be powered by a «SELV»
voltage source (Safety Extra Low Voltage).
Plug the power supply with the motor supply
cable.
Do not unplug the power supply when
the motor is working.
2.3. COMMISSIONING
2.3.1. Programming the RTS transmitter
Press the UP and DOWN buttons
simultaneously on the RTS transmitter:
the shade jogs and the control point is
preprogrammed in the motor
2.3.2. Checking the rotation direction
Press the RTS transmitter UP button:
a) If the shade raises (a), the rotation
direction is correct: move to the section
entitled 5.3 «Adjusting the end limits».
b) If the shade is lowers (b), the rotation
direction is incorrect: move to the next step.
b1) Press the RTS transmitter MY button
until the shade jogs: the rotation direction
has been modied.
b2) Press the RTS transmitter UP button to
check the rotation direction.

2.3.3. Adjusting the end limits
The end limits can be set in any order.
1)Press and hold the UP button to move the
shade to the desired position. If necessary
adjust the Up position, using the UP or
DOWN buttons.
2)Press the MY and DOWN buttons
simultaneously and release them once
the shade begins to move. The up limit is
memorized.
3)Press the MY button when the shade
reaches the desired Down position.
If necessary adjust the down position, using
the UP or DOWN buttons.
4)Press the MY and UP buttons
simultaneously and release them when the
shade begins to move.
The Down limit is memorized. The shade
moves up and will stop at its upper limit.
5)To confirm the end limits, press and hold
the MY button until the shade jogs.The end
limits are recorded.
2.3.4. Recording the RTS transmitter
After recording the end limits:
Briey press the programming button on the
back of the transmitter. The shade jogs.
The transmitter is recorded.
2.3.5. Favorite position: MY position / Recording MY position
If desired, to set the MY position, move the
shade to the desired position with the UP or
DOWN button then press the MY button until
the shade jogs.

3. USE AND MAINTENANCE
3.1. MODE SELECTION: ROLLER OR TILTING MODE
The Roll Up 28 RTS is designed to work in 2 modes: Tilting mode or Roller mode.
This feature allows the Roll Up 28 RTS to be set according to the type of blind you are
working with.
The Roll Up 28 RTS is set by default to work in Roller mode.
1)Move the shade away from the end limits.
2)Simultaneously press the UP and DOWN
buttons until the shade jogs.
3)Press and hold the MY and DOWN
buttons simultaneously until the shade jogs
to change from Roller mode to Tilting mode.
3.2. UP, DOWN, MY: IN ROLLER MODE
1) To move the shade from a limit to the
other limit, press briefly the UP or DOWN
button.
2) To stop the shade, press the MY button.
3) If a MY position is recorded,To move the
shade to this MY position, press briefly the
MY button.

3.3. UP, DOWN, MY: IN TILTING MODE
1) To move the shade from a limit to the
other limit, briefly press (less than 0,5s) the
UP or DOWN button.
2) To stop the shade, press the MY button.
3) If a MY position is recorded,To move the
shade to this MY position, press briefly the
MY button.
The shade first goes to the down end limit,
then to the MY position.
4) To tilt the slats, press and hold the UP
or DOWN button until the slats reach the
desired position.

3.4. ADDITIONAL SETTINGS
3.4.1. Favortie position: MY position
1) Changing the MY position
To change the MY position, go to the new
desired MY position with the UP and DOWN
buttons then press the MY button until the
shade jogs.
2) Deleting the MY position
To delete the MY position, press the MY
button to move to this position and press the
MY button until the shade jogs.
3.4.2. End limit readjustment
Readjusting the upper end limit
1) Press the UP button, to move the shade
to the upper end limit.
2) Press and hold the UP and DOWN
buttons simultaneously until the shade jogs.
3) Press and hold the UP or DOWN button
to move the shade to the new desired
position.
4) To confirm the new limit press and hold
the MY button until the shade jogs.
Readjusting the lower end limit
1) Press the DOWN button to move the
shade to the lower end limit.
2) Press and hold the UP and DOWN
buttons simultaneously until the shade jogs.
3) Press and hold the UP or DOWN button
to move the shade to the new desired
position.
4) To confirm the new limit press and hold
the MY button until the shade jogs.

3.4.3. Adjusting the tilting speed
1) To decrease the tilting speed, press
and hold the MY and DOWN buttons
simultaneously until the shade jogs. Repeat
as needed. If the shade does not jog, then
the minimum setting has been reached.
2) To increase the tilting speed, press
and hold the STOP and UP buttons
simultaneously until the shade jogs. Repeat
as needed. If the shade does not jog, then
the maximum setting has been reached.
3.4.4. Modifying the motor rotation direction
1) Move the shade away from the end limits.
2) Press the UP and DOWN buttons
simultaneously until the shade jogs.
3) Press the MY button until the shade jogs
to reverse the rotation direction.
4) Press the UP button to check the new
rotation direction.
The motor rotation direction is reversed.
3.4.5. Adding/Deleting RTS transmitter
Find an RTS transmitter (A) programmed in
the motor.
Press and hold the RTS programmed
transmitter (A) PROG button or the motor
PROG button until the shade jogs: the motor
is in programming mode.
Quickly press the RTS transmitter(B) PROG
button to add or delete: the shade jogs and the
RTS transmitter
is programmed or deleted from the motor.
